Explore Personal Growth of Single Mother Micro-Entrepreneurs in Hulu Langat

    Get PDF
There is still a great deal to learn about the entrepreneurial experience of single mothers. Based on studies on the expansion of single mother’s businesses, this paper makes its case. The data used in this study were based on recent research on single mothers in Malaysia as well as empirical facts. The entire process of becoming an entrepreneur, from seeing an opportunity to learning new skills and realizing profits, is covered under the theory of entrepreneurial value creation. Using a qualitative methodology, the data for this study was obtained. Two individuals who are members of the Women and Single Mother Society (WITUS) and are also entrepreneurs were interviewed in-depth. The results showed that the primary obstacles were the lack of entrepreneurial abilities and business resources, the problem of social stigma, and the difficulty of striking a balance between their personal and professional obligations. Entrepreneurs who are single mothers primarily rely on their personal resources and unofficial support network to sustain their company. The informal support structure, while helpful, is unable to reinforce their personal financial situation and ensure the continued existence of their enterprises. These entrepreneurs are single mothers, yet it doesn’t appear like personal problems are holding them back. Both direct and indirect consequences of knowledge barriers are felt by growing businesses. As seen in this context, the obstacles are caused by a low degree of expertise in management

    Get PDF
It is expected that the COVID-19 pandemic could cause a global recession with a significant impact on disrupting economic activities. This study's primary objective is to determine the impact, effect, and determinant of Human Development Index (HDI) during the COVID-19 pandemic in the regencies/municipalities of Jambi Province, utilising four independent variables: economic growth, poverty rate, unemployment rate, and income distribution inequality. To analyse the impact of COVID-19 during the pandemic on independent variables, the author used different test analyses and a quantitative descriptive method. Using a regression panel model, the author analyses the impact of a pandemic on Jambi Province's HDI for the years 2017 to 2021. Different test results indicated that the COVID-19 pandemic had an effect on economic growth, poverty rate, and unemployment rate in the regencies/municipalities of Jambi Province, but had no effect on income distribution inequality. The regression estimation of panel data using a Fixed Effect Model reveals that the poverty rate and open unemployment rate have a significant effect on the HDI in the regencies/municipalities of Jambi Province, whereas economic growth and income distribution inequality do not

The Relationship Between Emotion and Communication

    Get PDF
This study investigates the profound relationship between emotions and their impact on communication. Emotions, expressed through cues like facial expressions, are central to daily interactions, influencing how individuals communicate and perceive others. The research distinguishes between primary, instinctive emotions (e.g., pleasure, frustration) felt similarly across cultures, and secondary emotions (e.g., love, guilt) that involve higher-order thinking, develop over time, and are often interpersonal. The core problem is that emotions frequently hinder communication, leading to discomfort and conflict. Recognizing and managing these emotional states is crucial for effective dialogue and resolving differences. This quantitative study aimed to determine the relationship between emotions and their impact on communication. Employing a survey design, data was collected from 140 students at Taylor's University's School of Media and Communication using stratified random sampling. Questionnaires adapted from Goleman (1995) and Millard J. Bienvenu (1971) measured emotions and communication impact, respectively. Results demonstrate a significant positive relationship between emotions and their impact on communication (r = .644, p < .000). This confirms that emotions strongly contribute to communication outcomes. The study emphasizes the critical role of emotional awareness for improved communication, fostering stronger social bonds, and enhancing both personal and professional interaction

The Effect of Perceived Organisational Support, Perceived Co-Worker Support and Work-Family Conflict on Turnover Intention Among Nurses in Bangladesh

    No full text
Nurses are the largest occupational group responsible for delivering high-quality patient care. However, a higher nurses’ turnover rate negatively affects the nurses’ morale and quality of care and increases the workload of remaining nurses, resulting in more nurses’ turnover. In Bangladesh, hospitals do not have enough nurses. The nurses’ turnover rate (15-18%) will lead to substantial financial and service quality loss. The nurses’ turnover rate is approximately 17% in Bangladesh. Therefore, this study aims to identify how to mitigate turnover intention among nurses in the healthcare sector in Bangladesh. Still, very little research has been conducted so far on the linkage between perceived organisational support, perceived co-worker support and turnover intention. The findings of these variables are inconclusive, necessitating further research. Moreover, most of the research so far has been conducted in Western settings. However, the relationship has yet to be thoroughly examined in the emerging Asian context, especially in Bangladesh. In addition, previous studies have overlooked the mediating effect of work-family conflict in the relationship between perceived organisational support, perceived co-worker support and turnover intention. The proposed research framework is supported by social exchange theory and conservation of resources theory

    Get PDF
The level of work engagement of nurses has indisputable contributions to patient service in the health care sectors. The Job Demands-Resources (JD-R) model predicts job demands and resources related to work engagement but has not previously been tested in the specific context of registered nurses of Bangladesh using psychological capital as a mediator. The main objective of this study is to investigate the impacts of job demands, and job resources on the work engagement of nursesof public hospitals in Bangladesh where psychological capital plays the role of mediator. A comprehensive review will be presented based on the most recently selected literature from an academic journal and relevant online platforms. However, as mentioned in the conceptual analysis, it will contribute to the literature by providing expanded knowledge of the job aspects associated with the work engagement of nurses and will confirm the importance of monitoring nurses' work engagement and psychological capital to improve patient satisfaction with nursing care in Bangladesh. Besides, the conceptual configuration of this study will help healthcare managers and policymakers of healthcare services that could serve as input for planning purposes. Furthermore, the conceptual model may possibly be able to assist nurses in practicing their ability with the responsibility to handle certain situations with the nursing staff coordinator's supervision
