    ZOOPLANKTON DIVERSITY OF CAUVERY RIVER IN ERODE DISTRICT, TAMILNADU

    The river Cauvery is the main water source for many places in Tamilnadu. It is highly polluted in Erode District due to improper management of textile effluents. This study was carried out to analyse the quality of the Cauvery River in Erode. Planktons are the basic food source of an aquatic ecosystem. Zooplankton diversity is one of the most important ecological indicators for the assessment of water quality. This study was designed to analyse the diversity of Zooplankton of the Cauvery River in Erode, relation to from the period of July to Nov 2018, and the results were recorded periodically. The results revealed that the diversity of Zooplanktons are great good indicators for the river ecosystem and influenced by the quality of river water. The Rotifers are the commonly observed and most dominant zooplankton species present in the Cauvery River. The variation in biodiversity of the water body can be related to water quality. Zooplanktons are also very useful as biological indicators of water quality. &nbsp

    THE EPIDEMIOLOGY OF SCRUB TYPHUS ALL OVER THE WORLD: A SYSTEMATIC LITERATURE REVIEW

    Scrub typhus, a bacterial infection caused by Orientia tsutsugamushi, is cumulatively recognized as an important cause of pyrexia in Asia, with an estimated one million infections occurring per year. Scrub typhus is a natural focus disease transmitted to humans after being bitten by chigger mites and its host were mainly rodents especially rats. It has a great influence on the combat effectiveness of the armed forces and had caused a large number of non-combat attrition in the past. It is considered an emerging or re‐emerging disease in several countries. There are no authorized vaccines, or vector control efforts in place. As a neglected disease, there is still a large gap in our knowledge of this disease, as evidenced by the sporadic epidemiologic data and other related public health information regarding scrub typhus in its endemic areas.     Plant extracts protect against toxic chemical-induced injury by increasing the body’s levels of antioxidant molecules, such as glutathione, and enhancing the activity of antioxidant enzymes. Acalypha indica distributed in the southern part of India particularly in Tamilnadu has potential medicinal properties and it is used as diuretic, anthelmintic and for respiratory problems such as bronchitis, asthma and pneumonia. Phytochemical secondary metabolites presences and absences in phytochemical screening by GC-MS revealed of 7 major bioactive compounds. Extracts of Acalypha indica may be useful in formulating and synthesizing new antibacterial drugs

    Production of food in a safe and sustainable manner has become crucial to meet the global food security, without harming the environment and ensure ecological preservation especially in the backdrop of the climate change impact. To attend the objective of safe and sustainable crop production, Inhana Organic Research Foundation, (Kolkata) has initiated the ‘Clean Food Movement’ in collaboration with Nadia Krishi Vigyan Kendra, ICAR, BCKV. Inhana Rational Farming (IRF) Technology- a comprehensive organic package of practice has been introduced as the major interventional agri-technology along with other techniques/ good agricultural practices, for the purpose of ‘Clean Food’ development. Clean food is a food segment that is produced without the use of carcinogenic pesticides (especially Class-I & Class –II), antibiotics, steroid, growth promoters, etc. The safety of the clean food will be ensured by the Clean Food Standard (CFS) Certification through qualitative colorimetric assay test for pesticide residues. Clean food movement will probably be the first ever initiative towards Healthy Life & Farmers’ Empowerment that will bring forth pesticide- free clean food at an affordable price structure

    GEOELECTRIC DELINEATION OF SUBSURFACE LEACHATE CONTAMINANT CONTROLLED CONDUCTIVE GROUNDWATER IN LAGOS STATE

    The volume of Leachate produced is a function of the amount of water percolating through the refuse dumpsite in Igando area of Lagos state and this had threatened the groundwater obtained at different location in the area. Ineffective waste disposal system has resulted in health hazards such as periodic epidemic and communicable diseases due to the percolation of contaminant leachate, produced from the landfill, into the groundwater aquifer. 2D electrical resistivity imaging and vertical electrical sounding (VES) can be helpful in mapping areas of contaminated soil and groundwater quality. The results of the sounding interpretation and the 2D resistivity structures revealed three subsurface layers: the topsoil, sand clay (brackish water), sandstone (good quality fresh water). The results also showed the shallow occurrence as well as the thin porous overburden units overlying the layers, the sandstone zones and the resistivity structures constitute the major aquifer units of the study area. It was also observed that the mapped area that contained sand layers was found to be water bearing formation which has been polluted thereby making the groundwater around the landfill to be conductive. The results further revealed that Leachate from the landfill has a minimal impact on groundwater and this can be attributed to the existing sub-soil at the dumpsite consisting of clay which is deduced to have a significant influence on the natural water percolation of Leachate into the groundwater

    AN APPLICATION OF DISTRIBUTION REQUIREMENTS PLANNING IN INVENTORY MANAGEMENT: A CASE STUDY

    The objective of this paper is to exhibit the application of distribution requirements planning (DRP) as an aid in managing inventory management. The DRP is considered to suppress its origin (i.e., materials requirements planning), since it has numerous benefits, such as it could minimize shortages, it could reduce associated costs, and it could help to improve customer service. A case study was conducted in a state-owned company in Indonesia that is responsible for handling mining and trade of oil and gas. The company often did miscalculations in the delivery process; thus, the distribution (in terms of time and quantity) is not appropriate to the company’s plan. In order to help the company, the DRP was employed for one particular product of the company. Since the DRP requires accurate forecast data, the autoregressive integrated moving average (ARIMA) model was utilized. The ARIMA model is considered an accurate forecasting technique as it could suit numerous models of time series data. The DRP table shows that the inventory status (both for the company and the retailer) is safe, indicating that the DRP could help the company to overcome the problems

    HAS COVID-19 CLIPPED THE WINGS OF THE HIGH FLYING MICRO, SMALL, AND MEDIUM- SIZED ENTERPRISES (MSMEs) SECTOR? AN OPINION SURVEY

    Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak has halted the shivering progress of the Indian economy. In recent times the Micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) sector is on the verge of becoming lame due to the COVID-19 outbreak. MSMEs primarily drive the socio-economic growth in our country. Still, because they typically have inadequate financial and management resources compared to big enterprises and are not prepared to deal with problems that are likely to be more severe than anticipated, they are worst hit by the COVID-19 outbreak. So, this paper aims to obtain the perception of selected MSMEs respondents to examine the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic crisis on MSMEs and provide policy recommendations to the concerned policymakers to help MSMEs manage the situation. A strategically constructed questionnaire was designed in the form of an online survey to obtain respondents' opinions. The descriptive statistical analysis and "Chi-square non-parametric test" were carried out to analyze the gathered data. The study found that most of the MSMEs were either fully or partially in operation during the COVID-19 lockdown due to the enterprises belonging to essential services, employees working from home, etc. The increased difficulty in financing and reduction of orders were the most relevant issues faced by MSMEs. The study also found out that due to Covid-19 lockdown, MSMEs not belonging to essential services had to lay off their employees to the extent that led to unemployment. Finally, to alleviate the negative impact of the COVID-19 outbreak on MSMEs, the study mentions that the most relevant relief measure announced by the government was "government to clean all receivables due to MSMEs in next 45 days"

    A STUDY ON MORTALITY RATE FOR INFANT IN PAKISTAN: AN APPLICATION OF BIOSTATISTICS

    The annual mortality rate (per 1,000 live births) from 1960 to 2017 of Pakistan is the subject of this paper. As a reason, in South Asia, Pakistan contributed the most to childhood mortality, including infant mortality. Despite progress, child mortality has declined globally, but Pakistan is still struggling and far behind the targets of the Sustainable Development Goals. There are several reasons for high childhood mortality, including socioeconomic determinants and lack of effective implementation of health-related policies, particularly in primary health care settings. In the present study, we use stochastic univariate models to uncover the trend of infant mortality by using more than half a century of data from 1960–2017. The secondary data related to the mortality rate (per 1,000 live births) from 1960 to 2017 was extracted from the World Bank Dataset. Descriptive and time series analysis (Box-Jenkins) are applied. The analysis is carried out using the R programming language

    TEMPERATURE CHANGE ON THE GROWTH OF BACILLUS ISOLATED FROM BEACH SEDIMENTS

    The study was conducted to determine the temperature change on the growth of marine bacterial isolates of the genus Bacillus isolated from the coastal sediments of Lattakia city. Marine sediment samples were collected from the Apamea region during the period (2019-2020) the identity of these bacterial isolates was determined through laboratory and microbiological analyses. A number of experiments were conducted to find out the effect of temperature changes on the growth of these bacterial isolates. The results showed that the best growth of bacterial isolates was at an incubation temperature of 30°C
