    ANTIMICROBIAL AND ENZYMATIC ACTIVITY OF SOIL BACTERIA ISOLATED FROM THE NILGIRIS AND ERODE DISTRICTS, TAMIL NADU, INDIA AND ITS PLANT GROWTH PROMOTING PROPERTIES

    Soil has generally been utilized to track down new anti-infection makers, at present a significant number of the 'old' anti-toxins are currently being controlled in the lab and synthetic changed to frame new variants of more established anti-microbials.In this study, soil samples were collected from a variety of locations, including agricultural and forest areas, and they were analyzed for antibiotic production. After the primary screening, the bacterial isolates were characterized, their antimicrobial activity against E. coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella pneumonia, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa was checked, and their biochemical tests were done, and Bacillus sp. was found to be the bacterial isolate. Proteins known as soil enzymes are responsible for catalyzing specific substrate-dependent biochemical reactions in the soil that are essential for microbial life. The activity of amylolysis and proteolysis was examined. Different plants with particular growth patterns were found to have an activity that promoted plant growth. According to the findings of this study, the pharmaceutical industry may be able to harness antibiotic-producing bacteria strains for therapeutic purposes. This work may be used to further control microbial strains and provide potential information on the production of antibiotics. In addition, the ingredient that encourages plant growth can be identified and utilized extensively in agricultural industries

    We confirm the Red Sea (Lessepsian migrant) species the Areolate grouper Epinephelus areolatus (Forsskål, 1775), occurrences in the Syrian coast, which constitutes the Fifth record in the entire Mediterranean, 220 mm total length and 144.5 g total weight, was caught by the trap-net on 4 October 2022 at a depth of 50 m over sandy – rocky bottom, off Ras Ibn Hani, Lattakia city. The identification of the present specimen of E. areolatus was based on morphological features, colour, and morphometric measurements and meristic counts

    DETERMINAYION OF SOME HEAVY METAL ELEMENTS IN DUSKY SPINEFOOT, Siganus luridus, FROM THE SYRIAN COAST (EASTERN MEDITERRANEAN) AND ITS RELATIVE RISK FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION

    Heavy metal pollution is a serious problem for the environment due to its toxicity, persistency, bioaccumulation. In this study, the concentration of four heavy metals (Zn, Cu, Pb, Cd) in muscle of Siganus luridus from the Syrian marine waters (Eastern Mediterranean) were assessed, to evaluate the potential role of domestic and industrial effluents released without treatment on the quality of the marine environment with consequences to fish resources. Samples were collected from six different areas during two consecutive years, from March 2019 to February 2021. Determination of these metals was carried out using atomic absorption spectroscopy, according to the techniques of electrothermal and flame ablation. Health risk was assessed using estimated daily intake and target hazard quotient. Heavy metal levels were higher in the site relatively close to industrial pollution sources, tourism and agricultural activities. The results showed high concentrations of zinc in the muscle compared to the other metals studied, it ranged between (3.5-6.1 μg/g wet weight), followed by copper with average ranging between (0.4-0.5μg/g wet weight), then lead with concentration (0.016-0.025 μg/g wet weight), while cadmium was the least concentrated (0.005-0.008 μg/g wet weight). All of these concentrations were within the limits allowed by the World Food and Agriculture Organization. The averages of EDI and THQ values for children were higher than adults. However, both of them were below the harmful and hazardous levels, indicating that consumption of S. luridus in the Syrian coast will not lead to health risks from the four heavy metals studied

    ACADEMIC MOTIVATION AND SELF-EFFICACY AS DETERMINANTS OF ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE OF SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS IN ANAMBRA STATE, NIGERIA

    Academic performance is the quest of every student. This study explored academic motivation and academic self-efficacy as determinants of academic performance of secondary school students in Anambra State. The study adopted a correlation research design and was guided by three research questions and three null hypotheses tested at the 0.05 level of significance. The population of the study comprised 19,742 senior secondary class two (SS2) students from which a sample size of 1,250 was drawn through a convenient sampling technique. Three instruments were used for the study titled: Academic Motivation Questionnaire (AMQ), Academic Self-Efficacy Questionnaire (ASEQ) and Academic Performance Questionnaire (APQ) and validated by three experts in the field of Educational Psychology. The Cronbach Alpha method was adopted in determining the reliability of the instruments and they yielded alpha coefficients of 0.77, 0.74 and 0.67 for AMQ, ASEQ and APQ respectively. Data collected were analyzed using simple correlation for answering research questions and simple regression analyses for testing the null hypotheses. Findings indicated that both academic motivation and academic self-efficacy have a low and positive relationship with academic performance. It further showed that academic motivation and academic self-efficacy jointly contributed positively to the academic performance of secondary school students in Anambra State, Nigeria. Based on the findings of the study, it was recommended among others that teachers and parents should continue to inspire, encourage and motivate the students for better academic performance

    FINANCING PATTERN AND DETERMINANTS OF FINANCING PATTERN OF PHARMACEUTICAL INDUSTRY: AN EMPIRICAL ANALYSIS IN INDIA

    The paper ascertains the financing patterns and determinants of pharmaceutical industry. We use the financial data of one hundred and forty-one pharmaceutical companies. Financing pattern of sample companies has been studied by using twenty different ratios.  The results of the financing pattern ratios of the pharmaceutical industry show that they have not used more debt for financing fixed assets.  The earning capacity of the companies is good as indicated by the overall positive values of shareholders equity. Further, we use regression model to study the determinants of financing patterns for the industry, we found that, of the sixty-one independent variables analysed, five independent variables viz, current liabilities to net worth, leverage ratio, short term debt to total debt (including current liabilities), logarithm of PBIT by total assets and logarithm of cash profit by sales as independent variables emerge as determinant for two dependent variables viz. long-term debt to equity and total debt-equity ratio. Further, we found that, forty-eight independent variables are not the determinants of financing pattern for the industry. The results of the study may be used researchers to compare with other foreign Pharmaceutical companies. Further studies can be undertaken for companies in pharmaceutical industry

    IMPACT OF TREATED AND UNTREATED WASTE WATERS ON SOIL PHYSICOCHEMICAL AND MICROBIAL PROPERTIES

    The quality of water used for the irrigation of agricultural crops has significant effects on soil properties. This experiment was conducted to examine the impact of treated and untreated waste waters on the physicochemical and microbial properties of soil. Waste waters (fish pond effluent and municipal waste water) including water from borehole, were subjected to physical filtration using sole and combination of filtration materials (granite, charcoal, rice husk, and river sand). The treated and untreated waste waters were deployed to irrigate potted cucumber plants arranged in a completely randomized design (CRD). Soil samples were collected for analysis after the experiment. The results obtained showed that soil organic carbon, available P, Ca and N were highest in soil irrigated with fish pond effluent filtered with rice husk (T5). Organic carbon and CEC were higher for soil irrigated with municipal waste water filtered with charcoal (T9). Similarly, treated waste waters (T5 and T11) improved the soil texture. Furthermore, significant differences (P˂0.05) were observed in soil pH among the treatments. Bacteria, yeast and fungi populations were significantly higher for soil irrigated with untreated fishpond effluent (T1) and untreated municipal waste water (T7). Filtered waste waters (fish pond effluent and municipal waste water) using sole and combination of filtration materials improved soil physical and chemical, and also help in reducing pathogenic organisms that could be harmful to other useful microbes in the soil. Therefore, wastewater treated with sole and combined filtration materials has no detrimental effects on soil physical and chemical properties

    Deep learning techniques which implement deep neural networks became popular due to the increase of high-performance computing facility. Deep learning achieves higher power and flexibility due to its ability to process a large number of features when it deals with unstructured data. Deep learning algorithm passes the data through several layers; each layer is capable of extracting features progressively and passes it to the next layer. Initial layers extract low-level features, and succeeding layers combines features to form a complete representation. Chatbot is referred as learning and assistant tool. It is artificially created with the help of neural network in deep learning model. Chatbot is capable enough to interact with the users in the form of text or speech. This paper focuses on the development of chatbot using the open source framework called rasa. Chatbot is a conversational bot which is going to use of natural language processing and mimic the conversation with customer or the users. Rasa has two important component rasa nlu and rasa nlu core. These two are considered as the building block of rasa chatbot. In this article interactive learning and implementation details are tested in anaconda framework. For the implementation purpose rasa 2.0 is used

    The average incubation period of the eggs recorded 5.55 + 0.19 days (range, 4-8 days, n=249), duration three nymphal instars 5.76 + 0.12 days (range, 4-7 days, n=211), 5.53 + 0.18 days (range, 4-7 days, n=185), 5.27 + 0.14 days (range, 4-7 days, n=128) respectively. The average adult life span of males, and females was recorded as 14.20 + 3.14 days (range, 2-26 days; n=60, and 17.20 + 3.24 days (range, 2-29 days; n=60). The data obtained through in vitro experimentation life table was constructed. The value of the intrinsic rate of natural increase was computed as r=0.029. With this value of “r” the summation of ∑e-rmxlxmx proved to be 1.029. Likewise, at this value of “r” the doubling time of G. dissimilis Denny, 1842 was found to be 23.90 days

    The virus that caused the COVID-19 pandemic, SARS-CoV-2, has had a profound impact on cardiovascular healthcare. Patients having a history of cardiovascular disease are more likely to experience morbidity and mortality. The virus can harm the heart in both direct and indirect ways, causing clinical syndromes such as acute myocardial injury, myocarditis, acute coronary syndromes, heart failure, and arrhythmias, some of which can last for months after the original infection, resulting in long-term problems. Drug-drug and drug-disease interactions have an impact on the therapy of COVID-19-related cardiac problems. Furthermore, several COVID-19 treatment drugs can have negative cardiac consequences. Because the Renin-Angiotensin-Aldosterone System (RAAS) is involved in viral entry, it's important to evaluate the adverse effects of drugs that target this system. For optimal patient care and disease outcome, adequate information on COVID-19's unique cardiovascular manifestations and the guidelines established for their management is essential. The goal of this study is to look at the pathophysiology of SARS-CoV2 infection and related cardiac problems, as well as how to treat them. It also highlights the influence it has on individuals with pre-existing cardiac disorders, as well as long-term problems and heart-related side effects of COVID-19 drugs

    THE MENACE OF UNEMPLOYMENT IN NIGERIA: A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS AMONG STATES

    This study examined comparatively the menace of unemployment among states in Nigeria. The study relied on the secondary data while content analysis was employed in analyzing the gathered data. Marxist Theory of Unemployment was used as a framework of analysis in this study. The study discovered that in Nigeria no one single state is without the problem of unemployment. However, some states have been experiencing high rate of unemployment. Among the drivers of unemployment include poor curriculum in higher institutions, lack of steady electricity, and corruption among others. It is recommended by this study that for unemployment to be arrested there should be serious efforts by the government to revisit the curriculum, steady electricity as well as doing away with all sorts of corruption in the public sector
