ORTHODONTIC RETREATMENT OF A MISALIGNED UPPER ARCH MIDLINE CAUSED BY INADEQUATE TREATMENT PLAN

Tooth extraction is a common practice in dentistry. Tooth extraction will cause injuries that need healing before they can return to the physiological state of the oral cavity. Snail mucus contains beta agglutinin (antibodies) in plasma (serum), achasin protein, glycoconjugate and sulfate levels which can accelerate wound healing by increasing the mobilization of macrophage cells on day 5 after tooth extraction. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of snail mucus on the number of macrophage cells in wound healing after extraction of guinea pigs. The research method used was pure experimental research using 32 guinea pigs as samples. Guinea pigs were divided into 2 (two) groups: the control group was given 2% CMC-Na gel and the treatment group was given snail mucus after having been extracted. Calculation of the number of macrophages is done on the 5th day. The results showed the mean number of macrophage cells in the control group was 13.06 cells, and the treatment group was 17.44 cells. After being analyzed using the Independent t-test with significance ρ <0.05, it was found that there were significant differences in the number of macrophage cells in the test group and the control group. From this study it can be concluded that snail mucus is effective in increasing the number of macrophage cells in the process of wound healing after tooth extraction. Keywords : snail mucus, macrophage cell, tooth extractio

Introduction: A 19-year-old male patient came to Unud Hospital with a complaint that his upper right front tooth was broken. Case: The patient's right front tooth aches when he consumes cold food or drinks and bleeds every morning. Pain still exists even if food or cold drinks are removed. Complaints felt since 7 months ago. The tooth now feels pain but is not as severe as the initial tooth fracture. Patients have consumed mefenamic acid to reduce the pain. The tooth has never been treated by a dentist. Case management: The patient treated with pulpectomy accompanied by a fused to metal porcelain jacket crown restoration with a cast post core. After controlling for one week after treatment, the desired result is the loss of subjective and objective complaints in the patient. Conclusion: Custom dowel crown restoration post pulpectomy has a high success rate in Ellis Class III fractures of a central incisor with good retention and resistance to both vertical and horizontal pressure
EKSTRAK DAUN PEPAYA (CARICA PAPAYA L) DAPAT MENURUNKAN JUMLAH BAKTERI STAPHYLOCOCCUS AUREUS PADA RESIN AKRILIK HEAT CURED
ABSTRACT
Heat cured acrylic resin is the most commonly used material in making denture bases. Acrylic resin is in contact with saliva, drinks and food so that the denture is a place for the formation of plaque and an increase in microorganisms, namely the fungus Candida albicans and Staphylococcus aureus bacteria, which can cause Denture stomatitis. Papaya leaf extract containing flavonoids, saponins, tannins and alkaloids can act as anti-bacteria. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of papaya leaf extract (Carica papaya L.) on the amount of growth of Staphylococcus aureus on a heat cured acrylic resin denture plate. The study was post test only with control group design. Samples were contaminated with Staphylococcus aureus suspension and incubated, then inserted into a test tube, then immersed for 3 minutes, then inserted into Saboroud's broth and continued with calculation of the number of colonies. Data analyzed with One Way Anova difference test obtained a value of p <0.05, which mean that the number of Staphylococcus aureus colonies between treatment groups and control groups had a significant difference. The LSD test found a significant difference (ρ <0.05) between aquades and papaya leaf extract 2.5%, 5%, 10% and fittydent®. Whereas at 10% concentration when compared with fittydent® there was no significant difference (ρ> 0.05). From the results of the study it can be concluded that immersing heat cured acrylic resin plate in papaya leaf extract can inhibit Staphylococcus aureus growth, according to the increase in concentration where the most effective concentration was 10%

Introduction: Recurrent Aphthous Stomatitis (RAS) is an inflammation of the soft tissues of the mouth characterized by recurren ulcers without symptoms of other diseases. Clinically, RAS is characterized by painful recurrent ulcerations of the oral mucosa that appear recurrently insingle or multiple numbers and have a red halo appearance that usually appears on the lip, cheek, lateral, and ventral mucosa of the tongue in the oral cavity. Triamcinolone acetonide is a prednisolone derivative and is considered an intermediate glucocorticoid. It is effective in reducing the signs and symptoms of many conditions of inflammation of the mouth, including RAS. Binahong contains active compounds of flavonoids, alkaloids, terpenoids, and saponins which have an antibacterial effect in inhibiting the growth of Streptococcus mutans and Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. Binahong leaf extract can be used as an alternative natural treatment for minor RAS. Purpose: This research compared the effectivity of extracts leaves Binahong (Anredera cordifolia (Ten.) Steenis) concentrations of 25%, 50% with Triamcinolone Acetonide in healing Recurrent aphthous stomatitis (RAS) minor. Materials and method: The research was pretest-posttest control group design, 30 samples divided into 3 treatment groups, where the treatment group I used Triamcinolone acetonide, treatment group II used 25% binahong leaf extract, and trea ment group III used 50% Binahong leaf extract. Data were analyzed with a parametric statistical test of paired sample T-test and showed that there was a significant decrease in RAS diameter in groups I, II, and III (p<0.05). Result: The mean difference of RAS diameter between-group in order 2.7mm for the first treatment group, in the second treatment group, was 1.3mm and 2.2mm for the third treatment group. Analysis with Oneway ANOVA showed that after the treatment was given to the three groups, there was a significant average difference of the minor RAS diameter decrease (p <0.05). Conclusion: The results showed that Triamcinolone acetonide was more effective in accelerating the healing of minor RAS than 25% and 50% binahong leaf extract
