    No full text
Oil palm tree plantations are a crucial source of vegetable oil for various industries, playing a significant role in the global economy. One key aspect of plantation management is accurate inventory management of oil palm trees, which involves the detection and counting of individual trees. Traditional inventory management methods for oil palm trees rely on ground-based manual measurements, which are time-consuming, labor-intensive, and prone to errors. However, accurate and efficient detection and counting of oil palm trees from drone images remain challenging due to the complex and variable nature of the plantation environment. Drone-based remote sensing has emerged as a promising alternative for inventory management in recent years. In this study, a novel approach to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of oil palm tree detection and counting using advanced drone-based image recognition techniques is proposed. The research discusses a novel image recognition technique that uses a custom GLCM, Haar Wavelet, and template matching to detect and count oil palm trees from drone images. The proposed approach outperformed traditional machine learning techniques and achieved a high accuracy of 83.75% and 86.9% in detecting individual oil palm trees in Jeli and Keratong, respectively. Haar Wavelet proves this algorithm achieves the highest overall accuracy. Additionally, eight statistical parameters can manipulate the GLCM, while offset parameters can boost accuracy for various applications or methods. The study highlights the potential of advanced drone-based image recognition techniques for optimizing plantation management and contributing to sustainable production practices

    No full text
The effect of the silver complex on graphene oxide and its antibacterial studies was reported in this work. Graphene oxide (GO) has a high specific surface area and is well-known for being an ideal substrate material for growing silver nanoparticles. The simplified Hummer\u27s method was chosen to prepare GO and Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs), which have been decorated on the surface of GO during the reduction of silver complex solution [Ag(NH3)2OH] in GO aqueous solution. The obtained nanocomposite was analyzed by using Ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometry (UV-Vis) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The antibacterial performance against Gram-negative bacteria (Escherichia coli) and Gram-positive bacteria (B. subtilis) was investigated using the disk agar diffusion method. The diameter of the inhibition zone indicates the effectiveness of GOAlgAg in preventing these bacteria from growing while displaying the nanocomposite as a promising material for antibacterial-related applications. The best antibacterial properties were found in a sample of 5.0:2.5ml GOAlgAg, which shows the highest inhibition zone, 0.85cm toward Escherichia coli and 1.03cm toward B. subtilis

    No full text
Abstract A mural is a two-dimensional visual art form that has long been utilized as a decorative element in many buildings worldwide. However, the use of mural art as a decorative element in traditional Malay architecture is seldom encountered, unlike the three-dimensional carving arts or seni ukiran. The discovery of murals at Kedai Mulong Old Mosque (KMOM) during conservation works in 2009 has laid the foundation for new knowledge regarding the utilization of mural art as a decorative element in traditional Malay architecture. KMOM was initially constructed in the mid-19th century as a Balairong Seri (Royal Assembly Hall) before being converted into a mosque by Kedai Mulong\u27s community in 1958. Originally part of a royal complex, the mural arts in KMOM exhibit the finesse and richness of interior decorative elements, contributing significantly to the study of Malay cultural art and architecture. This article aims to discuss the visual features of mural design found in KMOM as a crucial basis for understanding the mural designs used in traditional Malay architecture, especially in the East Coast Region of Malaysia. The study employs a qualitative approach with two phases of implementation: documentation in the first phase and visual analysis for the second phase. The formal method of visual analysis has been applied to analyse the visual characteristics of murals, focusing on two main aspects: the elements and principles of design. The study reveals that the visual elements on the mural include colour, shape, lines, and motifs, while the principles encompass balance, prominence, pattern, and unification.

Review on The Impacts of Biochar and Soil Organic Matter (SOM) Habitation toward the Soil Physico-Chemical Properties Conjugating with Maize (Zea mays) Growth Performance

    No full text
This study studies the complex relationships between maize growth, soil organic matter, and soil physico-chemcial properties, with an emphasis on biochar. It examines how soil organic matter affects pH, bulk density, Cation Exchange Capacity (CEC), porosity, and nutrient levels. Biochar and soil organic matter increase soil pH by decomposing organic anions. With biochar, increasing soil organic matter concentration reduces bulk density, improving soil structure, porosity, and water retention. By increasing Cation Exchange Capacity (CEC), biochar and soil organic matter improve soil nutrient retention and delivery, which is essential for soil fertility. As a soil organic matter component, biochar provides macro and micronutrients, boosting soil production. The study also highlights the importance of soil porosity in plant growth, with sandy soils having high porosity and leaching susceptibility and soil organic matter. However, loam soils, made of sand, clay, and silt, have a balanced porosity and soil organic matter concentration that makes them ideal for agriculture. These data show how organic matter, and biochar, affect maize growth and soil physico-chemical properties. This finding has major implications for protecting the environment and sustainable agriculture
