    Get PDF
The performance of six plant species subjected to various concentration of spent engine oil was the principal aim of this study. The experiment was arranged in a completely randomized design with three replicates each. Germination percentage, germination vigour, germination index, radicle and plumule lengths were assessed. The plant species showed differential response to concentration of spent engine oil which was dose-dependent. Significant correlation was observed among final germination percentage, shoot and root length and shoot and root weights respectively. The correlation between FGP and GI; FGP and SVI were significantly negative (r = -0.134; -0.371 (P < 0.001) indicating that the germination index and seedling vigor index were delayed with decrease in germination percentage. Indiscriminate disposal of spent engine oil should be checked because of its adverse effects on the germination and early seedling establishment in the tropics

Lead is one of the environmental contaminant, which can threaten living organism in many ways. Mice treated with lead acetate found to exhibit significant production in hemoglobin content between normal and experimentally treated mice. The hematological values indicated a significant production in total white blood cells (WBC), red blood cells (RBC) count between normal and experimental. The level of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) in lead induced mice was found to be low with18.0 mgs/dl where as the control mice revealed an elevated high-density lipoprotein (HDL) level of 32.0 mgs/dl. Similarly the level of low-density lipoprotein (LDL), cholesterol was found be elevated than the control. Another biochemical parameter is the estimation of serum cholesterol which was found to be 90.0 mgs/dl with lead acetate induced mice and a remarkable decrease in serum cholesterol was established which exhibited 65.0mgs/dl. The results for serum triglycerides with lead induced mice showed 49.5 mgs/dl than compared to normal mice. Analysis of serum biomarkers such as lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) revealed an increased lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) level than the normal control mice. To study the kidney dysfunction the level of serum creatinine revealed an elevated level of 0.90 mgs/dl which is the remarkable effect leading to renal failure. The level of total bilirubin was found be eye in lead induced mice than the control treated mice. Studies pertaining to body weight absorbed during the periods of 15 days it was found be reduced in lead induced toxicity mice. To study of diabetic condition induced with streptozotocin (STZ) over a period of 15 days which exhibited significance rise in blood glucose concentration than the normal control mice. The study further extended the supplementation of olive oil in order to toxicity of lead acetate by olive oil revealed serum biomarker such as level of serum glutamate-pyruvate transminase (SGPT) in control showed 46.0 U/ML. Whereas in olive oil treated mice along with STZ induced mice revealed a moderate enzyme activity. Antipyretic study of olive oil by assessing the rectal temperature showed 40°C for control where as olive oil administered mice showed a rectal temperature of 40.5°C

NANO BUBBLES: CONCEPT & RECENT ADVANCES AS THERAPEUTIC AGENT

    Get PDF
Micro/nanobubbles (MNBs) refer to structures that have a core separated from the periphery and is composed of gas. They are sized at the micro  or nano level . The shell of an MNB distinguishes the external environment and the core that includes gases or drugs therein . These bubbles not only serve as transporters that deliver gases or drugs into the body  but also act as contrast agents by contrasting vibration patterns of surrounding tissues with blood vessels by ultrasound. nanobubbles are less affected by changes in volume concentration than microbubbles . Cavitation, which is one of the characteristics of bubbles in an ultrasonic field, allows them to be used as an ultrasonic contrast medium. The Present Review Focus The various advantages of Nano Bubbles when utilised and Designed for Therapeutic Purposes

COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF THE INVERSE WEIBULL DISTRIBUTION BY USING TYPE-II CENSORED SAMPLE

    Get PDF
Parameter estimation become complicated when censoring is present in the sample. Some time it is not possible to give a mathematical expression about estimated values of parameters in Maximum Likelihood (ML) method. In this situation iteration method is used, to find estimated values of parameters in numeric form . There are several Modified Maximum Likelihood (MML) estimation procedures which provide a mathematical expression about parametric value. For the two-parameter inverse Weibull distribution by using type II censored sample, assuming fixed shape parameter, a modified maximum likelihood estimator is proposed by [1] in which they use a simple approximation for intractable terms to estimate the scale parameter. In this paper a comparative study of the proposed estimator [1] is made with MML estimator of [2] ML estimators of [3]
