Challenges and Opportunities in Integrating Islamic Values into Nation Branding: Experiences of Indonesia and Bangladesh
Get PDFThe purpose of this research is to investigate the good and bad themes of love and recognition in Sophocles' Antigone, which is within the framework of Franz Brentano's philosophical concepts and Islamic views. The main questions asked are: How do love and recognition help to understand good and bad actions in the narrative of "Antigone"? And how do these themes resonate in Islamic moral views? To answer these questions, the research uses the method of literary analysis based on historical texts, philosophical theories, and religious insights. The analysis shows that the character of Antigone shows the conflict between family loyalty and social rules, showing that love can lead to noble actions with tragic consequences. Meanwhile, Creon's character represents the dangers of pride and blind judgment and tries to enforce human laws over divine principles. The findings highlight the complexity of ethical decisions and show that what is considered good or bad may vary based on individual perspectives and social norms. Finally, this research shows how Antigone's narrative reflects the interplay of love, cognition, and ethical dilemmas and makes Brentano's thoughts on ethics reconsidered in the light of Islamic teachings. This study concludes that a deep commitment to these themes encourages a more nuanced understanding of moral ambiguity and human behavior
ANALYSIS OF DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY ON DA'WAH COMMUNICATION STRATEGIES IN THE MODERN ERA
No full textThe use of social media and digital platforms is increasing in da’wah activities. Many studies have not explored the optimal use of technology by da’wah practitioners to reach wider and more diverse audiences or face digital challenges, such as disinformation, the digital divide, and technical skills. This research explores the influence of digital technology on da’wah communication strategies in the modern era using the case study method—data collection through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and analysis of documentation from various digital platforms. Research findings show that social media, video platforms, and podcasts have changed the way preachers preach, allowing preachers to reach a wider and more diverse audience with more interesting and interactive content. In addition, the use of analytical tools to understand audience demographics is very important in increasing the effectiveness of message delivery. However, challenges such as the digital divide and the need for technical skills in content creation were also identified. The results of this research emphasize the need for preachers to receive digital skills training so that messages can be conveyed professionally and attractively. In addition, this research provides practical recommendations for preachers to optimize the use of technology in da’wah activities, including content creation strategies and how to deal with challenges such as misinformation

Public Perception of Religious Moderation on Twitter: The Case of Kicking Offerings on Mount Semeru, Lumajang
Get PDFThis study aims to analyze the construction of public opinion and perception regarding religious moderation in the context of Mount Semeru incident, Lumajang, Indonesia, (2022). This research employs a qualitative approach, utilizing perception theory and virtual ethnographic analysis to examine Twitter users' responses to a viral video depicting individuals disrupting traditional offerings at Mount Semeru, also investigates how Twitter as a social media platform influences public perception of religious moderation. The findings reveal three distinct response categories: opposition, support, and moderation, which contributed to digital conflicts. To minimize digital conflicts, especially intolerant responses on social media, there is a need to strengthen religious moderation on social media through education content grounded in Islamic scriptures (Quran and Hadith), Indonesian state ideology (Pancasila), and collaboration with religious authorities via digital media formats. The research demonstrates the significant role of social media in shaping public perceptions of religious tolerance in contemporary Indonesia
Criticism of Mixed Marriage and Child Citizenship Rights: Family Law Reform in Indonesia
Get PDFMixed marriage and children's citizenship rights in Indonesia are increasingly becoming relevant topics in the midst of globalization and high social mobility. This study aims to analyze criticism of existing regulations and explore the need for more inclusive and responsive family law reform. The methodology used in this study includes a qualitative analysis of laws and regulations. The data collection techniques applied include a thorough literature study of various sources, including books, journal articles, and relevant legal documents. The results of the study show that the current laws, especially Law No. 1 of 1974 on Marriage and Law No. 12 of 2006 on Citizenship, are still inadequate in accommodating the rights of children from mixed marriages. Legal uncertainties regarding child citizenship as well as complex registration procedures lead to discrimination and hinder children's access to basic services. Therefore, comprehensive reforms are needed to ensure the protection of the rights of children and women, as well as to harmonize national laws with international standards. This research contributes to a broader discussion on the importance of family law reform to realize justice and welfare for all family members in Indonesia
Harmonizing Legal Pluralism in Marriage Laws: Policy Challenges on Child Marriage in Madura
No full textThis research examines the persistence of child marriage in the Madura region through the lens of legal pluralism, particularly the intersections of Islamic, customary, and state laws. Although religious and cultural practices continue to shape norms and values, they often counteract statutory provisions designed to safeguard children's rights. Proposed is a harmonization model that integrates fiqh and customary law with national law, providing cultural legitimacy while protecting children at the same time. Adopting the socio-legal qualitative approach, the research uses a combination of normative legal theory and empirical research conducted in Sampang Regency, which embraced interviews and documentation of court decisions, fatwas, local regulations, and case files on child marriage, with religious leaders, elders, lawyers, judges, parents, and child marriage survivors. Spradley’s ethnographic model guided the analysis in documenting core cultural themes and their components. It is cultural and religious rationalization, along with ignorance of laws and weak enforcement, that continue to allow child marriage. Solid legal reform requires improving child protection by local leaders, educating children's rights, and reframing marriage-age laws from religious prohibitions to administrative restrictions. It gaps legal pluralism and children's rights by cohesive laws, socio-cultural practices, and international human rights
Instilling Discipline Based on Teacher Exemplary Behavior in Madrasas: A Literature Review
No full textObjective: The rapid expansion of digital technologies has intensified adolescents’ exposure to online gambling, raising concerns about its social, educational, and psychological consequences. This study aims to examine patterns of online gambling among adolescents, associated behavioral changes, and the implications for education within the local context of Cilegon City, Indonesia. Method: Using a qualitative document-based research design, the study analyzes secondary data drawn from local statistical reports, policy documents, academic studies, and school- and community-based intervention records related to online gambling. Result: The findings indicate that adolescent engagement in online gambling is facilitated by high digital accessibility, peer influence, and the normalization of gambling elements in online gaming environments. Behavioral changes observed include increased impulsivity, emotional instability, social withdrawal, and distorted perceptions of risk and reward. These behavioral shifts are closely linked to educational consequences such as declining academic engagement, reduced learning motivation, and weakened school attachment. Family and school contexts emerge as critical factors, functioning both as sources of risk and as potential protective environments, depending on the quality of supervision, communication, and institutional support. The study highlights significant gaps in preventive efforts, particularly the lack of structured school-based programs and coordinated home–school interventions. Conclusion: The findings underscore the need for integrated, education-centered prevention strategies and context-sensitive policies to address adolescent online gambling as a multidimensional social and educational issue
