    Introduction: Knowledge is the result of human sensingor the result of knowing someone about an object through the senses they have at the time. Sensing to produce knowledge is strongly influenced by the intensity of attention and perception of the object. Stainless Steel Crown (SSC) is a dental alloy (alloy) nicarat which can be used for temporary or permanent fillings in the shape of dental anatomy. The research objective was to find out the level of knowledge of professional education students about SSC in pediatric patients at RSGM Baiturrahmah . Materials and Methods: This is descriptive with a cross-sectional research design, sampling technique with total sampling. The population  was taken from 50 professional education students at RSGM Baiturrahmah who carried out stainless-steel crown treatment with univariate analysis presented in the form of frequency distribution and data processing using the computerized SPSS program version of IBM 24.0 . Results: The results of this study were obtained because they had received material about the treatment of SSC in pediatric patients and before they carried out the treatment, they had responded in advance regarding the stages of SSC treatment in pediatric patients.     Introduction: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a systemic disease that affects many human populations in the world. One of DM’s oral complications is periodontitis. The pro-inflammatory cytokine that plays a major role in the relationship between these two diseases is TNF-α. Review: Diabetes mellitus is a systemic disease characterized by high blood glucose levels (hyperglycemia) due to inadequate insulin secretion, insulin resistance or both. Metabolic disorders caused by hyperglycemia can cause endothelial dysfunction in blood vessels. Endothelial dysfunction that occurs due to hyperglycemia can trigger an inflammatory response that can increase the progression of periodontitis. Periodontitis is a chronic inflammatory response in periodontal tissue to pathological microorganisms in dental biofilm. The periodontitis process begins with gingival inflammatory response. The initial phase of gingival inflammation is characterized by redness and bleeding on probing. Worsening inflammation will cause loss of periodontal tissue attachment and alveolar bone resorption which can lead to tooth loss. The inflammatory process that occurs in periodontitis involves pro-inflammatory cytokines that can influence insulin resistance, such as Tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α). Tumor necrosis factor-alpha is also a cytokine that plays a major role in the pathogenesis of diabetes mellitus, so that periodontitis and diabetes mellitus are interrelated diseases Conclusion: The TNF-α cytokine is a potential therapy target for periodontitis and diabetes mellitus

    Introduction: Periodontal disease results from a complex interplay between the subgingival biofilm and the host immune-immflamatory events that develop in the gingival and periodontal in response to the challenge presented by the bacteria. Gingivitis precedes periodontitis. In gingivitis , the inflammatory lesion is confined to the gingiva, however, with periodontits, the inflammatory processes extend to additionally affect the periodontal ligament and the alveolar bone. Review: The primary cause of gingival inflammattion is bacterial plaque. Other predisposing factors include calculus, faulty restoration complication associated with orthodontic therapy. Microbial plaque biofilm control is an effective way of treating and preventing gingivitis and is an essential part of all procedures involved in the treatment and prevention of periodontal diseases. Good supragingival biofilm control has also been shown to affect the growth and composition of subgingival plaque biofilm so that it favors a healthier microflora and reduces calculus formation. Carefully performed daily home plaque biofilm control, combined with frequent professionally delivered plaque biofilm and calculus removal, reduces the amount of supragingival biofilm, decreases the total number of microorganisms in moderately deep pockets, including furcation areas, and greatly reduces the quantity of periodontal pathogens. Chemical inhibitors of plaque biofilm and calculus that are incoporated in mouthwashes or dentifrices also play an important role in controlling microbial biofilms. Conclusion: Daily plaque biofilm control permits patients to assume responsibility for their own oral health every day

    Introduction: Red ginger (Zingiber officinale var. rubrum) is one of the herbal plants used as a wound healing drug because it contains high oleoresin and essential oil. Red ginger also has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial properties that can strengthen the immune system and prevent infection. For the safety of using herbal plants, it is necessary to do a toxicity test. Subacute toxicity test is a test to detect toxic effects after administration of test preparations with repeated doses given orally to test animals for 28 days. Objectives: the aim of the study is to determine whether red ginger extract has a toxic effect on the liver of mice. Materials and Methods: This is a laboratory experimental study using in vivo laboratory experimental methods using The Post Test Only Control Group design with sample grouping using a Completely Randomized Design. The 25 mice were divided into 5 groups, namely group I as control, group II to group V given the test extract at doses of 100, 200, 400, and 800mg/KgBW with one oral administration. On day 28, the mice were autopsied, and histopathological observations of the liver were performed. The data obtained were analyzed using the Kruskall Wallis test and continued with the Mann Whitney U test. Results and Discussions: in the control group tended to be in normal conditions, in treatment P1 parenchymal degeneration occurred, in treatment P2 hydropic degeneration occurred, in 55 treatment P3 hydropic degeneration and necrosis occurred, while in treatment P4 necrosis occurred. Conclusions: Red ginger extract had a subacute toxic effect on the liver of mice at a dose of 400 mg/kg BW, which was a score of 3 (hydropic degeneration) and a dose of 800mg/kg BW showed a score of 4 (necrosis)

    Introduction: Herpes Associated Erythema Multiforme (HAEM) is Erythema multiforme (EM) caused herpes virus infection.  EM a caused by an acute hypersensitivity reaction that occurs in the mucocutaneous area. HAEM is hypersensitivity reaction that occurs due to a hypersensitivity reaction to the herpes virus. Case: 17 year old male complaints of itching and dry on his lips since 5 days ago. patient said that ± 7 days ago he had a fever which lasted for 2 days then after the fever went down his lips felt itchy and dry. On clinical examination, desquamation with yellowish brown crusts was found on the vermilion of the upper and lower lips. Case Treatment: patient is given Aloclair® Gel and Becomzet®. Patient is referred for a complete blood count, Total IgE and IgM and IgG HSV-1 antibody testing. The patient was then given hydrocortisone cream 2.5% used 3 times a day. The patient recovered 10 days after the first visit. Discussion: HAEM is triggered by an immunological response in which an immune complex reaction occurs as a result of an immune response to certain antigens such as the herpes simplex virus or certain types of drugs. In cases of HAEM the herpes virus that triggers it is usually HSV-1 & HSV-2. Diagnosis is confirmed by Total IgE and HSV-1 Antibody Tests. Conclucion: Management of cases of HAEM can be successfully determined by establishing the correct diagnosis which requires investigations so that we can rule out the differential diagnosis and provide appropriate treatmen

    Introduction: Green grass jelly leaves (Cyclea barbata Miers) are well known by the public as food to reduce fever (fever), nausea, stomach ulcers, coughs and reduce high blood pressure, antioxidants, anti-inflammatories, and as analgesics, so safety needs to be controlled. Acute Toxicity Test is a test used to detect the toxic effect of a substance on a biological system and to obtain typical response data from test preparations, Lethal Dose 50 and toxicity classification. Research Objectives: To determine the safety of green grass jelly leaf extract (Cyclea barbata Miers) against mice (Mus musculus L.) by LD50 acute toxicity test. Research Methods: In the acute toxicity test using the Thomson-Weil calculation method and mice as experimental animals as many as 25 mice (Mus musculus). The mice were divided into 5 treatment groups with the main test series group I distilled water as the control, group II was given the test extract at a dose of 200 mg/kg, group III was given the test extract at a dose of 400 mg/kg, group IV was given the test extract at a dose of 800 mg/kg, and Group V was given the test extract at a dose of 1600 mg/kgBW with one oral administration and observed the number of deaths in each test animal after 24 hours to 14 days. Research Results: The results of the acute toxicity test showed that the LD50 value of green grass jelly leaf extract was 0.6166 gr/kg BW (moderately toxic). For acute toxicity, the weights of mice were analyzed using the ANOVA and LSD tests and for allergy testing using the Wilcoxon signed ranks test. Conclusion: the results of the analysis show that there is a significant difference at the test level of 0.05 (???? < 0.05)

    INHIBITORY POWER OF MAS BANANA PEEL EXTRACT (MUSA ACUMINATA LADY FINGER) ON THE GROWTH OF STAPHYLOCOCCUS AUREUS IN VITRO

    Introduction: Various sources of infectious disease can be found in the oral cavity. Prevention efforts include brushing your teeth properly and regularly. Besides that, gargling with mouthwash is one of the best additional prevention methods. In the literature it is known that mas banana peels contain antibacterial ingredients. The aim of this research was to determine whether banana peel extract (Musa acuminata lady finger) was able to inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria.  Material and Methods: Extracts of 25%, 50%, 75% concentration of dried mas banana peel were made, sterile distilled water as a negative control and 0.2% Chlorhexidine as a positive control. Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 as many as 3 bacterial colonies, spread evenly on sterile Nutrient Agar (NA) media. The paper discs were dipped for ± 30 seconds into 25%, 50%, 75% gold banana peel extract, 0.2% Chlorhexidine as a positive control and sterile Aquades as a negative control then incubated in an incubator at 37°C for 24 hours. The inhibition zone (clear area around the paper disc) was measured with a caliper (accuracy 0.02mm). The data obtained were tested for normality and homogeneity to determine whether or not there was a difference in the inhibitory power of banana mas (Musa acuminata lady finger) peel extract against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. Results and Discussion: The results showed that at a concentration of 75% there was an inhibitory power for the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria of 6.32 mm. Mas banana peel extract (Musa acuminata lady finger) has antibacterial content in the form of flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins and tannins which are able to inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria in vitro. Conclusion: Mas banana peel extract (Musa acuminata lady finger) can inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria in vitro with moderate criteria

    COST BENEFIT ANALYSIS OF OPENING DENTAL POLY SERVICES OR CHILDREN'S PHYSIOTHERAPY POLY SERVICES AT SAFAKILLAH CLINIC

    Introduction: Cost Benefit Analysis is an economic analysis used to evaluate the use of economic resources so that scarce economic resources can be used efficiently. In 2023, SK Clinic proposes opening a new poly clinic which aims to improve the health services provided by SK Clinic. Not all of these proposals can be proposed in their entirety, due to the limited funds that the SK clinic has. The aim of this research is to calculate the Cost Benefit Analysis between the proposal to open a Dental Clinic or Children's Physiotherapy Clinic. Material and Methods: This research used a quantitative descriptive type of research by comparing the costs and benefits between opening a Dental Clinic or Pediatric Physiotherapy Clinic at the SK clinic in Sidoarjo as the unit of analysis in this research. Cost analysis methods used Cost Benefit Analysis (CBA) and Benefit Cost Ratio (BCR) were also carried out to determine alternative actions to be taken. Results and Discussions: Based on the calculation results of each step of the Cost Benefit Analysis, it was found that each proposal had a different Benefit Cost Ratio (BCR) value, where the BCR value of the proposal to open a dental clinic was 1,48 smaller than the BCR value of the proposal to open a Children's Physiotherapy Clinic, which was equal to 1,97. Conclusion: Based on the BCR value, the proposal that was prioritized first was the proposal to open a Children's Physiotherapy Clinic so that this proposal will bring greater benefits to the SK Clinic for children

    Introduction: Disharmony between tooth position, jaw relation and facial soft tissue has a significant effect on facial appearance. Anatomical facial appearance is determined by the lower third of the face, especially the position of the lips and related parts which are affected by the inclination of the anterior teeth. The purpose of this study was to determine whether there was a correlation between the angle of inclination of the maxillary incisors and the convexity of facial soft tissue in Balinese women using the Holdaway method. Materials and Method: This type of research was analytic observational with a cross sectional approach. This study used a sample of 31 lateral cephalometric photographs of Balinese females for tracing. Samples were taken by means of purposive sampling, based on specified criteria. Results and discussion: Pearson correlation analysis showed that the relationship between the angle of inclination of the upper incisors was significant. Conclusion: Based on this study, it can be concluded that there was a correlation between maxillary incisor inclination angle on the facial soft tissue convexity in Balinese females using the Holdaway method

    THE RELATIONSHIP OF CHEWING GUM WITH TEMPOROMANDIBULAR JOINT DISORDERS: RAPID REVIEW

    Introduction: Temporomandibular joint disorder are reported to affect 50 until 75% of the adult population and can affect an individual’s quality of life. The etiology of this disorder is multifactorial; it can be caused by parafunctional habit, chewing gum. 13% of adolescents and adults were reported chewing gum regularly. This study aims to determine the relationship between chewing gum and temporomandibular joint disorder. Review: This study was conducted using the rapid review method with screening and search referring to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-analysis (PRISMA) guidelines. Article searches were performed using keywords and inclusion criteria in the Google Scholar, PubMed, and ScienceDirect databases. A total of 4 articles using observational research methods were included. Evaluation of the habit of chewing gum was carried out using questionnaires and interviews, while the paramenters used to evaluate temporomandibular joint disorders were anamnesis and clinical examination based on the Research Diagnostic Criteria for TMD (RDC/TMD). Three articles indicated that there was a significant association between gum chewing and temporomandibular disorder, whereas 1 article concluded that further studies on this topic were necessary. The heterogeneity that occurs can be caused by differences in sample characteristics and methods. Conclusion: The habit of chewing gum can cause temporomandibular joint disorder
