    Teeth whitening technique has been known since 1989. The in-officebleaching techniques using hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), H2O2 useful as tooth whitening experience discoloration or stainning on the teeth. However, if the use of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) is not done carefully it can lead to irritation of the soft tissues of the oral cavity. Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) is toxic and side effects are irritation of the gingiva to cause inflammation of gingiva.Gingivitis caused by various factors both exogenous and endogenous factors. Endogenous factors such as tartar, tooth crowding, hormonal, stress and microorganisms, exogenous factors caused by mechanical trauma, thermal, chemical, infection and malnutrition. Gingivitis is a complex response of tissue to injury that involves changes in the cells, humoral, and which is an inflammatory vascular. Neutrophils are the most prominent cells in acute inflammation. Neutrophil granules derived from neutral in sitoplasma. Based these problems, preliminary research proved that induction of H2O2 can cause inflammation of the gingiva. This is evidenced by the preliminary study using 6 male rats (Rattusnorvegicus) Wistar strain, divided into two groups: a control group (normal mice without induction H2O235%) and treatment groups (rats with induced H2O2 35%). The researchwas carried out as randomized Post test only control group design. The results showed the average number of neutrophils in the control group (11 cells per five field of view), while the treatment group (119 cells per five field of view). This shows that the treatment group contained significantly increase neutrophil cells

    Peranan Madu 15% Terhadap Peningkatan pH Saliva Wanita Menopause

    Fructose, which is the highest concentration of substance in honey, can stimulate saliva more than sucrose, so it is considered to affect the acidity (pH) of saliva, especially postmenopausal women who generally experience a decrease in salivary pH. This study aims to determine the ratio of salivary pH of menopausal women who rinse with drinking water and rinse with 15% concentrated honey. A sample of 32 postmenopausal women between the ages of 50-60 years were divided into 2 groups, namely the control group and the treatment group. Before being treated, the initial salivary pH of the two groups was recorded. Then the control group was instructed to rinse with drinking water and the treatment group was instructed to rinse with 15% honey. Both groups rinsed at the same time for 3 minutes. Then the salivary pH of each group is measured. Data analyzed by independent t-test between the two groups, showed a significance value of 0.037 in the control group and 0.041 in the treatment group (p <0.05). Paired t-test conducted in each group produced a significance value of 0.164 for the control group and 0.07 for the treatment group (p <0.05). Gargling with honey 15% can significantly increase the salivary pH of menopausal women compared to gargling with drinking water

    Postpartum intrauterine device (IUD) is a contraceptive service provided directly to the patients after they give birth. Postpartum IUD is recommended because in this period the cervix remains open and soft, thus facilitate the IUD insertion. Women’s motivation is very important to bring success to the IUD postpartum program The aim of this study was to describe the motivation of postpartum mothers using IUD in the postpartum ward in Wangaya Hospital, 2016. This study was a descriptive, cross-sectional study. The sampling technique used non probability sampling (census), in which the total population was used as the sample. There were 30 respondents who have fulfilled the inclusion and exclusion criteria involved in this study. The result showed that the motivation of postpartum mothers using IUD in wangaya hospital in the postpartum ward was high (100%). All respondents in the postpartum ward, Wangaya Hospital Denpasar had a good understanding on the benefit of using the postpartum IUD, thus influence the high use of postpartum IUD

Healthy and adequate nutrition play vital role to support dental health in children. Dental caries is one of the most frequent chronic infections in children and also has significant connection with nutrition aspect. The behaviour of high sugar food and beverage intake, fast food consumption, and frequent snacks consumption between meals increase the risk of dental caries. Overweight and obesity are also can increase the risk of dental caries in children. Usage of fluoride and xylitol as the prevention of dental caries. Another important prevention steps in reducing the risk of dental caries in children include limiting intake of sugar, fast food, snacks, and soda drink. Problems dental health of children in Indonesia is still a public health problem. Deficiency of energy, protein, vitamins A, C, D, folic acid, minerals Fe, Zn, Ca, P, F cause abnormalities in the teeth. WHO have included F as one of the essential nutrients in the prevention of dental caries. Anticariogenic diet are milk and its products like cheese. Cariogenic diet are carbohydrates that can be fermented by microorganisms such as sweet foods, candy, soda and fast food

    Tooth decay might be maintained through a variety of treatments, root canal treatment is the common treatment for irreversible damage. In the present decade many offer various kinds of fillers and root canal sealers, but each filler and sealer has advantages and disadvantages. The aim of this study was to ensure that resin sealer has good properties to fill root canal. The function of the root canal filling material is to fill the root canal and eliminate all entrances between the periodontium and the root canal. However, to get the ideal cover material, in addition to the core filling material, a sealer material is also needed to cover the gap between gutta percha and the root canal wall. This literature review concluded that resin sealers have biocompatibility, may adhere to dentin and have better adhesive properties than other sealers

    Acrylic resin denture base are recently used as material for removable denture base, as well as thermoplastic nylon denture base that have flexibility and good esthetic. Both of these materials have porosity where food debris can attach and forming plaques. Plaque is the main habitat of oral microorganisms. One of the most frequent oral bacteria is Streptococcus mutans. Plaque and microorganism on denture could make an inflammation on soft tissue underneath the denture called denture stomatitis.The aim of this study was to understand the amount of Streptococcus mutans on thermoplastic nylon and heat cured acrylic resin removable denture base plate with 24 hours and 48 hours contact time.This study used 6 thermoplastic nylon plate and 6 heat cured acrylic resin square shaped with 10x10x1 mm size, and heat cured acrylic resin as control. Plates were soaked on tubes with Streptococcus mutans suspension at 24 hours and 48 hours contact time then all the objects were count. This study was an experimental laboratories and the method was randomized post-test only control group design federer. One Way Anova was used as the data analysis.The result shows statistically different of Streptococcus mutans amount on thermoplastic nylon and heat cured acrylic resin removable denture base plate with 24 hours and 48 hours contact time (p<0.05). Porosity of denture base may lead accumulation of Streptococcus mutans and contact time predispose bacterial growth. It is concluded that Streptococcus mutans amount on thermoplastic nylon removable denture base plate is less than heat cured acrylic resin and it is increase along with the contact time

    Buffering capacity of saliva plays a very important role in maintaining the saliva pH. The saliva pH affected by the mechanical and chemical stimulation of the oral cavity such as rinse with 3% green tea extract. The purpose of this study is to know the increased of saliva pH after rinsing with 3% green tea extract for three minutes. Experimental research using pre test-post test control group design was conducted on students and patients at Dentistry Hospital Faculty of Dentistry Mahasaraswati University. 44 samples divided into four groups by simple random sampling technique. The average of saliva pH post rinsing with distilled water for three minutes 6,74+0,13; 3% Green tea extract for one minute 6,81+0,12; two minutes 6,96+0,13 and three minutes 7,12+0,12. Analysis by One Way Anova test showed p= 0,000, this means that after the treatment was given to all group, the saliva pH were significantly different. LSD test showed that the increased saliva pH after rinsing with 3% green tea extract for three minutes were higher than one minute and two minutes. The Conclusion is rinsing with 3% green tea extract for three minutes increases saliva pH

The flap is opening of mucosa and gingival separated from the underlying tissue to expand the field of view and access to the bone and root surface. There are several designs of fullthickness flap, partial, high semilunar flap, flap mid-level and the envelope flap. Each design of the flap has the thickness flap position advantages and disadvantages that can be used in a wide variety of surgical procedures. Flap design is determined by the operator, and also depends on the purpose of the surgery. The entrance to the bone and root surface tissue, as well as the final position of the flap must be considered in designing the flap. By knowing the technique of flap design will help to minimize surgical trauma that would happen later
