    No full text
The study explores the influence of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), entrepreneurial competency, and entrepreneurial education on the business performance of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Selangor, Malaysia. This research emphasizes the critical role of ICT in enhancing operational efficiency and market reach, entrepreneurial competency in fostering strategic decision-making, and education in equipping entrepreneurs with vital skills. Employing a qualitative phenomenological design, the study gathered data from a diverse sample of entrepreneurs through semi-structured interviews. Findings reveal that ICT adoption significantly impacts business growth by streamlining processes and improving customer engagement, though challenges such as limited training persist. Entrepreneurial competencies, including innovation and financial management, were identified as pivotal in navigating market complexities. Additionally, entrepreneurial education emerged as a key factor in developing these competencies, with its integration with ICT further amplifying business performance. However, barriers such as inadequate access to quality education and training programs were noted. The study contributes to the understanding of the synergistic relationship between these elements, offering actionable insights for policymakers and educators. Enhancing support systems for entrepreneurs in Selangor could lead to improved SME performance, fostering economic growth and sustainability in the region

Entrepreneurial intention theory in Malaysian communities: A concept paper.

    Get PDF
This study aims to refine and contextualize existing models of entrepreneurial intention by examining how internal and external factors shape entrepreneurial intentions within Malaysian communities. Recognizing that entrepreneurship is largely an intentional and planned behavior, this research evaluates the applicability of two widely referenced intention models—the Theory of Planned Behavior (Ajzen, 1991) and the Entrepreneurial Event Model (Shapero, 1982)—within Malaysia’s unique sociocultural context. While prior research often emphasizes personality traits or demographic predictors, these factors have shown limited predictive power, particularly in diverse cultural settings. Instead, this study focuses on the dynamic interaction between personal attitudes, self-efficacy, perceived feasibility, and culturally specific external influences such as family expectations, community norms, and institutional support. Given Malaysia’s multicultural society and varied economic policies, understanding these interactions is crucial for developing effective, localized strategies to foster entrepreneurship. By comparing intention models and integrating them with Malaysia-specific variables, this research seeks to enhance predictive accuracy and provide practical insights for educators, policymakers, and entrepreneurship support programs. The findings are expected to contribute to the development of more culturally responsive frameworks, promoting sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystems in Malaysia and offering a basis for comparative studies in other emerging economies with similar sociocultural complexitie

    Get PDF
Penetration testing or pen testing is crucial to protect systems from cyber risk attacks due to the vulnerabilities in information security. This article presents the implementation of basic penetration testing which focuses on the scanning phase by using two virtual machines which are Kali Linux and Metasploitable 2 installed virtually in a local machine through VirtualBox as one of the virtualization software to simulate the environment. Nmap which is one of Kali Linux tools was used to perform the scanning purpose on Metasploitable 2 as a vulnerable system or target machine. The experiment was conducted in a secured environment thus requiring a secured setting in configuring the VirtualBox. The experimental results show a list of open ports from the Metasploitable 2 machine and thus suggest basic countermeasures to secure the systems. Using Kali Linux as one of the penetration testing tools is beneficial for finding vulnerabilities and alerting pen testers to fix them before attackers can take advantage of them
