    No full text
Introduction: Dental and oral diseases in Indonesia still need attention. Theoral cavity is a place for microorganisms that cause infection that can affectthe general state of health in which the oral mucosa serves as a protector ordefense to protect the oral cavity from disease. One of the most common oral mucosal diseases is traumatic ulcer. Review: Traumatic ulcer is an oraldisease that often found in the community and often underestimated.Traumatic ulcer is a pathological condition characterized by loss of epithelial tissue due to sloughing of necrotic and widespread inflammatory tissue in thelamina propria, which caused by trauma, for example is when wearingdenture wings too sharp, causing ulcers. The etiology of traumatic ulcers arethermal, chemical, and mechanical trauma. The common location oftraumatic ulcers occurs in the labial/buccal mucosa, palate, and tongue.Needed for appropriate treatment for treat traumatic ulcers. Discussion: Fortreat traumatic ulcer, parts that can be used from the Javanese chili plant arethe fruit, leaves, and roots for treating bad breath, as antipyretic, antioxidant, antibacterial, and etc. Javanese chili (Piper Retrofractum Vahl.) hascompounds that act as antioxidants and antibacterial, namely flavonoid whichtrigger the growth of epithelial tissue in wound tissue, and piperine whichinhibits cyclooxygenase which has an effect on reducing leukocytes thatoccurs in traumatic ulcers. Conclusion: Javanese chili herbs contain activecompounds such as flavonoid and piperine which can heal traumatic ulcers

Introduction: Denture Stomatits (DS) is pathological changes in the oral mucosa that commonly occurs in denture users, which is characterized by an inflammatory reaction amd erythema in the area of the oral mucosa that is in contact with the denture. Review: There are 3 types of Denture Stomatitis, in order: tipe I Hyperemic Pinpoint lessions (Localized Simple Inflammation), type 2 Generalized Simple Inflammation , type 3 Inflammatory Papillary Hyperplasia . In general, DS occurs on the palatal mucosa. Risk factors such as trauma from occlusion from excessive dentures, poor OH and degenerative conditions ( systemic) are not good and had habbits such as smoking increase the occurrence of DS. The appearance of reddish lessions that occur in the palatal mucosa without symptoms of severe pain is one of the clinical features of DS condition. The diagnosis of DS can be made by clinical examination and microscopic tissue culture examination. Conclusion: Repairing dentures and making changes to the condition of oral hygene is one of the keys to success in accelerating the healing of DS. In addition, if there is a fairly severe candidiasis, topical and systematic antifungal drugs can be given to recover the condition

BULK FILL COMPOSITE RESIN RESTORATION TECHNIQUES REPLACE INCREMENTAL TECHNIQUES : TEKNIK RESTORASI RESIN KOMPOSIT BULK FILL MENGGANTIKAN TEHNIK INKREMENTAL

    No full text
Introduction: Shrinkage during the polymerization process is the main disadvantage of using composite resins because it creates pressure between the tooth and the restoration which causes failure of the adhesion of the composite resin to the tooth, micro-fissures, and cuspid deflection. Review: To reduce shrinkage that occurs, it is known that conventional composite resins must be inserted into the cavity incrementally or in layers with a maximum thickness of 2 mm per layer. However, the incremental insertion method has several disadvantages, namely that it requires a longer clinical time for restoration. To overcome the shortcomings of these conventional composites, Bulk-fill composite resin was introduced. Composite bulk fill is a sophisticated technology that allows composites to be directly placed on the restoration, has a low polymerization shrinkage to reduce micro-leakage, reduces stress in the presence of elasticity, increases the depth of at least 4 mm translucent at the time of application, is very conducive to light transmission, is more flowable to allow adaptation to the cavity, including cervical margins, it is easy to apply with minimal handling and is resistant to large stresses. Conclusion: With the characteristics possessed by the Bulk-fill composite resin, it is known that the bulk-fill technique in addition to reducing the clinical application time, can also improve the edge adaptation between the restoration and the tooth compared to the incremental technique, without reducing its physical strength

CU-SIL DENTURE AS A TRANSITIONAL PROSTHESIS TO PRESERVE THE REMAINING NATURAL TEETH USING PERMANENT SILICONE LINER: CASE REPORTS

    No full text
The goal of modern dentistry is to be conservative, preserving teeth but also maintaining the stability of the remaining alveolar ridge and the periodontium's proprioceptive capabilities. Cu-sil denture is the simplest approach in the preservation of teeth and maintaining proprioception. It is a type of transitional denture that provides an alternative treatment plan for the patients willing to replace their missing teeth while retaining their remaining natural teeth. It gives potential psychological benefits to the patients by avoiding extractions. It's a tissue-bearing acrylic appliance with a soft viscoelastic wrap that clasps the neck of each dentition, sealing out food and water simultaneously protecting and splinting each remaining tooth from the rigid acrylic denture base. This case reports series describes chairside techniques to fabricate Cu-sil dentures in the usual dental set-up

Introduction: Most Indonesian brushes their teeth unproperly. This causes the rate of toothache due to caries is still high. The skill of brushing teeth should be taught from a young age. Materaials and Methods: This study is an qualitative applied study, namely implementing brushing day and night program at school for 21 days. This program involves 252 children including their parents, 17 teachers, and 5 dentists as counselor. The number of samples were 17 children. They were from 17 different classes, who followed until finished. Children's age ranges from 7-12 years old. This activity was carried out online. The materials prepared were animated educational videos, a 21-days toothbrushing calendar, colored pencils, children's toothbrushes and fluoridated toothpaste. A structured interview was used as research instrumment. Educational themes for children include: knowledge about teeth in general, the causes of dental caries, the brushing teeth method, and the pledge to brushing teeth. This program includes promotive, preventive, and counseling activities. The data were carried out during and after the activity was completed, then analyzed qualitatively. Results and Discussions: Children diligently brush their teeth in the right way, every morning after breakfast, and at night before going to bed. Parents take an active role in providing facilities, and accompanying their children when brushing their teeth. Conclusion: Children's awareness to maintain dental health increases, it becomes better than before.&nbsp

Introduction: Herpes Labialis is the most common form of orofacial herpes, beginning with a feeling of vesicle formation at the vermilion margin of the lips and the surrounding area within 24 hours and then rupture, superficial erosion occurs which is then covered with crusts. Herpes labialis occurs in 50-75% of individuals exposed to HSV-1 infection in the oral cavity and often has a recurrence followed by prodromal symptoms. Reactivation can occur due to triggers in the form of decreased immune conditions due to weather changes, fever, sun exposure, emotional stress, trauma, menstruation, systemic diseases, allergies, and immunosuppression. Case: 22 years old female with a complaint of a wound on the angular lip, initially the patient had a fever for 2 days then a fluid-filled blister appeared which then rupture. Case management: The diagnosis is made using anamnesis, clinical and supporting examination. CBC and Antybody Titer HSV-1 show value under normal for eosinophil and reactive for IgG HSV-1 established. Patient take medicine topical antiinflammation 3 time a day and multivitamins 1 time a day. Discussion: HSV-1 infektion is latent and can reaktivation. Under Stress Condition can caused a reduced circulating population of immune cells such as IL-6, TNFα, Lymphocites B, NK cell, dan Monocytes which HSV-1 Reactivation. Conclusion: Management in case can be successful if the clinician understand HSV-1 Infection Manifestation and added Suporting Examination. In Addition, cooperation from the patien is needed to manage stress so that the disease no more recurrenc
