    No full text
Abstract Ancient Chinese mural paintings have been handed down to the present day, which are the artistic treasures of the Chinese nation and have become an important cultural heritage. Traditional frescoes have high aesthetic value, and their grand scale, orderly inheritance and rich content show great artistic achievements. The creation technique of Chinese traditional frescoes has procedural nature and the use of materials is standardized. Based on this, this thesis takes Chinese traditional mural painting materials as an entry point, focuses on analysing the material techniques of traditional mural paintings, and also carries out practical research on the materials and techniques of composite material paintings, and explores the application of traditional materials to form new picture effects. In recent years, based on the concept of cultural inheritance and innovation, I have created composite material paintings by applying traditional mural painting techniques and the production method of innovative application of materials, using the ground battle layer, which is the same material as that of the ancient mural paintings, as a base, and exploring the contemporary expression of traditional colour materials. These works present the connotation of immateriality in the form of materials, produce new artistic effects in terms of vision, touch and even sensation, embody the contemporary expressive function of traditional materials and techniques, and carry out a useful exploration of the contemporary inheritance and innovation of Chinese traditional mural painting art. This research obtains a new method of artistic expression by integrating and utilizing traditional mural painting materials with modern painting. ABSTRACT This study explains the Malay formalistic and aesthetic in Hamdan Lias block batik that uses bamboo as a medium for innovation to produce block batik patterns. This study aims to identify the motif designs produced by thorn bamboo (Bambusa Blumeana) and honey bamboo (Gigantocha Albociliata). Next, the block batik motifs in Selendang I is analyzed through Malay aesthetic theory. A qualitative approach through direct observation in the field of the products produced. The documentation method is also done based on the length of fabric selection of Selendang I belonging to Hamdan Lias. An interview with Hamdan Lias was conducted to find references relevant to the problem. It was analyzed using the Malay aesthetic theory approach expressed by Ruzaika Omar Basaree. The problem is the lack of studies directed at Malay aesthetic theory in block batik motifs through form, meaning and philosophy that tend to possess the concept of spiritualism or mysticism, unity, symbolism, refinement, symmetry, flexibility and functionality. Research findings show that the motifs produced on the length fabric from the use of thorn bamboo (Bambusa Blumena) and honey bamboo (Gigantocha Albociliata) which are used as batik blocks have a link between the Malay aesthetic theory that displays the beauty of Malay-Islamic art. An understanding of the form, meaning, philosophy, and purpose of the application of motifs and pattern design needs to be applied in batik art to form a unique image and identity. Simultaneously guiding and trying to stimulate designers to produce new expressions and dimensions in today\u27s modern block batik art.

    No full text
When a Muslim commits hijrah, he or she has abandoned evil deed and repented. Previous research shows that religious practices have a significant positive relationship with life satisfaction, but there is not much research that can explain how religious practices can produce life satisfaction among Muslims. This research aims to find out how a model of achieving life satisfaction through religious practices which involves attachment to God and religious support as a mediator. The snowball sampling technique determined 469 Muslims performing hijrah in Indonesia who participated in the study. The research instruments used are the Psychological Measure of Islamic Religiousness (PMIR) subscale of religious practices, the Muslim Spiritual Attachment Scale (M-SAS), the Multifaith Religious Support Scale, and the Satisfaction with Life Scale. Statistical analysis using the Structural Equation Model (SEM) Partial Least Square (PLS) reveals a significant relationship between religious practice and life satisfaction, mediated by attachment to God and religious support. This means that when worship is able to build an attachment to God, then the attachment creates the feeling that Allah SWT and the people in the religious community support him or her. Religious practices will have a positive impact on the life satisfaction of a Muslim who performs hijrah

Zn-Doped Calcium Copper Titanate Synthesis via Microwave-Assisted Technique

    No full text
Electroceramic material has become significant in the recent development of electronic parts such as capacitors, resonators, and sensors. The previous study on calcium copper titanate (CaCu3Ti4O12, CCTO) showed that CCTO exhibits a colossal dielectric constant, up to 105 for bulk materials using a conventional synthesis route (calcine and sinter at 900 - 1040? for 9 - 12 hours). The high firing temperature and longer reaction time were undesirable because they would increase production costs and be time-consuming. Alternately, research findings on doping with donor or acceptor elements were proven to be an effective technique for improving dielectric properties. Thus, the Zn-doping (Zn= 0, 1, and 3 mol%) method increased the dielectric constant in CCTO. The study successfully synthesized Zn-doped CCTO at 700? with a soaking time of 40 minutes using a microwave-assisted technique (calcined and sintered). Then, the samples were characterized using XRD and an impedance analyzer. The CCTO crystal formation was examined through an XRD pattern, and semi-quantitative analysis indicated that 1 mol% of Zn-doped recorded optimum formation reaction after calcining (56.5 wt%) and as-sinter (70.3 wt%). However, despite the low formation of CCTO crystal structure in 3 mol% of Zn-doped (34.9 wt%), it has the highest dielectric constant, and the dielectric loss was reduced at high frequency

From Light to Heavy: Addressing Gaps in Rare Earth Element Extraction at the Lynas Advanced Materials Plant

    No full text
The Lynas Advanced Materials Plant (LAMP) in Kuantan, Malaysia, exemplifies sustainable practices in rare earth element (REE) separation processes through its efficient solvent extraction techniques using 2-ethylhexyl phosphonic acid mono-2-ethylhexyl ester (HEH/EHP or P507) and di-2ethylhexyl-phosporic acid (D2EHPA or P204) to separate REEs from monazite ore sourced from Mt. Weld, Australia. LAMP achieves a remarkable 99% yield for light REE separation in areas such as lanthanum, cerium, praseodymium, and neodymium. It faces challenges separating heavy REEs due to the low content in its concentration to be cost-effective. This limitation underscores the need for improved solvents or alternative methods like ion exchange to enhance heavy REE recovery, particularly yttrium, gadolinium, terbium, and dysprosium, which is of interest to Malaysia to separate its non-radioactive heavy REE from ion-adsorbed clay. Insights from LAMP\u27s processes offer valuable lessons in developing robust REE separation strategies that align with global demand, green technology, and environmental and social impact

Understanding the Tourism Business Ecosystem for Pondokstay

    No full text
Malaysia remains among the top 5 Muslim destinations in 2019, and the demand for Islamic tourism products has attracted much attention from international and domestic tourists. In response to this and to revitalize Islamic tourism landscapes, the concept of pondokstay will be introduced for the first time in 2019. Initially, the concept of pondokstay refers to the availability of facilities and a series of activities conducted in schools that are close to the well-known concept of homestay. Guests have the opportunity to immerse themselves in an authentic Islamic environment, but to date, there is no universally accepted definition. However, there are many challenges for the school. Previous research has found that an additional element is required during production because the main business of the school is education, which is only teachers and students, but pondokstay requires more elements. So, an existing education entrepreneur transitioning to a tourism entrepreneur needs a different business ecosystem. Articles from three types of tourism, namely Islamic, educational and spiritual tourism, are revised to characterize pondokstay. Face-to-face in-depth interviews were conducted with five qualified informants based on documents of the state religious authority. They are selected according to specific criteria, such as the school’s establishment period and the number of employees and students. The responses were manually transcribed, grouped, coded, and thematized. Based on the analysis conducted, three themes emerged to describe pondokstay, namely the establishment factors, the programs, and the facilities required. In addition, there are ten subthemes that were categorized into fifteen indicators
