Latin sources on epistle 12: ¿Cicero, Suárez or Nizolius?
In Epistle 12 Spinoza uses two significant and unusual expressions: “a rebus aeternis fluit” and “ab aeternitate fluunt”. It has been argued that its origin can be found in De divinatione of Cicero, whose work Spinoza would have known in depth, although it can also be found in the Disputationes metaphysicae of Suárez, the main representative of the scholasticism of the time. In the present work, the reasons that would speak in favour of one or the other hypothesis are presented. It also examines the intermediaries that may have existed between the aforementioned authors and Spinoza, in particular the Thesaurus Ciceronianus by Marius Nizolius, a book that seems to explain the presence of numerous Ciceronian works in Spinoza, and the Meletemata philosophica by Adriaan Heereboord

This paper foregrounds the significance of the practical dimension in the process of initial teacher education for basic education. It addresses the imbalance in the theory–practice relationship and the limited effectiveness of supervised internships within Pedagogy programs, particularly when compared to certain teacher induction initiatives that have emerged in Brazil to mitigate such weaknesses. While these initiatives have contributed positively to the quality of initial teacher preparation, their inability to effect structural changes within degree programs highlights the pressing need to revise and strengthen supervised internships. Such enhancement should be grounded in actions including: the engagement of school teachers (supervisors) as co-educators of prospective teachers; the promotion of partnerships and sustained dialogue between university and school teachers; and the design of activities and projects that place student teachers in direct interaction with the concrete challenges of everyday school life, under the guidance of experienced teachers. These measures aim to foster closer integration between professional practical knowledge and academic knowledge, while simultaneously acknowledging the shared responsibility of all actors involved in the formative process.
"Productive friction" is an alternative to ease-of-use in Human-Centred Design, which is valued for enhancing experience and rationalising workflows, but is often linked to superficial interactions and diminished thought. The study draws from interaction design, game studies and speculative design to formulate a conceptual framework for reintroducing challenges, disruptions and unpredictability as stimuli for thinking and creativity. Engineering friction in the digital environment may consciously be engineered to stimulate cognitive processing and participation (Jones, 2019). The practical outcomes of applications, ranging from adaptive e-learning platforms and design-based educational tools to game mechanics and interactive installations, have been found to enrich experiential outcomes and renew the discourse between them and the media. The study combines psychology insights, research into teaching methods, and real-time adaptive algorithms to counter the risks of standardisation and radicalisation that uniform design may pose.

Towards a Generic NFT-Driven Digital Twin Simulation Platform: A Systematic Literature Review
A new approach to asset management and traceability emerges upon the integration of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) and Digital Twin (DT) technology. While NFTs are widely used in digital art and gaming, their potential for securing real-world assets in DT simulations remains under-explored. A generic NFT-driven DT simulation platform could transform asset management by enhancing traceability, optimizing operations, and fostering sustainability within and across industries. In livestock management, DTs can model individual animals in real time, capturing data on health and growth. Linking this data to NFTs ensures ownership and provenance, improving traceability and accountability. Similarly, in manufacturing, DTs can identify inefficiencies, reducing waste and energy use. It is pressing to improve decision-making and operational efficiencies throughout distinct contexts. A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) was conducted following PRISMA. The goal was to build a solid, unbiased foundation for our research, contribute lasting value to the community, and identify where our work can make the most impact. From an initial set of 114 papers, the authors screened and classified the most relevant. This led to a final selection of 8 papers for full-text reading and in-depth analysis. They are presented in detail and compared in order to depict the current state of the art in the field. Results reveal a significant gap concerning the topic, particularly highlighting the absence of simulation environments that align with the previous proposal presented by the authors: a comprehensive NFT-driven and DT simulation platform that transforms NFT-based asset management from static ownership records to dynamic, provides simulation operational tools, enables real-time monitoring, predictive maintenance, and performance optimization for real-world assets
Determinants of tourist intentions to use mobile applications for accommodation booking: Insights from Ho Chi Minh City
The present study examines the factors influencing tourists\u27 intentions to book accommodation in Ho Chi Minh City, using mobile applications. It addresses various purchasing behaviours on platforms such as Airbnb, Agoda, and Booking.com. The findings offer strategic insights for policymakers and industry stakeholders aiming to enhance app adoption among hoteliers. Grounded in the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) framework, this study expands the model by incorporating social influence, pricing strategies, payment systems, and security perceptions to reflect the complexities of mobile booking behaviours. Data were collected through face-to-face questionnaires distributed to 332 domestic tourists between January and March 2024 and analysed using SPSS version 26. The study identifies key factors affecting usage intentions, with social influence emerging as the strongest predictor (β = 0.313), followed by perceived ease of use (β = 0.250) and perceived usefulness (β = 0.203). The regression model explains approximately 55.2% of the variance in usage intention, highlighting the critical role of these determinants in mobile app adoption. This research contextualises TAM within a culturally specific setting, sizing the interplay of trust in digital platforms and social norms. The findings enhance the understanding of mobile app adoption behaviour in Ho Chi Minh City and similar environments. Keywords | mobile accommodation booking, Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), social influence, pricing strategies, payment systems, security perception
Antígona – A Noção Mítica de Justiça
The hermeneutical analysis of the relationship among the episodes and the choral chants, of the episodes sequency and of repetitions in each episod shows that the plot of Sophocles’ tragedy Antigone is organized around and supported by the mythical notion of the connection between “Justice” (Díke) and “Destiny” (or “Portion”, Moîra) and around the tribal notion of collective penal justice. It will be verified that and how, in this tragedy, the plot is a diegetic image of mythical notion of justice – the Justice of Zeus.
In modern times, the figure of Antigone has become an emblem in the struggle for liberty from oppression. It provides a fitting focus for a conference that celebrates the 50th anniversary of the carnation revolution in Portugal. This paper starts by identifying and analysing some of the contexts and performance styles in which contemporary concerns have shaped interpretation, translation, adaptation and performance of Sophocles’ text. The main part of the discussion then poses the question of whether ‘present’ concerns have appropriated the play in ways that marginalise or even excise some aspects of Sophocles’ text. ‘Presentism’ has often been used by classicists as a term of disapprobation in order to criticise subsequent receptions of ancient texts, sometimes with the implication that there is a fixed meaning to be discovered if the ancient text is considered philologically and in terms of the context of its composition and performance, and that ‘presentist’ interpretations subvert this. The paper then argues that: (i) there is a variety of ‘presentist’ perspectives. Some are inevitable in scholarly work as well as in the creative processes attached to performance and spectating. The ‘present’ (any present) is one node in a network of mediations and receptions. The concerns, life experiences and cultural and ethical hinterlands of the practitioners and scholars working with Sophocles’ Antigone inevitably have a shaping role in their agency because their life experiences and socio-cultural orientations are not confined to those of ancient Greece. The same is true of readers and spectators who, wittingly or unwittingly, relate the play to their own ‘present’. These ‘present’ concerns can generate a positive engagement with the ancient text and context. They only become negative if they are unacknowledged and if they close down meaning. (ii) Philological and performative analysis of Sophocles’ play demonstrates that the tragedian himself was engaged in a form of ‘presentist’ activity. The narratives associated with Antigone and her family were adapted and augmented through a lens that reflected the social, religious and political urgencies of fifth-century Athens, especially the contested relationships between funerary traditions and social cohesion and the transfer of power from aristocratic families to the polis. The concluding section of the paper argues that analysis of the relationship between ancient and modern ‘presentisms’ enhances both scholarly commentary and critique of tragedy in performance. Sophocles’ play provides a site of temporal and metaphorical space that promotes and provokes engagement between ancient and modern, to the benefit of both.
The translation of Sophocles’ Antigone by Guilherme de Almeida (1890-1969) – or “transcription”, as the translator preferred to call it, originally published in 1952 – is an achievement whose scope can be glimpsed by an observation about its reception by experts in the Greek language and literature. Conceived for the theater, the modernist poet’s Antigone was presented at the Teatro Brasileiro de Comédia on August 21, 1952; with a cast of actors renowned in Brazil, the play was a great success with the public by the standards of the time. The communicability of the translated text, demonstrated since its appearance on the scene, resists today, as I intend to demonstrate in this article, due to its qualities related to the prioritization of a rhythm constructed from a path of familiarization with the original text.
