Implementation of Science Curriculum in Nigerian Tertiary Education: Problems and Way Forward
No full textThe paper examined the problems facing the implementation of science curriculum in the Nigerian tertiary institutions. Secondary data were used to support the points raised in the article. The secondary data were sourced from printed materials and online publications by recognized institutions and individual authors. The paper concludes that inadequate funds, shortage of science lecturers, lack of infrastructure facilities, corruption, strike actions, brain-drain and ineffective capacity building programme, insecurity challenges and poor supervision are problems facing the implementation of science curriculum in the Nigerian tertiary institutions. Based on this problems identified, the paper recommended adequate funding of tertiary institutions in Nigeria as means of ensuring effective science curriculum implementation in the institutions across the country

No full textThe elemental definition of bias is “an error in decision-making.” Unconscious biases are prejudices humans have but are unaware of. They are mental associations based on social norms and stereotypes. There is a reason it is called unconscious bias. It is because hard-wired biases operate at a level that is beneath conscious awareness. Even if it is believed a person is being fair and objective, stereotypes may still be influencing opinions - without any awareness of it. Subsequently, such oblivious inclinations may create unfair disadvantages within organizations. Thus, the objective of this paper is to review prior studies to analyze the nature of unconscious bias in the workforce and to propose a possible intervention to manage it
