The development of social interaction within Sufi Order (tarekat) offers a unique pathway to cultivate social piety in society. Rooted in the spiritual teachings and practices of the tarekat, this approach plays a pivotal role in enhancing emotional and spiritual intelligence (ESQ) among its members. This qualitative study, based on an extensive review of relevant literature, seeks to explore how the tarekat contributes to the growth of ESQ and its broader implications for fostering social piety. The findings reveal that the principles of maqāmat and aḥwal, central to tarekat teachings, significantly enhance both emotional and spiritual intelligence. This, in turn, encourages social piety, as demonstrated through the noble character and community-oriented actions of tarekat members. The research underscores the strong connection between tarekat practices and the development of ESQ, showing how this spiritual tradition serves as a vital religious social movement—one that not only deepens inner spiritual growth but also actively promotes social responsibility and engagement

    Get PDF
YouTube has become a lucrative platform for content creators, fostering the rise of popular Muslim scholars with distinct specialties and audiences. This phenomenon has been exploited by creators who commodify religious lectures by framing them as debates, contributing to the growing polarization among Indonesian Muslims. This study employs a qualitative approach, utilizing the framing analysis model of Zhongdang Pan and Gerald M. Kosicki to examine how religious sentiments are constructed and commodified on YouTube. It further explores audience interpretations to assess the impact of such framing. The findings reveal that content creators manipulate frames through strategically designed thumbnails and titles as key syntactic elements, while the sequencing of video clips reinforces framing at the script, thematic, and rhetorical levels. Audience engagement, as reflected in comments, largely demonstrates support for the content creators and the religious figures portrayed as victors in these debates. The study concludes that the commodification of religious sentiments through framing significantly intensifies polarization within the Indonesian Muslim community, posing a considerable threat to social and religious diversity

Shari’ati emphasizes that the unity between humans, nature, and God is the foundation for building a complete human identity. This study aims to explore and understand the concept of divine Humanism in Ali Shari’ati’s thought, focusing on key works such as Man and Islam, Religion vs. Religion, and Marxism and Other Western Fallacies. The study explores the core ideas, principles, and implications of divine Humanism and how divine values contribute to forming human identity. It found that humans are considered material and spiritual beings with moral responsibilities towards God, self, and society. The concept of tawhid, which emphasizes the unity of God, man, and nature, is the basis of a complete human identity. Shari’ati's divine humanism criticizes secularism and secular humanism, which ignore spirituality, fuel moral crises, ethical relativism, and alienation. As an alternative, he places divine values such as justice, compassion, and social responsibility at the core of human identity and the driver of social transformation. This study makes an important contribution to global social issues by offering Ali Shari‘ati’s divine humanism approach as a framework for understanding and overcoming the challenges of modernity, such as dehumanization, moral crisis, and ethical relativism
