AN EVALUATION OF EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE AND LOCUS OF CONTROL AS CORRELATES OF DEPRESSION AMONG VISUALLY IMPAIRED UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS
This study examined Emotional Intelligence and Locus of Control as correlates of Depression among Visually Impaired Students. Fifty (50) participants were used for the study. They consisted of 20 females and 30 males selected through purposive sampling. Their age ranged from 17 to 29 with mean age of 2.42 and standard deviation of 0.859. Three instruments were administered to the participants namely: Wong and Law Emotional Intelligence Scale [1], Locus of Control Scale [2] and Depression Scale adopted from Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale-21 [3]. The design employed for the study is a correlational design and correlational analysis was used to test two hypotheses at <.01 and <.05 levels of significance. The results obtained from this study showed that Emotional Intelligence did not significantly correlate with Depression. However, one of its dimensions, Self Emotions Appraisal significantly correlated positively with Depression. The results again showed that Locus of Control significantly correlated negatively with Depression. Based on the findings of this study, the researcher therefore recommended that visually impaired students should be encouraged to take responsibility for the outcomes of events in their life as this will spur them into becoming better at what they might not be good at and enlightened on how to intelligently handles their emotions, as this may go a long way in helping them establish and maintain healthy personal and interpersonal relationships
LEISHMANIASIS AND ITS CONTROLS APPROACHES IN ETHIOPIA: MINI REVIEW
Introduction: Leishmaniasis is an infectious and disfiguring vector-borne disease caused by protozoan of the genus Leishmania under family Trypanosomatidae but with different subgenus transmitted by infected phlebotomine sand flies. In general, the disease divided into cutaneous leishmaniasis, which attacks the skin and mucous membranes and causes disfigurements, and visceral leishmaniasis (calazar), which attacks internal organs. The narrative review which covers all information about leishmaniasis disease prevention and control is needed to bridge the gap between different interventions being applied. In Ethiopia there are no single approaches to prevent and control Leishmaniasis which is being challenged for disease elimination with single and integrated methods.
Objective: The main objective of this review is to dig out and suggest the best leishmaniasis control approaches for planning future control strategies in Ethiopia.
Methods: Articles (research and review) published on peer-review journals through Google scholar about leishmaniasis distribution and transmission, challenges and control efforts, and future needs were reviewed. Most specifically as one health concept, all related disciplines in Ethiopia and their role in controlling the disease are reviewed and discussed to direct future strategic plans in controlling the leishmaniasis disease.
Conclusion: A single intervention could not achieve the goal of control. One health approach is a holistic view of distinct best control approach with many disciplines of human medicine, veterinary medicine, environmental science, and agriculture and wildlife conservation through the linkage of their responsibilities. One health approach is a new paradigm that began to dominate ideas, clinical practice and epidemiological research on human disease. Entomologist engagement in this approach increases the quality of control through identifying the vector and vector human interaction with possible breeding sites. This will help to develop systemic institutionalized medical education and health care systems to increase the distance between human, vectors and animal reservoir hosts
ASSESSMENT OF ZOOPLANKTON DIVERSITY AT PERIYA SADAYAMPALAYAM POND, IN ERODE DISTRICT, TAMILNADU, INDIA
Planktons are the basic food source of aquatic ecosystem. The zooplanktons diversity is one of the most important ecological indicators for the assessment of water quality. This study was designed to identify zooplankton diversity of Periyasadayam pond in Erode District, in relation to the diversity of zooplanktons from the period of May to November 2019 and the results were recorded periodically. The populations of zooplanktons were positively correlated. The results revealed that the diversity of Total of 37 species of zooplanktons were identified. Among zooplankton belongs to 5% of Protozoa, 35%, Rotifera 22%, Cladocera 24%, of Copepoda and 14% Ostracoda were recorded. Rotifera was found to be the most dominant group and Protozoa was the least dominant group. The zooplanktons are also very useful as biological indicators of water quality
EVALUATING THE ANTIBACTERIAL ACTIVITY OF MORINDA MORINDOIDES EXTRACTS ON THE IN VITRO GROWTH OF THE CLINICAL STRAINS OF Shigella sp.
For a couple of years, strains of Shigella resistant to aminopenicillins and cotrimoxazole have developed and have become predominant.
The purpose of paper is to show the social contribution in the care of gastroenteritis. As such, the antibacterial activity of the total aqueous and 70% ethanolic extracts of the leaves of Morinda morindoides, a plant from the Ivorian pharmacopoeia was evaluated.
In this paper, bacteriological tests were carried out on two pathogenic strains of Shigella sp. (EEQ and 1055).
The methods of diffusion, either in agar medium or in liquid, were used for the search for Minimal Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) and Minimal Bactericidal Concentration (MBC).
The results show that both extracts tested have in vitro antibacterial bactericidal efficiency on both Shigella sp. strains. However, the 70% ethanolic extract which is twice as effective as the total aqueous extract is more active against strains of Shigella Sp tested, with a MBC of 25 mg/mL.
The finding suggest that antibacterial properties of this plant could also useful for caring shigellosis
OPTIMIZING NEAR INFRARED REFLECTANCE SPECTROSCOPY TO PREDICT NUTRITIONAL QUALITY IN CHICKPEA HAULMS FOR LIVESTOCK FEED
The near infrared reflectance spectroscopy (NIRS) was used to develop calibration equations to predict chickpea haulm (Cicer arietinum) feed quality traits and mineral constituents. A total of 1348 cultivars of chickpea representing a nation-wide range of environments in Ethiopia and genotypic diversity (113 cultivars and 7 landraces) used in the framework of the Ethiopian National Chickpea Breeding and Genetics Program were scanned using a FOSS 5000 spectrophotometer. 130 samples representing the spectral characteristics of the chickpea haulms, selected using WinISI II software V.1.50, were chemically analyzed for the development of the calibration equations. A modified partial least-squares (MPLS) regression with cross validation was used to confirm the equations and identify possible spectral outliers (GH-value>3, where GH is the Mahalanobis distance). Values for coefficient of determination (R), standard error of prediction SEP(C) and ratio of performance deviation (RPD) were used for validation of the equations. Results showed ash (r =0.97; RPD=3.64), crude protein (r2= 0.99; RPD = 8.09), acid detergent fiber (r2 = 0.99; RPD = 6.43), neutral detergent fiber (r2=0.99; RPD = 6.65), lignin (r2 = 0.99; RPD =5), ME (r=0.99; RPD=24.3), IVOMD (r=0.99; RPD=26). These results show that the calibration equations can accurately predict nutritional quality traits of chickpea haulms. The use of the NIRS method can facilitate cost-effective and rapid decision making by researchers and farmers
THE ROLE OF THE GOVERNMENT IN STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT AND ORIENTATION OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP TO SMALL MEDIUM ENTERPRISE BUSINESS PERFORMANCE
Empowerment of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises is very strategic because of its great potential in driving the community's economic activities, and at the same time becomes the source of income for most of the community in improving their welfare. The role of government is necessary to be able to improve the performance of these SMEs. This study aims to determine and analyze the effect of strategic management and entrepreneurial orientation on the performance of small and medium businesses, both directly and through the role of government. The population in this research are small and medium entrepreneurs in the city of Pekanbaru. The sampling technique used was accidental sampling with a total of 60 respondents. To process data that has been obtained from questionnaires and test hypotheses using Partial Least Square (PLS) analysis techniques. The results of this study indicate that strategic management strengthened by the government will have a positive and significant impact on the performance of SMEs. Meanwhile, entrepreneurial orientation, strengthened by the role of government, also has a positive and significant effect in improving the performance of SMEs. Likewise, the direct influence of strategic management and entrepreneurial orientation on the performance of SMEs. Their influence has a positive and significant effect

AN EMPIRICAL STUDY OF INTEGRATED GM (1,1) AND DEA TO PREDICT AND EVALUATE THE BUSINESS PERFORMANCE: A CASE STUDY IN OIL AND GAS INDUSTRY
The oil and gas industry is one of the core sectors of the national economy, playing a fundamental role in ensuring energy security. The Covid-19 situation, which has driven companies to innovate, may serve as a catalyst for rethinking the size and role of functional teams, field workers, and management processes required to run an efficient oil and gas company. The slump in global oil consumption due to the pandemic has caused a shock to the Russian economy. To gain comprehensive insights on the performance of the oil and gas industry in Russia, this study aims to develop an integrated methodology that combines the Grey prediction method, a so-called GM (1,1) and Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) Malmquist model for the prediction and evaluation of the top 10 potential companies in Russia. Grey theory is adopted to predict the companies’ data during 2020–2023, and the Malmquist method is used to evaluate their performance over the whole period of 2016–2023, based on three input factors (total assets, total liabilities, cost of revenue), and two output factors (total revenue and net income). During the research period, “Russneft” was found to have performed the most efficiently while “Slavneft” held the least-effective company, despite its efforts to achieve progressive technological changes. Overall, all companies have achieved excellent technological efficiency. Thus, the average total factor productivity indexes of all companies mainly rely on their technical performance. This study assists policymakers and decision-makers in expediting their recovery plans for further sustainable development in the oil and gas industry
TRANSFORMATIONAL EDUCATION - A POST COVID SCENARIO
Education has the higher goal of bringing up humanity and with love for fellow beings, hence it is essential and core for every society, as it ensures knowledge and awareness for mastering evolving skills. In the Post COVID scenario the Education has become important because it makes us realize to be more humane and empathizes life and love as common ingredients to live. The fag end of Pre COVID witnessed too many conflicts among nations along with the ever-rising global climatic issues affecting our life’s in general. At certain stages the very essence of education was undermined even with the exponential growth of highly responsive emerging technologies which was binding the world seamlessly on a common connection. Education streamlines the thinking process and prepares for a common good for transitory migration across borders through employability, and building a cultured person to serve the purpose of bringing in oneness. Pre COVID proved that the existence of education is the only knowledge and not of value facts which was driving the development engine of any nation. Education, makes a society strong enough to stand for long. The educational process is a service for society and to learn – unlearn - relearn from our mistakes and transmit our knowledge to the next generation, is a progressive contribution. Eventually formal and informal education together consolidate our present and future states. With limited resources, creative learning with digital technology can circumvent bottlenecks for the peaceful existence of humans. Radically the changes have happened as never before building self-confidence and equalizing globally in the last two years, with anywhere-anytime learning process, devoid of a physical face to face and touch-feel-collective environment. We find the emerging approach to technology enabled education and customization would keep up the humanity and culture building for a safe living connected world
