PREVALENCE OF NASAL POLYPS AND THEIR ASSOCIATION WITH ASTHMA AND ALLERGIC CONDITIONS
This study investigates the prevalence of nasal polyps (NP) and their relationship with asthma and allergic diseases in a large clinical population. Nasal polyps, characterized by benign edematous growths of the nasal or paranasal sinus mucosa, are a common manifestation of chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS). Their occurrence is often linked to underlying inflammatory disorders, particularly asthma, aspirin-exacerbated respiratory disease (AERD), and allergic rhinitis. The study evaluates demographic distribution, clinical presentation, comorbid conditions, and the immunopathological mechanisms underlying the co-occurrence of NP and allergic airway diseases. The findings indicate a strong association between nasal polyps and asthma, with allergic sensitization acting as a significant contributing factor. Patients with combined NP and asthma displayed more severe sinonasal symptoms, higher recurrence rates after surgery, and greater systemic eosinophilia. The research underscores the importance of multidisciplinary management and immunomodulatory therapy in addressing the interconnected pathophysiology of upper and lower airway inflammation
RECENT ADVANCES IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF VACCINES AGAINST TOXOPLASMOSIS: CHALLENGES AND FUTURE PERSPECTIVES: SUBJECT REVIEW
Toxoplasmosis, caused by the intracellular parasite Toxoplasma gondii, remains a formidable global health burden due to high seroprevalence and substantial risks associated with congenital transmission, as well as disease in pregnant women and immunocompromised individuals. The current treatment options are unsatisfactory because they are toxic and do not eliminate the tissue cysts during latent infection, thus highlighting the necessity for an efficacious vaccine. Since the last 25 years, vaccinology has advanced to molecular platforms and DNA vaccine is at the forefront because of its capability of imparting strong Th1 biased cellular immune response. However, breeding has been limited by the parasite's genetic polymorphisms and intricate immune evasive strategy. Through interfacing emerging technologies (e.g. CRISPR/Cas9 for precise gene deletion, nanotechnology-based targeted delivery platforms, and immunoinformatics-aided epitope prediction), stabilizing and protecting multi-antigenic candidates can be realized. A long-term solution will ultimately depend on a “One Health” focus that emphasizes the vaccination of feline and livestock hosts together with induction of mucosal immunity to prevent primary transmission in order to protect both human and animal communities
THE ROLE OF ENDOSCOPIC SINUS SURGERY IN THE MANAGEMENT OF CHRONIC RHINOSINUSITIS
This study provides a comprehensive evaluation of the clinical significance, indications, and therapeutic outcomes of endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS) in the management of chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS). Chronic rhinosinusitis is a persistent inflammatory disorder of the paranasal sinuses and nasal mucosa that causes nasal obstruction, facial pain, and impaired olfaction. The research emphasizes the effectiveness of ESS as a minimally invasive surgical approach designed to restore normal sinus ventilation and drainage, remove diseased mucosa, and improve the penetration of topical medications. Clinical outcomes, including symptom relief, quality of life improvement, and postoperative recurrence rates, are analyzed. Findings indicate that ESS, when performed based on precise diagnostic evaluation and combined with appropriate medical therapy, provides significant long-term benefits, minimizes disease recurrence, and enhances patient quality of life. The study underlines the importance of proper patient selection, surgical precision, and postoperative care in optimizing ESS outcomes for CRS. This paper presents a detailed clinical and analytical evaluation of the therapeutic role of endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS) in the management of chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS). The research focuses on the effectiveness of ESS in restoring sinus ventilation and mucociliary function, alleviating chronic inflammation, and improving patients’ quality of life. Chronic rhinosinusitis is characterized by persistent sinonasal inflammation lasting over 12 weeks and is often resistant to medical management. The study highlights the superior outcomes of ESS when combined with medical therapy, showing significant improvements in symptom relief, nasal airflow, olfactory recovery, and radiologic findings. The data reveal that a personalized surgical approach based on disease severity and anatomical characteristics leads to long-term success and minimal recurrence. These results underscore the importance of ESS as a key component in evidence-based treatment algorithms for patients with refractory CRS, integrating surgical precision with ongoing postoperative care for sustained clinical benefit
