Breast Cancer and Its Association with ABO Blood Groups
Breast cancer remains a significant global health challenge, characterized by diverse outcomes and risk factors. This retrospective study examines the association between ABO blood group distribution and breast cancer in 395 female patients compared to a control group of 400 women with benign conditions, sampled from hospitals in Wasit Governorate. The study found that blood group B was predominant among breast cancer patients. Notably, familial cases of breast cancer exhibited a significant excess of blood group B compared to sporadic cases, suggesting a potential genetic association. However, no significant link was found between ABO blood groups and specific histopathological subtypes, indicating that ABO blood groups may influence breast cancer susceptibility through mechanisms independent of tumor morphology. The analysis also revealed significant differences in blood group distribution. Blood type O was more dominant in premenopausal patients, whereas blood type B was more communal in postmenopausal patients. These findings emphasize the essential for further research to study the genetic, hormonal, and environmental factors underlying these associations. In conclusion, this study highlights a potential suggestion between ABO blood groups and breast cancer, emphasizing the importance of exploring the biological mechanisms that link blood group differences to cancer susceptibility
Association Between Latent Toxoplasmosis and Schizophrenia
Toxoplasma gondii, a protozoan parasite, is known to establish a lifelong latent infection in humans. This infection, termed latent toxoplasmosis, has been implicated in various neurological and psychiatric disorders, including schizophrenia. Schizophrenia is a complex psychiatric disorder characterized by disruptions in thought processes, perceptions, and social behavior. While its exact etiology remains elusive, studies have increasingly explored the potential role of infectious agents in its development and progression. Epidemiological studies have shown an association between toxoplasma infection and an increased risk of schizophrenia development. Moreover, several plausible pathways have been proposed through which Toxoplasmosis may exert its influence on the central nervous system, including alterations in neurotransmitter levels, immune response dysregulation, and neuroinflammation. Understanding the intricate relationship between latent toxoplasmosis and schizophrenia could pave the way for novel therapeutic interventions and preventive strategies for individuals at risk. This review aims to consolidate current knowledge regarding the relationship between latent toxoplasmosis and schizophrenia. It synthesizes findings from epidemiological studies, clinical observations, and experimental research investigating the prevalence of toxoplasmosis in individuals with schizophrenia compared to the general population. Additionally, it examines the potential mechanisms through which T. gondii infection might contribute to the pathogenesis of schizophrenia, including neuroimmune responses, neurotransmitter alterations, and neurodevelopmental effects
Exploring the Primary Stroke Preventive Strategies in Sub-Saharan Africa. A Systematic Review of Literature
Introduction: Stroke is a major cause of death in sub-Saharan Africa, and approximately 80% of all deaths by stroke occur in the region. Evidence indicates that a greater number of years of potential life lost is due to Stroke, also the huge social and economic problem of stroke is large and demands efficient strategies for prevention.Aim: This descriptive systematic literature review explores the primary prevention strategy of stroke in Sub-Saharan Africa. This report draws on a comprehensive review of the literature.Methodology. The primary preventive strategies for stroke were systematically searched in Pub Med and Cinahl, Google, Google Scholar, Science Direct, Scopus, etc. Results: This review summarizes all aspects of the primary preventive strategies under the headings; the awareness of stroke, screening, identifiable risk factors, primary preventive strategies of stroke, and lastly the challenges of primary preventive strategies of stroke in sub-Saharan Africa. Conclusion; Primary preventive strategies in Sub-Saharan Africa (PPSS) include high-risk strategy and mass strategies. This included identifying risk factors for cerebrovascular diseases and controlling them. It also involved mass awareness of primary prevention strategies of stroke (PPSS) with the mass population campaign and digitalized strategies of prevention
Extra-Peritoneal Caesarean Section or Back to the Future? What are the Limits to its Spread?
Extra-peritoneal caesarean section is not a new technique, but was described more than two centuries ago. So why has it not been adopted and what are the limits to its dissemination despite its reported advantages, we are going to describe the so-called French extra-peritoneal caesarean section technique and see what its advantages and disadvantages are

Quality of Life Assessment in Internal Medicine Patients
The relationship between quality of life and chronic illness is clearly established, the evaluation of the latter is necessary for overall care of these patients, the SF36 is a good tool dedicated to this purpose. Our study, although limited by its single-center nature, sheds light on the impact of pathologies encountered in internal medicine hospitalization on quality of life. Our series includes 41 patients with a slight female predominance: 22 women and 19 men. The average age is 48 years old. Thus, it appears that, just like cancer, diabetes and connective tissue disease significantly reduce the quality of life of patients
Symptomatic Schwannoma of the Abdominal Wall: A Case Report
Schwannomas are rare benign tumors originating from Schwann cells of the nerve sheath, typically found in peripheral nerves. While they commonly affect extremities, occurrences in parenchymatous organs like the liver are exceedingly rare. Here, we present the case of a 62-year-old man with a symptomatic abdominal wall schwannoma, a unique finding in the medical literature. The patient underwent surgery for a liver hydatid cyst a year prior and subsequently experienced right hypochondrial pains localized at the laparotomy scar. The nodular mass was discovered intraoperatively, prompting surgical excision with enucleation and Lagrot intervention, which resulted in an uneventful postoperative recovery. Histological examination confirmed the diagnosis of a benign schwannoma. This case highlights the importance of considering schwannomas as a rare cause of abdominal pain and emphasizes the favorable prognosis associated with surgical management
