Get PDFDie prospektive, observationale Studie "Kinetik von Procalcitonin bei urologischen Patienten mit Zystektomien und bei Mund-Kiefer-Gesichtschirurgischen Patienten mit ausgedehnten Tumoroperationen ohne postoperative Sepsis" beschreibt die Procalcitonin-Spiegel bei 80 Patienten nach großen urologischen und Mund-Kiefer-Gesichtschirurgischen Eingriffen. Procalcitonin und weitere Inflammationsparameter wurden perioperativ Über einen Zeitraum von vier Tagen bestimmt. Es konnten ein signifikanter Unterschied der postoperativen gegenüber den präoperativen Procalcitonin-Spiegeln gemessen werden, ebenso wie signifikant höhere Procalcitonin-Spiegel bei den urologischen Patienten. Das operative Keimspektrum, die Bakteriämie und die Manipulation am Darm könnten dabei einen maßgeblichen Einfluss auf die Spiegel gehabt haben. Die Daten unterstreichen die Hypothese, dass eine Procalcitonin-Erhöhung oberhalb des physiologischen Plasmaspiegels von < 0,5 ng/ml postoperativ regelhaft erwartbar ist
Künstlerhäuser in England (um 1860): Konzept und Selbstentwurf
Get PDFIn der vorliegenden Arbeit nehme ich das große Interesse, das Künstlerinnen und Künstler, sowie deren Publikum, im 19. Jahrhundert der Gestaltung ihres Wohn- und Arbeitsumfeldes entgegenbrachten zum Ausgangspunkt meiner Untersuchung. Genauer frage ich nach der Bedeutung der künstlerischen Auseinandersetzung mit dem Haus in der Zeit um 1860, die sich, zumal in England, als besonders ergiebig erweist: Das Haus hat Konjunktur in einer Epoche bürgerlichen Wohlstands und Selbstbewusstseins, mit Nachdruck wird es als Interieur errichtet. Doch wie verhalten sich dazu die Strategien, mit denen sich Künstlerinnen und Künstler ihre Häuser aneigneten? Inwiefern lässt sich sagen, dass die Bewohner sich anhand dieser Strategien selbst entwarfen? Am Beispiel des zum Studio umgebauten Cottage der Photographin Julia Margaret Cameron (1815–79) auf der Isle of Wight, sowie des Londoner Atelierhauses des Malers Frederic Leighton (1830–96) stelle ich zwei zeitgleiche Bezugsformen dar, an denen sich höchst verschiedene künstlerische Konzepte beobachten lassen. Hier wie dort erlaubte es das Haus die jeweilige Künstlerschaft umfassend zu „begründen“
Relating the visceral factor of pain to domain-specific risk attitudes
No full textVisceral factors are negative emotions and drive and feeling states that grab people's attention and motivate them to engage in certain behaviors. They can contribute to discrepancies between an individual's long-term self-interest and their actual behavior. One such discrepancy concerns risk-taking in health contexts as well as in a variety of other domains such as financial or career-related decisions. This study examines the relationship between somatic symptoms of pain and domain-specific risk attitudes in participants of a large population-based cohort study. Somatic symptoms refer to back pain; pain in arms, legs, or joints; and headache. We show that the association between pain and risk attitudes is especially robust for the financial and leisure/sports domain across different model specifications. Pain is negatively associated with willingness to take risks in both domains. When controlling for fatigue (another visceral factor), the relationship between pain and risk attitudes persists only in the financial context. However, associations between fatigue and risk attitudes emerge in the general, health, leisure/sports, and career domains. We discuss potential implications of our findings especially in light of financial decision-making

Get PDFLearning systems have achieved remarkable success. Agents trained using Deep RL (DRL) methods, e.g., promise true resilience. However, no guarantees can yet be given for the black-box models that have been learned. For operators of Critical National Infrastructures (CNIs), this is a necessity, as no responsibility for an unknown and unverifiable control system can be assumed. Intrinsically safe learning algorithms and approximate, post-hoc interpretable models exist, but they lack either learning power or explainability. To optimize this trade-off, this thesis presents the NN2EQCDT algorithm, which directly converts a (whole) policy- based Feed-Forward DNN (FF-DNN) into a compressed Decision Tree (DT). Compression is achieved by dynamically checking the satisfiability of the paths of the transformed DTs during construction and disregarding unneeded rules. It can be further increased by using additional methods and considering invariants. It has been observed that the NN2EQCDT algorithm can drastically compress a small policy model, making it possible to exactly track the action regions to their observation regions in a plotted DT and further visualizations. The NN2EQCDT algorithm was then further evaluated by explaining a learned attacker policy model to show that one can ensure that a policy-based FF-DNN has not learned unknown unknown strategies
