Interfaith Marriage Involving Muslims in Indonesia: Legal Pluralism and Maqāṣid al-Sharīʿah Perspectives
In the Indonesian Islamic and society context, legal pluralism and interreligious interactions have potential. However, the ongoing and legally interfaith marriage continues to create a paradox. In accordance, the study examines the legal framework of interfaith marriage within the national legal framework, the pluralism in the law, and the judicial system, where legal enforcement is judged by maqāṣid al-sharīʿah principles. With a normative legal approach, this analysis is grounded in primary statutory paradigms, Islamic codifications, secondary administrative laws, and judicial practices and doctrines. Within this context, interfaith marriage has been indicated as an illegal marriage, not legally recognized within the religious framework. Although legal pluralism historically rose to various judicial practices, in Islamic divorce law, considerable differentiation has been eliminated. In creating and maintaining a unified linear hierarchy, subordinate norms must follow the Religious Norms. From the maqāṣid perspective, this unequivocally represents the protection of the Religion, the Preservation of the Order (Siyasah Shariyyah regarding the Ashabiyyah), the Posterity (Nasal), the Soul (Ruh), and the Property (Mal). The findings of this study indicate that Indonesia's regulation of interfaith marriages illustrates the purposeful incorporation of the Islamic law goals into the state’s family law and the strengthening of legal and social order within a pluralistic context
Encouraging Unity in Diversity via Marriage: The Stories of Interfaith Couples and Their Negotiations with State Obligations in Same-Faith Marriages
This research aims to explore how interfaith couples experience encounter government intervention in supporting same-faith marriage according to article 2 Marriage Law number 1 of 1974. The study employs a qualitative approach, utilizing in-depth interviews, direct observations, and an analysis of marriage documents from six interfaith couples located in Surakarta. The participants were specifically chosen as those who had their interfaith marriages acknowledged by the Surakarta District Court and obtained a marriage certificate from the Surakarta City Population and Civil Registry Office. The gathered data were subjected to analysis through the lens of Stella Ting-Toomey’s identity negotiation theory, which highlights four essential skills individuals must possess to effectively navigate differences: self-awareness, awareness of others, adaptability, and empathy. The findings indicate that each interfaith couple in Surakarta engages in negotiation at three key stages: pre-marital negotiations, negotiations occurring during the marriage, and post-marital negotiations. Among the six couples studied, there was no uniformity in the negotiation patterns relating to the governmental-religious obligation that typically favours one-religion marriage. Three distinct negotiation patterns emerged: fully adhering to a state-sanctioned religious marriage, opting for a religious marriage instead of a state marriage, and preferring a state marriage over a religious one

Syariah fintech lending as a profit sharing-based MSMEs funding solution in the era of society 5.0
This study aims to investigate the innovation of sharia fintech lending as a solution to the funding challenges faced by Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia, focusing on the application of profit-sharing financing models and their impact on MSME development in the Society 5.0 era. A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) methodology was employed, utilizing the PRISMA framework to identify, screen, and evaluate relevant studies published within the last five years. The review process resulted in the inclusion of 21 articles that formed the foundation for this study. The findings indicate that MSMEs in Indonesia face significant barriers to funding from conventional financial institutions due to high interest rates and stringent collateral requirements. Sharia fintech lending, utilizing profit-sharing models such as mudharabah and musyarakah, emerges as a fairer and more accessible alternative, promoting financial inclusion and addressing the unique needs of MSMEs. The study highlights the potential of sharia fintech lending to enhance financial inclusion and drive economic growth by providing MSMEs with easier access to financing without the constraints of conventional banking. It recommends further development of digital infrastructure and collaboration among stakeholders to expand the adoption of sharia fintech lending, fostering sustainable economic growth
DIALEKTIKA OTONOMI DAN TEOSENTRISME: REKONSTRUKSI NILAI PENDIDIKAN KARAKTER DARI TAFSIR JAMI’ AL-BAYAN PADA SURAH AL-FATIHAH AYAT 5
This study addresses the identity and resilience crisis experienced by Indonesian students today, reflected in their dependence on social validation and tendency to lose hope when facing failure. To explore possible solutions within the Islamic intellectual tradition, this study examines Surah al-Fatihah, verse 5, through the lens of Imam al-Tabari’s Jāmiʿ al-Bayān, which offers two central concepts. The first is ʿubūdiyyah in the phrase iyyāka na’budu, which strengthens theocentric autonomy by freeing the self from reliance on other human beings. The second is istiʿānah in the phrase wa iyyāka nasta’īn, which provides steadiness and hope amid human limitations. The study used a qualitative library method and applied a hybrid tahlili–maudhu’i approach. This approach relied on tahlili hermeneutics as the basis for linguistic and historical analysis of classical reports from the Companions, the Successors, and early Arabic poetry, and then organized the findings thematically within a character education framework. The results show that na’budu nurtures theocentric autonomy that frees students from the pressures of external judgment, while nasta’īn cultivates transcendental optimism that helps them remain steadfast after exerting effort. The study concludes with practical recommendations for the Islamic Religious Education curriculum, emphasizing clearer learning outcomes, reflective learning practices, and a school culture that encourages a balanced integration of effort and trust in God as the foundation of student resilience
A CONTRADICTORY RELATIONS AND PERPETUATION OF COLONIAL DISCOURSE IN INDONESIA DARI PINGGIR BY FATRIS MF
This research aims to describe the travel novel Indonesia dari Pinggir by Fatris MF that tries to convey to the world the charm of people, culture, and regions in the Eastern part of Indonesia. However, at the same time, the author presents contradictory narratives, irony, negotiation, and efforts to accommodate the voice of the East to be in dialogue and even contrasted with the West. Therefore, the researcher conducted an academic exploration of the author's ambivalent position, simultaneously resisting and perpetuating the colonial discourse. This research is descriptive qualitative research. The data in this research were taken from the novel Indonesia dari Pinggir by Fatris MF, consisting of words, phrases, sentences, paragraphs, and dialog between characters related to the research problem. Using Carl Thompson's concept of travel writing, the researcher found that the strategies of reporting the world and representing the other in this novel reveal the eastern Indonesian people who are often described as "the other" through exotic, primitive, and inferior. A narrative of revealing the self emphasizes the author's personal experience as a critical analysis in revealing the dynamics of the representation of eastern Indonesia in travel narratives. Keywords: colonial discourse, contradictory relation, deviation strategy, Indonesia dari Pinggir, travel literatur
Enhancing Arabic Reading Skills through the Group Investigation Model Using Padlet
This research stems from the issue of students’ low engagement and limited comprehension in traditional reading skill instruction. Accordingly, it aims to evaluate the effectiveness of utilizing Padlet media in combination with the Group Investigation model to enhance reading proficiency among students at MTs Islam Wahid Hasyim 1 Malang, employing a quantitative, quasi-experimental approach. The sample consisted of 40 eighth-grade students. The data collection procedures comprised observation, documentation, and testing, while data analysis was carried out through normality and homogeneity tests, followed by hypothesis testing using SPSS version 21. The findings revealed that the integration of Padlet with the Group Investigation model required organizing students into small groups, within which they collaboratively analyzed, interpreted reading texts, discussing meanings and vocabulary, and presenting their findings on Padlet in the form of summaries, notes, or images. The teacher observed and facilitated each group. Afterwards, students presented the results of their investigation and answered questions from other groups. The results of the statistical analysis yielded a significance level of 0.000, which is below the 0.05 significance criterion. Accordingly, the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected, and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. These findings confirm that the use of Padlet integrated with the Group Investigation model significantly improved students’ reading performance. This research provides useful insights for teachers in designing more interactive and meaningful learning and can serve as a reference for other researchers interested in developing innovative methods in Arabic language education
