A preliminary study on wildlife roadkill incidents in Jeli, Kelantan

    No full text
Roadkill leads to biodiversity destruction, which cause threats to human well-being as harmful as climate change. Nowadays, people observe roadkill accidents as a natural occurrence, hence no proper record or study has been taken especially in a remote area. Therefore, this study was carried out to properly record the roadkill incidents at different road types and time. Data were collected in two different time ranges for three months. The morning session runs from 8-11 a.m. and the afternoon session runs from 4-7 p.m. Two types of roads were selected which are Jeli-Gerik highway and the local road in the Jeli area with a total distance of 30 km. Parameters recorded during the survey were types of dead animals found on the road, type of road, location and time. A total of 21 road-kill incident cases were registered, with mammals accounting for 33%, reptiles for 33% followed by birds (23%) and the remainder was from amphibian species. By systematically compiling and recording the numbers of road-kill incidents, a huge amount of data could be generated. Thus, it will take a whole new level of roadkill observation, especially in the Jeli area for the purposes of wildlife tracking and monitoring

Titen: Kearifan Tempatan Masyarakat Jawa Ketika Menghadapi Bencana Alam

    No full text

This paper contributes to the understanding of organizational culture by providing empirical evidence from a public sector organization in Oman. As a future research direction, we highlight the need for studies on cultural research to examine other types of culture applicable within the public sector domain using a larger sample

Generally, women, entrepreneurs face problems in accessing funding due to factors that stem from cultural values, ??societal needs, family ties, illiteracy, gender discrimination, strict government policies, economic crisis, and the lack of training in entrepreneurship and skills acquisition that hinders entrepreneurial activities. This study was conducted to examine the impact of microfinance bank services in empowering female entrepreneurship in Irbid Governorate. The study used a cross-sectional survey research design consisting of 20,000 registered businesswomen. A total of 392 working women were selected using stratified sampling technique and the data was analysed using Least Square Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) with the help of SmartPLS3 software. The results showed that microfinance loans, microfinance savings, and financial interventions or donations had a significant, positive impact on empowering women\u27s businesses in Irbid, Jordan. The study concluded that microfinance deposits could elevate women’s income and act as a guarantee to obtain loans and other microfinance services. Consequently, microfinance institutions (MFIs) should empower more women-owned businesses. In addition, the government through the Central Bank of Jordan should reduce the interest rate of microfinance banks to attract more female entrepreneurs and create more microfinance bank plans and financial intervention packages to enhance financial services to ensure donations and funds reach women entrepreneurs

Unlocking Rural Economy Growth through Digital Economy: Study Of Online Payment Acceptance Among Rural Retailers In Kelantan.

    No full text
Digital economy has become an essential key to unlocking rural economic growth in Malaysia with the launch of the Malaysia Digital Economic Blueprint (MyDIGITAL) by the government in February 2021. Online payment is a vital component of the digital economy and should be feasible even in rural areas since more than 80% of rural households had access to mobile broadband in 2019. Nevertheless, many are still using cash-based payments to make purchases. Thus, this study aims to observe online payment acceptance, particularly in Kelantan, from the rural retailers’ perspective. The Unified Theory of Acceptance and User of Technology (UTAUT) was applied by observing three determinants of behavioural intention to adopt online payment and a quantitative research method, i.e. questionnaire distribution via social media (Facebook) to 384 respondents, was used. The results were analysed using descriptive analysis, reliability test, and Pearson’s correlation analysis. Among the three variables examined, only two significantly affected rural retailers’ behavioural intention to adopt online payment, namely security and performance expectancy. With this information, the government could prepare more targeted, proactive design interventions (e.g., training, marketing, etc.) for rural retailers who are reluctant to use online payment. Hopefully, this research can help online payment services offered in rural areas and the implementation of MyDIGITAL to unlock rural economic growth. Besides, the aim is to inspire future researchers to continue this study with more extensive and complex research.

Practical Implications: The contributions include enhancing the accounting and development literature which are dominated by functional paradigm. Moreover, alternative approaches were proposed, such as reflexive ethnography to recognise a more mundane form of management accounting and governanc

The Development of Personalised Training Needs Analysis for Malaysian Arts Culture Entrepreneurs (ACEs) Using Psychometric Approach

    No full text
Entrepreneurship training programmes (ETPs) are regularly regarded as one of the most effective approaches for training prospective and established entrepreneurs with critical entrepreneurial mastery. While numerous selected segments of the entrepreneurial community have undergone such ETPs successfully, a greenhorn segment of the creative economy industry known as the Malaysian arts culture entrepreneurs (ACEs) community is emerging. However, the current ETPs training needs analysis (TNA) instruments are considered too mainstream, disregarding the ACEs’ distinctive psychometric inventory, making the training process less appealing. As a result, this proposed study would update and improvise the current entrepreneurial psychometric assessment by capturing the psychometric inventory of ACEs that are distinct from the rest of the entrepreneurs’ community. This study will take a mixed-method approach. The proposed main study output is the ACE- Psychometric Inventory instrument, which could develop a personalised TNA that allows for more individualised ETPs content and delivery for ACEs. This paper concludes with discussions and implications of the researc
