From Digital Religion to Digital Islam: Finding God in the Society 5.0 through Maqāsīd Sharī’ah

    No full text
This study researches the development of Digital Islam and attempts to apply Maqāṣid al-Sharī'ah (the objectives of the Islamic law) to Society 5.0. It seeks to document the merger of traditional legal wisdom and contemporaneous digital life through content analysis. It starts by proposing an argument that Digital Religion is an important modern debate. Digital Religion is the conversion of holy signs, artifacts and religious/faith-based words from in-person to online mediums, where there is synchronous interaction between the online and offline worlds. This study maintains that Digital Islam is the most advanced expression of this phenomena. Digital interactions, directed toward the attainment of Maṣlaḥah and the avoidance of Mafsadah, ethically contain the use of technology to not be simply instrumental, but to promote good. This study, most importantly, shows how Maqāṣid al-Sharī’ah still has relevance in ‘implementing Divinity’ within an ostensibly ‘secular’ Society 5.0. Finally, it discusses the possible points of ‘friction’ and structural impediments that may occur as the intersection of Islamic Digital Ethics and the ever-accelerating, disruptive nature of the new technologies

Global trends of da’wah research in the digital era: Scopus-based bibliometric analysis

practices and strategies globally. Although digital da'wah has become integral to socio-religious life, scientific studies mapping global trends remain limited, particularly those based on quantitative data from reputable sources like Scopus. This study analyzes global trends in digital da'wah research using a bibliometric approach on 170 journal articles published between 2013-2025 and indexed in Scopus. The bibliometric method evaluates publication patterns, prolific authors, international collaborations, topic evolution, and keyword networks. Results show a sharp increase in publications since 2019, peaking in 2024. Topics such as Islam, social media, and digital religion dominate as motor themes, while Islamic education and digital literacy show potential as future trends. Indonesia contributes the most publications, though international collaboration remains limited. This study's novelty lies in comprehensive mapping of digital da'wah trends from a global perspective using Scopus bibliometric data, rarely done before. The main contribution is presenting a conceptual framework connecting the digital era, da'wah media, and Islamic social transformation, while providing insights for academics and practitioners to design more adaptive, data-based da'wah strategies in the digital age

The Feminine Nature: Goddess Figures and Their Ecological Meanings in the Classical Period of Nusantara

    No full text
This study explores the relationship between feminine spirituality and the environment within the Hindu-Buddhist traditions of the Nusantara. Feminine spirituality in this context refers to the representation of goddesses as symbols of a fertile, harmonious and sacred nature. The concept of “feminine nature” reflects the understanding of nature as a living entity associated with the female body and energy—a worldview articulated visually through reliefs, statues, and mythological narratives during the classical period of the Indonesian archipelago. Through iconographic analysis of figures such as Dewi Sri, Parwati, Tara and Durga in their local contexts, this research demonstrates that these goddesses functioned as objects of worship and as mediums for conveying ecological values rooted in the cosmology of agrarian and maritime societies. The interdisciplinary approach—combining cultural history, visual archaeology, and ecofeminist theory—offers a new interpretation of spiritual heritage as a normative system containing moral and ecological ethics. By situating goddess figures within their historical context, this paper aims to reconstruct the ecological imagination of the Hindu-Buddhist era as a cultural legacy that remains relevant in contemporary discourses on environmental justice and feminism. This study also paves the way for the reinterpretation of local heritage that has long remained marginalized in global feminist discourse

Generative AI literacy, mindful learning engagement, and academic integrity: An explanatory sequential mixed-methods study on critical thinking development

    No full text
The rapid integration of generative artificial intelligence (AI) in higher education has created both transformative learning opportunities and serious concerns regarding academic integrity and the erosion of critical thinking; however, empirical evidence explaining how AI literacy shapes ethical engagement and higher-order thinking remains limited, particularly within developing country contexts. This study aims to examine the influence of generative AI literacy on students’ critical thinking skills, with academic integrity and mindful learning engagement positioned as mediating variables. Employing an explanatory sequential mixed-methods design, the research involved 115 undergraduate students who completed a 32-item survey analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM), followed by in-depth interviews with 10 purposively selected participants to enrich interpretation. The findings reveal that generative AI literacy significantly predicts academic integrity, mindful learning engagement, and critical thinking. Academic integrity serves as a strong positive mediator, reinforcing ethical reasoning and evaluative judgment, while mindful learning engagement demonstrates a more complex role, indicating that engagement quality, rather than intensity alone, determines its contribution to critical thinking. The study reconceptualizes AI literacy as a multidimensional construct encompassing technical, ethical, and reflective competencies. Practically, it highlights the necessity of integrating ethically grounded and mindfulness-based AI pedagogies to ensure that generative AI enhances, rather than replaces, students’ critical thinking in digitally mediated higher education environments

TEMPORAL SEMANTICS OF VERBAL FORMS IN SURAH AL-BAQARAH: A LINGUISTIC ANALYSIS AND ITS PEDAGOGICAL IMPLICATIONS FOR ARABIC GRAMMAR INSTRUCTION

    No full text
This study analyzes the temporal representation of verbs (fi'il) in Surah al-Baqarah and how the meaning of time is understood and translated into Indonesian. Using qualitative-descriptive methods and data from the mushaf of the Qur'an and the official translation of the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia, this study examines fi’il māḍī and muḍāri' morphosyntaxically, semantically, and pragmatically. The results show that temporal representations in the Qur'an are not linear and literal as in traditional Arabic grammar, but rather contextual and dynamic. Fi’il māḍī and muḍāri' have a flexibility of the meaning of time that depends on the context of syntax, qarīnah, and rhetorical functions in discourse. On the translation side, the Indonesian version generally adjusts the verb tense literally, but shifts in meaning often occur due to differences in language structure. Therefore, understanding the meaning of Qur'anic verbs requires an integrative approach between linguistic analysis and translation strategies. The implications of this research emphasize the importance of teaching nahwu al-Qur'an that combines grammatical aspects with pragmatic contexts and discourse to produce a deeper and more accurate understanding of the text

THE STYLISTIC FEATURES OF DIVINE PROMISES TO BELIEVERS IN SURAH MUHAMMAD: AN ARABIC STYLISTICS STUDY: GAYA BAHASA JANJI ALLAH KEPADA ORANG BERIMAN DALAM SURAH MUHAMMAD (STUDI STILISTIKA ARAB)

    No full text
This study aims to examine the stylistic features employed in conveying divine promises to believers in Surah Muhammad, as well as the linguistic patterns manifested in its verses. The research adopts a qualitative descriptive method with a stylistic approach, focusing specifically on verses that articulate divine promises. The data were collected through close reading and note-taking techniques and subsequently analyzed using linguistic theories encompassing phonology, morphology, syntax, and semantics. The findings indicate that: (1) the dominance of the consonantal sounds lām, mīm, and nūn carries particular stylistic significance, functioning as central phonological elements closely related to the contextual framework of Surah Muhammad. The articulation of divine promises to believers is frequently introduced through oath-based constructions. (2) The use of fiʿl māḍī and fiʿl muḍāriʿ reflects the continuous and enduring nature of divine promises, which apply both in worldly life and in the hereafter. (3) The employment of emphatic structures (tawkīd) and prohibitive expressions serves to reinforce the magnitude and certainty of these promises. (4) The selection of polysemous diction contributes to semantic depth and allows for broader interpretative understanding of the messages conveyed in the verses

Exploring resilience of Filipino college students with siblings on the autism spectrum: A qualitative approach

    No full text
Despite the growing attention to autism spectrum disorder (ASD), limited research has explored the lived experiences and resilience of sibling caregivers. This qualitative study explored how Filipino college students with siblings diagnosed with ASD navigate academic, emotional, and familial responsibilities while managing caregiving challenges. Seven participants were purposively selected and engaged in semi-structured interviews using a phenomenological approach to capture their lived experiences and resilience. Findings revealed that resilience is fostered through spirituality, family beliefs, adaptive roles, and emotional communication. Participants reframed their caregiving experiences into meaning-making that shaped personal growth and career goals, and their empathy with others who share similar experiences. Despite enduring emotional burdens and having to make academic sacrifices, they demonstrated emotional maturity, role flexibility, and coping strategies rooted in family connectedness. These insights highlight the complex interplay between caregiving and student development. The study underscores the need for culturally sensitive, family-centered programs that support the mental health and academic struggles of sibling caregivers striving to balance their educational and caregiving duties

The research findings identified that the characterization of the character Aku is divided into five types, namely first as the main character; second, as a protagonist; third, as a round character; fourth, as a developing character; and fifth, as a neutral character. The forms of the main character's traits include patience, persistence, anger, attentiveness, unstable, hatred, and vengeance. This research also reveals the personality structure of the main character who has a complete personality structure, although Id is more dominant than Ego and Superego with the amount of data Id 4 data, Ego 2 data, and Superego 3 data. This research contributes to the development of Arabic literature studies by analyzing characterizations and psychological aspects in literary works so as to expand the scope of Arabic literary theory

Framing happiness in Fahruddin Faiz’s digital sermons on the Ngaji Filsafat YouTube channel: A William A. Gamson’s perspective

    No full text
Research on digital da'wah has tended to be descriptive and has not examined much about how narratives of happiness are discursively framed. This study aims to analyze the framing of narratives of happiness in Dr. Fahruddin Faiz's digital lectures on the Ngaji Filsafat YouTube channel using William A. Gamson's framing theory. This study uses a qualitative discourse analysis approach with data in the form of transcripts of lectures on the theme of happiness collected through documentation, observation, and reflective field notes. Data analysis was carried out through the stages of data condensation, data presentation, and drawing conclusions according to Miles and Huberman. The results show that narratives of happiness are constructed through framing devices in the form of metaphors, key phrases, illustrative examples, and visual imagery supported by spiritual-existential reasoning patterns. Happiness is positioned as a process of self-management and ongoing spiritual orientation. Implicatively, these findings emphasize the role of digital da'wah as a psycho-religious framework in building the psychological resilience of audiences in the contemporary digital space

From Words to World: Attitudinal Appraisal Analysis of China's Anhui Provincial Tourism Branding on TikTok

    No full text
Digital media has opened new avenues for emerging destinations to shape tourist perceptions by projecting their tourism imaginaries to global audiences. However, there is a lack of study on how tourism imaginaries are constructed through attitudinal resources, especially in the context of emerging destinations. Therefore, this study examines the discursive construction of tourism imaginaries in Anhui Province, China, through its official TikTok promotions. A corpus of 203 videos was compiled, and the verbal elements were analyzed using corpus-assisted discourse and semantic analysis. Anhui’s tourism imaginaries and the attitudinal resources based on the attitude subsystem of Appraisal Theory were identified. The evaluative meanings embedded in these imaginaries were then examined through qualitative discourse analysis. The findings show that Anhui mainly uses ‘appreciation’ and ‘affect’ resources to construct positive tourism imaginaries, which include majestic natural scenery, timeless elegance, vibrant cultural festivals, exquisite cuisine, and dynamic urban life. This study suggests that the attitude system offers a useful lens for examining the verbal construction of tourism imaginaries in digital promotional contexts and demonstrates how evaluative language can be strategically used to elevate destination branding and enhance global visibility
