Inflation, Unemployment and Economic Growth in Nigeria
Full text linkThis study investigates the links between inflation and unemployment on economic growth in Nigeria from 1980-2023 using the Ordinary Least Square approach. The study discovered the existence of a positive relationship between interest rate, unemployment rate and economic growth but a negative links exist between inflation rate and economic growth in Nigeria within the period under consideration. The study observed that inflation established its real impact of always being negative in terms of its links with economic growth in the economy of Nigeria. The study concludes that government should provide enabling environment to produce imported goods here in Nigeria to cushion the impact of imported inflation into the Nigerian economy

Poor Ranking of Universities in Nigeria: Causes, Implications and Way Forward
No full textThe paper analyzed the factors responsible for poor ranking of universities in Nigeria. The paper also discussed the implications of the poorly ranked Nigerian universities and suggested measures to address the problems with view of improving the ranking performance in the nearly future. Primary and secondary data were used for the paper. The data were collected from online publications and print materials. The paper concludes that factors responsible for the poor ranking of universities in Nigeria includes; inadequate funding, poor data management, poor website design, inadequate staff, shortage of facilities, unstable academic calendar, political influence, bad leadership, indigenization of principal officers of tertiary institutions, non-defined internationalization Policies, poor reputation, low academic staff-to-student ratio, low doctorates-awarded-to-bachelor-degrees-awarded ratio, low doctorates-awarded-to-academic-staff ratio, low institutional income per staff, research reputation, low research income per staff low research productivity, poor citations (research influence), low proportion of international students, low proportion of international staff, low international collaboration and low industry income (knowledge transfer). Also, the paper identified bad international image, low attraction by International Students and low attraction by international academic staff are the implications of poorly ranked universities. To improve the universities ranking in Nigeria, the paper hereby recommended that the National Universities Commission should formulate national strategic plans and target on national ranking for Nigerian universities and asks universities to develop their strategic plan and set their target on ranking within a time frame; effective web policy and web development, effective data management, adequate funding, employment of adequate academic staff, provision of adequate infrastructure facilities, branding of Nigerian universities, capacity building for universities administrators, expansion of post-graduate schools in the universities to increase enrolment, effective research policy and programme, increment in the number of international student, number of international academic staff, embrace international collaboration of academic staff and internationalization of tertiary education in Nigeria

The Role of Sustainable Accounting in Managing the Financial Position to Support the Sustainable Development of Financial Companies in Iraq
No full textPurpose: This study aimed to find out how Iraqi companies use sustainable management accounting techniques (MATs). The study also looked at MATs' contribution to sustainable development.Theoretical framework: The three aspects of sustainability—integrative, social, and environmental—are the basis for the research, which examines the effects of numerous variables, such as the frequency of technique use.Design/methodology/approach: The purpose and frequency of usage of sustainable MATs in Iraqi businesses over the period of March and April 2021 were examined in this study by using a quantitative methodology. In this research, sampling approach was utilized.Findings: Both inferential and descriptive statistical techniques were utilized to assess the findings of the online survey, which was conducted utilizing surveys from the target population. It is clear from the limited usage of sustainability measures in management accounting that firms in Iraq do not completely integrate sustainability issues into their management accounting systems. The vast majority of businesses use at least one strategy from each of the three categories—inclusive, social, and greenResearch, Practical & Social implications: MAT is used for a variety of purposes including, but not limited to, external reporting, internal compliance monitoring, and to some extent internal decision-making.Originality/value: This study is among the earliest to investigate if it is feasible for Iraq to sustain its external debt financially using an econometric method
