Shift de modalidade deôntica na interpretação simultânea: um estudo de caso
This paper aims to perform a semantic analysis of the Portuguese deontic modal verbs “ter de” and “ter que”, used in a simultaneous interpretation in the Legislative Assembly of Macau. To this end, we resort to the modal logic theories of Kripke (2003), Kratzer (1977) and Portner (2009), understanding the issues of necessity and possibility through the semantics of possible worlds. Therefore, was selected a Cantonese-Portuguese simultaneous interpretation of a plenary meeting, during which social issues were discussed by Legislative Assembly members and the chief executive. After the construction of the corpus, the occurrences of semantic shift of modal verbs in the interpretation are verified, then, we observe the reasoning of such application, and the respective sociopolitical influences. The results show that most of the mentioned verbs come from shift, indicating an increase in modal force. Consequently, the semantic shifts are reflected in the news published by the local Portuguese media.Este artigo tem por objetivo fazer uma análise semântica dos verbos modais deônticos “ter de” e “ter que”, empregados numa interpretação simultânea na Assembleia Legislativa de Macau. Para isso, recorre-se às teorias de lógica modal de Kripke (2003), Kratzer (1977) e Portner (2009), que entendem as questões de necessidade e possibilidade através da semântica de mundos possíveis. Assim sendo, foi selecionada a interpretação simultânea cantonês-português, de uma reunião plenária em que se discutiram os assuntos sociais pelos deputados e o chefe do executivo. Após a construção do corpus, verificam-se as ocorrências de shift semântico dos verbos modais na interpretação, e observam-se o raciocínio da sua aplicação e as respetivas influências sociopolíticas. Os resultados demonstram que a maioria dos verbos mencionados é pertinente ao shift, indicando aumento da força modal. As mudanças semânticas são, consequentemente, refletidas nas notícias editadas pelos média portugueses locais
El influjo de los progymnasta en la novela griega: la etopeya en Leucipa y Clitofonte
This paper aims to analyse the presence of the ethopoeia (ἠθοποιία) in Achilles Tatius’ Leucippe and Clitophon. Firstly, examples of ethopoeia in this novel are identified and classified, and then their formal features and their function are studied. This highlights how Achilles Tatius follows the recommendations prescribed by the Progymnasmata handbooks, although in a free way, adapting them to his narrative and stylistic needs.En el presente artículo se pretende analizar la presencia de la etopeya (ἠθοποιία) en Leucipa y Clitofonte de Aquiles Tacio. Se identifican y clasifican primero los ejemplos de etopeya que aparecen en esta novela, para después estudiar sus rasgos formales y su función. Se pone con ello de relieve la forma en que Aquiles Tacio sigue las recomendaciones de los manuales progimnasmáticos, aunque de una manera libre, adaptándolas a sus necesidades narrativas y estilísticas
A Digital Twin for the Monastery of Sant Genís de Rocafort, Martorell, Barcelona: Experiences in Research and Dissemination
The Monastery of Sant Genís de Rocafort (Martorell, Barcelona) has been the subject of archaeological excavation for over a decade. This work has uncovered Romanesque structures and some earlier elements, significantly enhancing our understanding of this monument, which is listed as a BCIN (Cultural Asset of National Interest), and its history. However, the site’s location and accessibility challenges have limited the opportunity for certain audiences to visit and learn about it. In this context, the research team has developed a digital twin of the monastery, a three-dimensional recreation that offers significant potential both for heritage dissemination and basic archaeological research. This project has enabled precise documentation of the structures and created an accessible resource that brings the monastery to a wide range of audiences while also allowing us to experiment with different reconstruction hypotheses. The process of creating the digital twin has raised a series of methodological and conceptual challenges, such as the selection of technological tools and decisions about how to present the site’s narrative. This article reflects on the experience gained throughout this process, exploring the implications of these decisions for both archaeological research and cultural dissemination
Playing with Diplomatic Culture: A Comparative Study of Esports Policies in South Korea and Brazil
This article proposes an analysis of public policies aimed at electronic sports (esports) as a tool for cultural diplomacy in South Korea and Brazil. Its objective is to determine whether esports are used by these states as a foreign policy resource to achieve absolute gains in the international sphere, based on a qualitative analysis of data obtained from South Korean and Brazilian legislation on the subject. The corpus consists of 50 documents addressing this theme, retrieved from the official websites of the South Korean and Brazilian governments. Among the main findings, the South Korean government\u27s consolidated approach to esports stands out. In contrast, Brazil lacks a public policy consensus regarding the subject. However, some international public prestige gains are achieved, even though the state\u27s foundations regarding esports remain incipient. This study presents originality by exploring potential connections between the field of International Relations and the universe of electronic sports, a growing expression of contemporary youth culture
Tourism e-Storytelling in creative territories: proposal of a model for a digital multiplatform of e-Storytelling in creative territories
The research purpose of this paper is to develop a proposal for a model for a digital multiplatform of e-Storytelling in creative territories. For that a literature review was undertaken, to elucidate the current state of the art concerning the main concepts: creative tourism development models, creative territories, and e-Storytelling. Following a list of creative manifestations, creative territories and localized creative networks in continental Portugal were compiled and a comprehensive examination of creative territories\u27 attributes was conducted, enhancing the understanding of the multifaceted dimensions that shape these dynamic spaces. This information provides a solid and inspiring foundation for the design of an innovative multiplatform e-Storytelling model for creative territories. The model promotes community engagement, facilitating user interaction for a dynamic narrative network in creative territories. It ensures cultural preservation through meticulous curation, safeguarding unique historical and cultural essence. The research\u27s implications extend to tourism management, marketing, and digital technology, offering valuable insights into the dynamic interplay between creativity, tourism, and digital media. The proposed model serves as a practical guide for practitioners and policymakers aiming to enhance tourism storytelling in creative territories
Methods of assessing carrying capacity in hiking trails: a systematic literature review
The sustainability of the tourism system has become a growing concern, especially in recent decades. The impact of tourist activity on ecosystems, the overuse of some tourist infrastructure and facilities, and in many cases the lack of monitoring of these flows and their impacts, have highlighted the need for better planning and management of resources. Defining the carrying capacity of trails is an essential tool for the sustainable management of tourist flows, particularly in sensitive areas and ecosystems. The aim of this study is therefore to identify and evaluate the main methods used to assess the carrying capacity of hiking trails, to identify the correction factors used and the main areas of application of the proposed methods. The search carried out in four scientific repositories and the application of the PRISMA methodology allowed the identification of 39 scientific articles to be included in the review process. The majority of the studies identified use the Cifuentes (1992) methodology, which assesses the carrying capacity of hiking trails located in classified and/or protected areas, mainly on the American continent, with a focus on those published in the last four years
Desenvolvimento de competências através de uma escape room matemática
Today’s students, in addition to acquiring knowledge, must be able to develop other skills, such as critical and creative thinking, problem-solving ability, cooperation, communication in different contexts, autonomy, self-regulation and empathy. In this context, a physical escape room with an original design was created with the objective, not only of developing the aforementioned skills, but also of consolidating, assessing and even introducing new mathematical content, depending on the participants’ grade level. The five challenges of this escape room and its implementation in two phases, in a study room setting and within the scope of the Summer Academy of the University of Aveiro, are briefly described. In this educational approach, participants are immersed in an engaging narrative that creates a state of flow, while solving the math puzzles and deciphering the codes that allow to move on to the next challenge. After the experience, participants answered a questionnaire, using the SurveyMonkey tool. The results are presented and discussed. The importance of careful planning for this type of activity is also highlighted to ensure the success of the experience and its effectiveness as a pedagogical tool.Los estudiantes de hoy, además de adquirir conocimientos, deben ser capaces de desarrollar otras competencias, como el pensamiento crítico y creativo, la capacidad de resolución de problemas, la cooperación, la comunicación en diferentes contextos, la autonomía, la autorregulación y la empatía. En este contexto, se diseñó una escape room física de diseño original con el objetivo no solo de desarrollar las competencias mencionadas, sino también de consolidar, evaluar e incluso introducir nuevos contenidos de Matemáticas, en función del curso escolar de los participantes. Se describen brevemente los cinco desafíos de esta escape room y su implementación en dos fases: en el contexto de una sala de estudio y en el marco de la Academia de Verano de la Universidad de Aveiro. En este enfoque educativo, los participantes se encuentran inmersos en una narrativa cautivadora que genera un estado de flow, mientras resuelven enigmas matemáticos y descifran los códigos para pasar al siguiente reto. Tras la experiencia, los participantes respondieron a un cuestionario, utilizando la herramienta SurveyMonkey. Se presentan y discuten los resultados. Se destacan además la importancia de una buena planificación de este tipo de actividades para garantizar el éxito de la experiencia y su eficacia como herramienta pedagógica.Os alunos de hoje, além de adquirirem conhecimentos, devem ser capazes de desenvolver outras competências, como pensamento crítico e criativo, capacidade de resolução de problemas, cooperação, comunicação em diferentes contextos, autonomia, autorregulação e empatia. Neste contexto, projetou-se uma escape room física de design original, com o objetivo, não só de desenvolver as competências acima mencionadas, como ainda de consolidar, avaliar e até introduzir novos conteúdos de Matemática, em função do ano de escolaridade dos participantes. Descrevem-se sucintamente os cinco desafios desta escape room e a sua implementação em duas fases, em contexto de sala de estudo e no âmbito da Academia de Verão da Universidade de Aveiro. Nesta abordagem educacional, os participantes encontram-se imersos numa narrativa cativante que gera um estado de flow, enquanto resolvem os enigmas matemáticos e decifram os códigos para passar ao próximo desafio. Após a experiência, os participantes responderam a um questionário, usando a ferramenta SurveyMonkey. Apresentam-se e discutem-se os resultados.
