Species richness and composition of small mammal assemblage in Sedim River Forest Eco Park
Small mammals are essential components of tropical rainforest ecosystems and hold potential to support biodiversity-based ecotourism through engaging wildlife encounters. This study assessed species richness, composition, and beta diversity of small mammals in Sedim River Forest Eco Park, Peninsular Malaysia as well as their guild-specific detection pattern. Systematic sampling was conducted within a 400 m × 200 m plot using 100 collapsible cage traps, three harp traps, and 10 mist nets over five sampling sessions, each comprising five consecutive nights. Opportunistic observations were also carried out. A total of 26 species from 10 families were recorded. Live trapping captured 113 individuals representing 18 species, with Hipposideros larvatus being the most common. Direct observation yielded six individuals of six distinct arboreal species, with no overlap between methods, highlighting the complementary value of both methods. Diversity indices across sessions ranged from 0 to 2.53 (Shannon–Weiner), 0 to 0.9021 (Simpson), and 0.628 to 1.0 (evenness), with peak diversity during Session 3. A significant association was found between the sampling method and ecological guild (χ² = 45.61, df = 2, p < 0.001). Beta diversity analysis using the Bray-Curtis Similarity Index revealed that the small mammal community in Gunung Inas FR (where Sedim River Forest Eco Park is located) was more similar to Padang Chong FR (43.2%) than Ulu Muda FR (29.3%), supported by a shared species count of 12. These findings demonstrate the importance of multi-method sampling and highlight the potential of diverse small mammal communities as valuable assets in low-impact ecotourism and conservation planning
Roadside Trees Species Selection Model for Environmental Health and Public Safety in MalaysiaRoadside Trees Species Selection Model for Environmental Health and Public Safety in Malaysia
Selecting right tree species for roadside planting is crucial to balance environmental health with public safety concerns. Roadside trees as a part of urban green infrastructure have the potential to cope with some of these problems in urban environment and provide an array of services such as shade provision and aesthetic creation. Unfortunately, roadside trees are also acknowledged to render disservices. Damaged road surface, pedestrian walkway and underground utilities are a few instances of this. The wrong tree species planted at the wrong place can lead to significant environmental, social and economic consequences. The aim of this study is to develop roadside tree species selection model for reference to the local authorities. Two objectives are to determine additional attributes in urban roadside tree species selection and to examine the relationship between additional and similar attributes in landscape practices. This research employs mixed methods approaches consisting of both qualitative and quantitative approaches. An in-depth interview was conducted in four selected local authorities, namely Kuala Lumpur City Hall, Petaling Jaya City Council, Selayang Municipal Council, and Subang Jaya Municipal Council. The findings are validated by five registered landscape architects, revealing ten (10) additional attributes of root invasiveness and behavior, wood brittleness and branch drop risk, allergenic potential, growth rate and canopy management, compatibility with urban infrastructure, drought and pollution tolerance, fire resistance and flammability, wildlife attraction and pest management, aesthetic consistency and public perception, structural stability and wind resistance that influences the selection of roadside tree species in urban areas. These attributes were integrated into the roadside tree species selection model.

Digital Literacy among Bakery Industry Entrepreneurs: A Review based on the Triple Helix Model
ABSTRACT
The application of digital literacy among bakery industry traders is increasingly important in the era of rapid digital transformation. However, the level of mastery and use of digital technology among small entrepreneurs is still low and unbalanced, especially in terms of strategic support from universities, industry and government. Therefore, this study was conducted to identify the role and significance of the relationship using the Triple Helix Model to understand the role of these three entities in strengthening the digital literacy of local bakery traders. The design of this study used a quantitative approach through a survey method using a questionnaire as the main instrument. Based on the Krejcie and Morgan Table, the recommended sample size for a population of 89 is 73 respondents. However, this study used 57 respondents based on the accessibility and willingness of participants to be involved, in addition to considering time and resource constraints. The questionnaire that was constructed consisted of four sections, namely demographic information (Section A), the role of the industry (Section B), the role of the university (Section C) and the role of the government (Section D). A five-point Likert scale was used to measure the perceptions of the respondents. Statistical analysis showed that there was a significant relationship between the role of industry and government (r=0.000, p<0.01), as well as a significant relationship between universities and government (r=0.304, p=0.021), and between universities and industry (r=0.419, p=0.001). This finding reflects the importance of multi-stakeholder collaboration in strengthening the development of the local bakery sector.
Effect of Different Electrodes and Spacing Gap in Treating Suspended Particles of UMK Lake using Electrocoagulation Process
Water quality is crucial for ecological balance, making the removal of suspended solids (SS) essential. This study examined the efficiency of electrocoagulation (EC) in reducing SS from UMK Lake. Various parameters, including current density, electrode material, pH, and treatment time, were analysed to assess removal efficiency. Laboratory experiments using aluminium electrodes were conducted, treating water samples under different conditions. Removal efficiency was determined by comparing turbidity and total suspension concentration before and after treatment. Results showed that electrocoagulation effectively removed SS from UMK Lake, with efficiencies ranging from 60% to 90%. The findings highlight electrocoagulation as a promising technology for improving water quality in natural bodies. Additionally, this study provides valuable insights into factors influencing SS removal efficiency in EC processes. The results contribute to optimising treatment protocols for real-world applications
The Impact of Guests’ Perception on the Awareness on Green Technology Practices in the Hotel Industry
Green technology helps protect the environment and natural resources while reducing the negative effects of human activity. Green technology is the most effective way to address environmental and economic challenges. Financial Literacy and Zakat Utilization: A Conceptual Framework for Asnaf Economic Empowerment
Zakat is essential for alleviating poverty and fostering social welfare in Muslim-majority countries. In Malaysia, particularly in Perlis, the Asnaf community depends heavily on zakat assistance for financial stability. However, ineffective utilization of zakat funds due to limited financial literacy continues to pose a challenge. Financial literacy which encompasses knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors is crucial for financial decision-making. Despite its recognized importance, few studies have examined the relationship between financial literacy and optimal zakat fund management among Asnaf recipients. This paper proposes a conceptual framework linking financial literacy to zakat fund utilization, arguing that targeted financial education can empower Asnaf recipients to manage finances more efficiently, reduce dependency on aid, and achieve long-term sustainability. Integrating Shariah Governance Theory and Financial Literacy Theory, the framework emphasizes responsible financial management within Islamic principles. This study contributes to the literature by highlighting how important structured, context-specific financial literacy programs within zakat distribution systems. Future research should empirically test the proposed model to validate its role in improving economic outcomes for the Asnaf community
Groundwater quality assessment around Lake Mkpitime, Nigeria, using integrated geophysical and hydrochemical approaches
Groundwater quality assessment around Lake Mkpitme has not received any investigations. The goal of this study was to apply integrated geophysical and hydrochemical approaches to investigate the suitability of the groundwater around the lake for domestic, agricultural and industrial sustainable use. Ten vertical electrical soundings (VES) were conducted within the lake vicinity, while four groundwater samples and seven lake samples were collected for water quality assessment. The VES result revealed an aquifer depth range of 14.8 – 108 m, located within the fourth layer, while the aquifer resistivity ranged from 645 – 5287 ?m. Dar-Zarrouk parameters evaluation revealed values of longitudinal conductance (0.03-0.213 ?-1), transmissivity (1.94-98.62 m2/day), transverse resistance (47247-313525 ?m2), indicating an aquifer with poor to intermediate protective capacity and low to intermediate potential. The hydrochemical analysis of groundwater samples revealed dominant Ca2+ - Na+ - HCO3- - Cl- - SO42- water facies, while the lake samples revealed Ca2+ - Na+ - HCO3- Cl- - SO42- water facies, indicating water mixing and suggestive of lake and groundwater interaction, as groundwater close to the lake has higher concentrations and possible stratification of water chemistry with depth. The fresh water nature of groundwater was revealed by the maximum TDS range of 10.8-19.3 mg/l, while that of the lake ranged from 10.8-31.3 mg/l, implying fresh-moderate subsurface mineralization, with groundwater that is within the permissible limit of the World Health Organization. The results showed that the groundwater quality around the lake is suitable and sustainable for both domestic, agricultural and industrial needs
