    QUANTITATIVE DETERMINATION OF CLOPIDOGREL BISULFATE USING VALIDATED SPECTROPHOTOMETRIC METHODS

    A selective, simple and sensitive spectrophotometric methods were introduced for the quantification of Clopidogrel bisulfate (CLPB); an antiplatelet agent widely utilized in the prevention of ischemic stroke, in its raw material and pharmaceutical formulations. These methods based on the formation of yellow colored ion-pairs between CLPB and sulphonphthalein acid dyes, bromophenol blue (BPB) and bromocresol purple (BCP), after extraction in chloroform, with absorption maximum at 407 nm. Job’s plot indicated a ratio of 1:1 and 1:2. The conditional stability constants ( ) of the formed ion-pairs had been calculated. The optimum conditions such as reagent concentration, time, and type of solvent were studied. Reaction conditions were optimized to obtain the maximum color intensity. Beer’s law was obeyed in the concentration range up to 80.0 and 115.0 μg mL-1 upon using BPB and BCP, respectively. The limits of detection (LOD) and quantification (LOQ) were also reported. The low relative standard deviation (RSD %) values indicate good precision and high recovery. The determination of CLPB in tablets dosage forms was also proposed with acceptable recovery values. The results of the proposed methods were compared statistically (F and t-test) with those of the reference method

    The present communication deals with the biochemical studies of cestode parasite and their host tissue i.e. uninfected (normal) and infected intestinal tissue of freshwater catfish Clarias batrachus. From the results and values it can be concluded that the endoparasites could be able to maintain the good balance in the glycogen, protein and lipid content with their hosts. The protein, glycogen and lipid content in Lytocestus vyasaeiare higher than the infected and uninfected intestinal tissue

    THE CURRENT PRACTICE AND CHALLENGES OF INSTRUCTIONAL SUPERVISION IN THE PRIMARY SCHOOLS

    The study aims to investigate the current practices and challenges of instructional supervision of some selected primary schools in Chencha Woreda, Gamo Gofa Zone Ethiopia. Attempts have been made to explore the extent to which cluster supervisors implement instructional supervision with regard to various instructional supervisory tasks, assessing the major challenges, views and attitudes of teachers and supervisors towards the current practice of the service with a Sequential explanatory mixed research design. Data were collected through questionnaires, document observation, interview and focus group discussion. The data gathered through questionnaire were analyzed quantitatively using SPSS. The data gathered through other instruments were analyzed qualitatively. The findings of the study indicated that majority of cluster supervisors were not trained and unskilled to carryout instructional supervision. Similarly, school-site supervisors were also found to be deficient in providing the expected support of the schools for the contributions to the improvement of the teaching-learning process. The current practices of instructional supervision in the study area was full of challenges and proper attention was not given by the teachers, school-site supervisors, and cluster in the Scholl system. Based on the findings and the conclusions drawn, possible recommendations were forwarded: woreda and zonal education offices together with regional education bureau should up-grade supervisors to the required qualifications and should facilitate working conditions and trainings for school-site supervisors. In addition, instructional supervision courses should be given for all trainees in teachers colleges and education faculties both in pre- and in- service training

    A STUDY OF VARIATIONS IN THE E.R.R. AND OTHER REARING PERFORMANCES OF MUTANT STRAINS OF INDIAN TASAR SILKWORM

    This Research Article is an effort to study the relative variations in respect of rearing performances and to study the impacts of zonal differences on the productivity and qualities of tasar cocoons of three mutant strains viz; Daba–blue, Daba–yellow and Daba–almond of tasar silk worm, A. mylitta D. Results obtained are indicative of the fact that the three mutant strains of Tasar Silk Worm differ among themselves in respect of their rearing performances. The performances of Daba–blue in respect of rearing performances have been found evidently better than the Daba–yellow and Daba–almond. Further, zonal differences influence the relative performances of mutant strains of Antheraea mylitta D in respect of productivity and quality of tasar cocoons. The results have clearly shown that the productivity and quality of tasar cocoons of Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh zones are relatively better and superior to Orissa, West Bengal and Bihar Zones of tasar producing states. The performances of Daba–blue in respect of productivity and qualities of tasar cocoons have been found evidently better than the Daba–yellow and Daba–almond. The results obtained appear to be the outcome of genetic variability among the three mutant strains of A. mylitta D. on account of relative differences in their physio–genetic makeup. Results obtained are indicative of the fact all the three mutant strains of A. mylitta D. in spite of relative differences have registered their supremacy over the control (Daba–green) on account of desired beneficial mutation in relation to their breeding activities. Thus the evolution of three distinct mutant strains of tropical tasar silkworm is in the larger interest of tasar culture. &nbsp

    ASSESSING THE IMPLEMENTATION OF INCLUSIVE EDUCATION; THE CASE OF ARBAMINCH COLLEGE OF TEACHERS EDUCATION

    The purpose of this research was assessing the implementation of inclusive education in Arbaminch college of teachers education with emphasis to the analysis of practice of inclusive education , challenges in implementing inclusive education and strong sides in the implementation of inclusive education, to this end, a descriptive survey design method was employed. Both primary and secondary sources of data were used. The primary source were principals, instructors and students of Arbaminch college of teachers education where as the secondary sources were different reports from unit and departments. A total of 66 respondents were participated in this study. Data collection tools were questionnaires, interview and focus group discussion. Based on the data analysis the following major findings were obtained. That study revealed that majority instructors did not get training on how to implement inclusive education and the college learning environment is not comfortable especially for students with disability and also there are beginning practice such as establishment of resource center, material support and construction of roads. To implement inclusive education in better way it is important to adapt the learning and material environment, facilitating training programs in teaching strategies and implementation of inclusive education should facilitated by the college community

    PRELIMINARY DATA ON SPECIES DIVERSITY OF AMPHIBIANS AND REPTILES (EXCLUDING SNAKES) FROM PANVEL, NAVI MUMBAI, INDIA

    In this study, the impact of over-exploitation of natural resources on diversity of amphibians and reptiles in adjoining areas of Panvel, Navi Mumbai was assessed. The present work was carried out for one year (from June 2019 to May 2020). The results showed that a total of 26 species of amphibians and reptiles belonging to 16 genera and 12 families were recorded. Varied diversity of amphibians with 8 species representing 6 genera and 4 families were observed. Species diversity of reptile reveals 18 species representing 10 genera and 8 families. Turtles and tortoises were represented by 7 species belonging to 4 genera and 3 families. Study results indicates that coastal ecosystem of area adjoining Panvel is   dominated by species of Polypedates maculatus, P. occidentalis and Pseudophilautus amboli followed by Duttaphrynus melanostictus, Ghatophryne rubigina, Hoplobatrachus crassus and H. tigerinus. High diversity of tree frogs and bullfrogs is correlated to the few landscapes with thick vegetation, suitable habitat and optimum rainfall in the study area. It can be concluded that over-exploitation of natural resources in Panvel region due to ongoing construction of Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) are the key factors affecting the diversity of amphibians and reptiles. Mortality of amphibians and reptiles is due to lack of awareness regarding ecological role of amphibians and reptiles and fear of snake bite is noted. It is recommended to create awareness among general public about role of amphibians and reptiles and sustainable utilization of natural resources. Since no earlier reports are available, data presented here can be taken as a baseline data

    BIOCHEMICAL STUDIES ON FRESH WATER BIVALVES EXPOSED TO THE MERCURY CHLORIDE

    The effect of heavy metal, mercury chloride on the activity of biochemical components of the freshwater bivalve Lamelledis marginalis was experimentally evaluated. A significant reduction in the activities of glycogen, protein and lipid in the gill, mantle, gonads and heptopancrease of mercury chloride treated animals could be observed. The depletion of glycogen and lipid content was greater in the mantle as compared to the gonads, hepatopancres and gills of the treated bivalves. There was maximun depletion of protein content in gills, followed by mantle, gonads and hepatopancreas observed in mercury chloride treated bivalves. As this mercury chloride binds to the cell membrane and also interfere in metabolic pathway and the bivalves is sensitive to changes in the intra and extra cellular environment. The activities of these biochemical components were found to decrease when compared to that in the control animals up to 96 hours of treatment in all the organs under study

    Industrial agriculture that relies heavily on synthetic inputs has led to the depletion of soil health, pest/ disease virulence and increased crop vulnerability especially under the climate change impact that ultimately threaten the farmers’ livelihood. The Green Farming Initiative through the utilization of Inhana Rational Farming (IRF) Technology was a collaborative undertaking of the Department of Agronomy, Visva-Bharati University (Santiniketan) and Inhana Organic Research Foundation (IORF, Kolkata) to motivate farmer’s interest towards pesticide free crop production and to establish a direct producer- consumer linkage for enabling value added end product at conventional price. Findings from the project indicated that ‘Plant Health Management’ accompanied by ‘Soil Health Management’ using on-farm produced Novcom compost can enable higher crop production. Also pesticide residue testing and 3rd party certification can help in value added marketing and establishing consumer connects, that can facilitate better farmers’ livelihood

    EFFECT OF HABITAT QUALITY, MICROCLIMATIC CONDITIONS AND WASTE WATER CONTAMINATION ON DIVERSITY & DISTRIBUTION OF COLLEMBOLA COMMUNITY

    Soil biodiversity is undergoing dramatic changes due to human and climatic interference, habitat loss and fragmentation due to land use changes, increasing pollution and degradation in terrestrial ecosystems. The overall effect of habitat loss is on the loss of soil micro arthropods diversity which is observed due to negative response of substrate quality. Adverse microclimatic conditions may also be detrimental to species specific communities along with waste water contamination. Thus, an investigation has been carried out to ascertain the effect of habitat quality, microclimatic conditions and waste water contamination on diversity and distribution of Collembola community. For this, 4 samples have been taken monthly for a period of one year from two different study sites of Aligarh along with edapho-chemical properties. We observed the density of Collembola (18.8 ind./sample) was always approximately three times more in agriculture site than in wasteland (7.6 ind./sample) site. Population of Collembola was statistically positive significant with reference to soil organic matter % (r = 0.621, P>0.05), Soil Organic Carbon % (r = 0.622, P>0.05), available nitrogen (r = 0.622, P>0.05) and Potash (r = 0.562, P>0.05) in Agriculture site whereas these all were statistically insignificant in Wasteland site
