    Get PDF
Social media has become a platform for forming virtual communities based on shared interests, including religious expression. It also serves as a forum for exchanging ideas, often leading to the development of distinct online cultures without direct interaction. Netnography, a digital adaptation of ethnography, provides a framework for studying these cultural phenomena. This study examines how shalawat (praise for the Prophet) is shared via social media and how some Arabic love songs are mistakenly perceived as shalawat by online audiences. The research aims to analyze netizens’ responses to these songs and to explore the semantic content of the lyrics to clarify their meaning. Using a qualitative approach with a netnographic method, data were collected through online observation, interviews, and documentation. The study followed five stages: developing the research framework, selecting the object, collecting data, analyzing findings, and reporting results. The findings indicate that some users misunderstand the lyrics of Arabic love songs featured in majlis shalawat settings, assuming them to be religious chants. Semantic analysis was conducted to distinguish between love-themed lyrics and genuine shalawat, shedding light on how religious expression and popular culture may intersect and be misinterpreted in digital spaces

    Get PDF
Purpose: This study aims to examine the implementation and effectiveness of risk management in Islamic Rural Banks (BPRS) in Riau Province, particularly in strengthening the resilience of sharia-compliant financing amidst growing financial uncertainties. Method: Using a qualitative case study approach, this research investigates two BPRS—Berkah Dana Fadhlillah and Hasanah—in both rural and urban contexts. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis involving practitioners, regulators, and academics. Results: The findings reveal that BPRS in Riau have implemented risk management systems in accordance with POJK No. 23/2019. Key strategies include policy formulation, development of risk-aware organizational culture, human resource enhancement, and financing segmentation—shifting from micro to consumer segments (e.g., murābaḥah). This strategic shift significantly reduced the Non-Performing Financing (NPF) rate. Implication: The research underscores the need for periodic updates in risk management strategies and enhanced professional capacity to maintain financing sustainability. Originality: This study contributes to the literature by integrating the concepts of organizational resilience and Islamic value frameworks in analyzing risk management practices at regional Islamic microfinance institutions

Adverse effects on children exposed to intimate partner violence and possible interventions

    Get PDF
There is a lack of academic research that presents effective frameworks for addressing the harm of intimate partner violence (IPV) on children. This study investigated the negative effects of IPV on children who witness IPV incidents and assessed the proper interventions in mitigating these outcomes. This was a qualitative study using purposive sampling of IPV victims abused in the children’s presence. These victims underwent counseling at the Bapong Crisis Center in Bapong village, South Africa. Semi-structured interviews were held, and data were analyzed using thematic content analysis. IPV-exposed children risk anxiety, aggression, attachment issues, and academic and relationship struggles. There should be effective interventions that include trauma-informed care, caregiver support programs, and community awareness campaigns to reduce symptom severity. A coordinated strategy integrating professional training, policy reform, and child-centered psychosocial support is needed to break IPV cycles. Future research should prioritize culturally adaptive interventions and longitudinal tracking

The Narrative of Hope in “Suara Muhammadiyah, 02/2025 Edition”: A Critical Discourse Analysis Using Van Dijk’s Approach

    No full text
Following the 2024 General Election, Indonesia has faced a challenging situation marked by social polarization and intense political tensions that threaten national unity. In such conditions, Islamic da’wah cannot rely solely on conveying religious teachings in a normative manner. It is required to serve as a calming force capable of embracing various groups and re-strengthening social bonds within a divided society. This study aims to examine how da’wah communication strategies are employed by Muhammadiyah in constructing a hopeful narrative in the Main Feature Section of Suara Muhammadiyah magazine, 02/2025 edition. Published shortly after the 2024 election, this edition reflects Muhammadiyah’s stance on various sociopolitical issues at the national level. The study is relevant as the da'wah presented not only conveys religious messages but also acts as a form of symbolic intervention in the national public sphere. The study employs a descriptive qualitative approach using documentation and literature review techniques. The primary data source is the Main Feature Section of Suara Muhammadiyah 02/2025 edition, supported by secondary data from scholarly references. The analysis applies Teun A. Van Dijk’s Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) framework, which includes three dimensions: textual structure, social cognition, and social context. The findings reveal that the da'wah messages are crafted using optimistic diction, supported by factual data, and reinforced with quotations from national figures. This strategy constructs a credible image while also fostering a sense of unity within society. From an academic perspective, this study contributes to the development of religious discourse studies. Meanwhile, on a practical level, the findings can be utilized in text-based Indonesian language learning, particularly to enhance students’ critical reading and argumentative writing skills.

Code-switching in Second Language Acquisition: A Systematic Literature Review on Benefits and Challenges

    Get PDF
This systematic literature review provides a comprehensive examination of the multifaceted role of Code-Switching (CS) in the complex process of Second Language Acquisition (SLA). This study includes a systematic literature review following the PRISMA model to identify, screen, and analyze relevant research on CS in education, ensuring a comprehensive and transparent selection of high-quality sources. The articles analyzed met the inclusion criteria: empirical works, under the theme of CS in SLA, language learners as the research subject, and elaborating benefits and challenges of CS. Of 850 screened records, 50 articles were qualitatively synthesized, making up the systematic review material. The findings of this review reveal that CS can serve as a valuable and versatile strategy for learners, enabling them to overcome temporary linguistic limitations, enhance comprehension of complex concepts, and actively participate in communication even when faced with gaps in their target language proficiency. It highlights how CS can facilitate meaning negotiation, foster a sense of belonging, and promote a more comfortable and inclusive learning atmosphere. However, the review also acknowledges and thoroughly analyzes potential drawbacks associated with CS, such as the risk of over-reliance on the first language (L1), which may inadvertently impede the development of target language proficiency and hinder the acquisition of necessary linguistic resources. This includes the potential for fossilization of errors and the avoidance of challenging target language structure. This study implies that while CS can be a prevailing communicative and pedagogical means in SLA, its use must be thoughtful to avoid undesirable effects. Therefore, schools and stakeholders could implement strategic actions to effectively equip teachers to use CS within diverse educational contexts
