Curriculum and inclusion: critical issues and redefinition lines
The aim of this article is to analyze the core of the curriculum-inclusion pair according to a specific interpretation that reconsiders the inclusive identity of scholastic institutes, able to programme a balanced curriculum both in disciplinary demands and Quality of Life remarkable areas, for all students, with and without disabilities. Beginning from the theoretical framework of the Quality of Life, the authors, after the illustration of the issues related to Italian and Brazilian context and referring to two pilot studies with specialized teachers, identify some areas of intervention that could lead to consider the curriculum in an inclusive perspective, without the individualization of specific curricular forms, exclusively devoted to this perspective
Superare Caporetto.
An equivalent layer-wise approach for the free vibration analysis of thick and thin laminated and sandwich shells
The main purpose of the paper is to present an innovative higher-order structural theory to accurately evaluate the natural frequencies of laminated composite shells. A new kinematic model is developed starting from the theoretical framework given by a unified formulation. The kinematic expansion is taken as a free parameter, and the three-dimensional displacement field is described by using alternatively the Legendre or Lagrange polynomials, following the key points of the most typical Layer-wise (LW) approaches. The structure is considered as a unique body and all the geometric and mechanical properties are evaluated on the shell middle surface, following the idea of the well-known Equivalent Single Layer (ESL) models. For this purpose, the name Equivalent Layer-Wise (ELW) is introduced to define the present approach. The governing equations are solved numerically by means of the Generalized Differential Quadrature (GDQ) method and the solutions are compared with the results available in the literature or obtained through a commercial finite element program. Due to the generality of the current method, several boundary conditions and various mechanical and geometric configurations are considered. Finally, it should be underlined that different doubly-curved surfaces may be considered following the mathematical framework given by the differential geometry
Acquired ptosis associated with oculomotor and contralateral facial nerve synkinesis: the first reported case
Evidence of oculomotor nerve (ON) synkinesis is a common occurrence following both acquired and congenital III nerve palsy. It is generally accepted that aberrant regeneration is the likely aetiology of synkinesis in acquired III nerve palsy, following intracranial aneurysm,
trauma, compressive neoplasms, cavernous sinus thrombosis and basilar meningitis
Testing an RFID receiving gate for improving process accuracy in fashion and apparel retail
This paper presents activities conducted with the aim to design and test an RFID receiving gate for the fashion and apparel retail industry. To ensure high receiving performance, specific lab tests were designed and conducted to identify and set the basic RFID gate design parameters. During the test, we designed and built a specific receiving infrastructure made up of a metal frame and an RFID gate with four antennas and one reader, positioned in the middle of the tunnel itself. The tests were conducted by changing (i) the type of antennas, (ii) shielding / non-shielding with RF absorbing material the exit of the tunnel, and (iii) changing the RFID reading power. The performance of the RFID receiving tunnel are evaluated in terms of (i) number of tag reads, with respect to the total number of expected tags; (ii) number of false reads (e.g. tags read outside the tunnel) and (iii) read count for each tag. The performance analysis allowed us to define the optimal settings for the RFID receiving tunnel, to ensure the maximum value of receiving process accuracy with the minimum reading power, and thus minimum number of false reads
