Euphrates River Pollution Acute and Chronic Toxicity Revealed by Bioassays
Bioassays are critical for assessing water pollution and its risks to ecosystems. This study evaluated the pollution of the Euphrates River in Nasiriyah during winter and spring, focusing on three stations: Sharif (entrance to the city), post-thermal energy, and Sedinawiyah (sewage disposal). Chlorella vulgaris growth rates were analyzed in river water samples over 24, 48, and 96 hours. The highest growth rate deviation was observed at station 2 in spring (91.0%) and station 3 in winter (66.0%). Results indicated varying levels of water toxicity, ranging from acute to chronic, influenced by human activities and seasonal changes. These findings highlight the significant impact of pollution on the Euphrates River, emphasizing the need for continuous monitoring and mitigation strategies
Potential of Biosynthesized Heavy Metal Nanoparticles as Antibacterial Agents in Water Treatment Applications: A Review
The need to explore new, sustainable water treatment methods is defined by an increasing prevalence of pathogenic bacteria in rivers. Biosynthesized heavy metal nanoparticles, or ''BHMNs'', are ''an'' examples of what could be termed environmentally heavy technology. The antibacterial efficiency of ''BHMNs'' in water treatment applications is systematically studied in this article. We surveyed many biological sources used to preparation ''BHMNs'' and gave reasons why these methods should be regarded as alternatives to traditional ones. The review also explores the different mechanisms by which ''BHMNs'' exercise their antibacterial effects including membrane rupture, DNA breakdown, and the production of reactive oxygen species. Another topic dealt with in the review is an appraisal, based on recent studies, of the efficiency of ''BHMNs'' as an antidote to a range of aquatic maladies. In addition, the review discusses potential disadvantages of widespread use of ''BHMNs'' in water treatment, including output increase and stability over time as well as environmental impact. based on recent studies We point out that the increased application of BHNs in water treatment is expected to yield a greater antimicrobial effect by showing the potential of BHMNs as a sanitary alternative to traditional techniques. The modern volleyball game is characterized by speed and strong performance throughout the match, and this requires players to possess a high level of special strength that qualifies them to continue positive performance until the end of the match and achieve victory. Through the experience of the researchers, as they are former players and coaches of this game, and its current presence in the scientific and practical field, and their continuous follow-up of Al-Qasim Sports Club in volleyball, they noticed a weakness in the back smash, in addition to the great development of the blocking wall. Which made it difficult to perform a close front smash, and this gave importance to the back smash as it is performed from the back area. Therefore, the player needs a high level of special strength in the arms and legs in order to succeed in the back smash skill, so the researchers decided to develop specific exercises using the Vertimax device. To develop the special strength of the arms and legs and the skill of backhand smashing for junior volleyball players. The research aims to:
1- Preparing exercises using the Vertimax device to develop special strength and the skill of hitting the back smash in volleyball for juniors.

1- The specific exercises used on the Vertimax device have a positive effect on the development of the explosive strength of the legs and arms and the skill of backhand smashing for junior volleyball players.
2- The method followed by the coach has a positive impact on the development of the explosive power of the legs and arms and the skill of backhand smashing for junior volleyball players
Study the Effect of Etching Current Time on Porous Silicon Preparation
This study aims to investigate the effect of etching current time on the preparation of porous silicon using the photoelectrochemical etching method. N-type silicon (111) with a resistivity of 1.5-4 Ω.cm was used to prepare the porous silicon layers. The etching process was carried out using a solution of hydrofluoric acid (HF) with a concentration of 18% mixed with high-purity ethanol. The etching current densities were varied at 10, 15, 20, and 30 mA/cm² with an etching time of 15 minutes. The structural and morphological characterization of the porous silicon layers was performed using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), and Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM). The XRD results showed a broad diffraction peak as the crystal size decreased to the nanometer scale. SEM and AFM images revealed that the porous silicon layer had a sponge-like structure, with pore sizes increasing as the etching current density increased
The Negative Effect Of Cisplatine On The Reproductive System Of Albino Rats And The Preventive Role Of Silybum Marianum Seed Extract And Vitamin C
This "study aims to test the efficacy of Silybum marianum and vitamin C against CP toxicity on hormone secretion and testicular function in sperm production. Thirty male albino mice aged between (98-112) days were used. The animals were divided into (6 groups) (five per group) and the animals were treated with cisplatin, vitamin C and alcoholic extract of Silybum marianum for one month as follows: control group (i) animals given distilled water (1 ml), infected group (ii) injected with CP at a concentration of (2 mg/kg) subperitoneally once a week, group (iii) injected with vitamin C at a concentration of (100 mg/kg), group (iii) injected with alcoholic extract of Silybum marianum at a concentration of (200) mg/kg, group (iiii) injected subperitoneally with CP at a concentration of (2 mg/kg) weekly for 4 weeks and injected with vitamin C daily at a concentration of (100 mg/kg) at one time until the end of the experiment, group (iiii) injected subperitoneally with CP at a concentration of (2 mg/kg) were given a dose of alcoholic extract of Silybum marianum At a concentration of (200 mg/kg) daily at the same time weekly for 4 weeks until the end of the experiment. After the end of the dose period, the rats were anesthetized, then blood was drawn by cardiac stab and placed in a gel tube and placed in a centrifuge for 20 minutes / 5000 rpm. The serum was stored at a temperature of 20 °C in an Eppendorf tube until the date of testing the hormones LH, FSH and testosterone. After that, the animals were dissected, the testicles were removed and placed in formalin (10%) for fixation for three days, then washed with water and stored in 70% alcohol. The results showed the following: Figure 1, 2, 3 show that the CP-treated group showed a significant decrease in the concentration of LH, FST and testosterone hormones compared to the healthy group, while treatment with vitamin C, treatment with Silybum marianum alcoholic extract, treatment with vitamin C and cisplatin, treatment with Silybum marianum alcoholic extract and CP led to a significant increase in the concentration of LH, FST and testosterone hormones compared to the control group. The results of the histological sections of the testicles showed the presence of colloidal material inside the tubules and incomplete maturation of spermatozoa in the cisplatin-treated group. In the vitamin C-treated group and the Silybum marianum extract-treated group, the seminiferous tubules appeared normal and the stages of spermatogenesis were observed with the observation of Leydig cells. Histological sections of the CP and vitamin C treated group and the CP and Silybum marianum extract treated group showed that the seminiferous tubules were in normal shape, and the stages of spermatogenesis were observed, with Leydig cells" observed
