The oral tradition of the Malay community in the Nusantara plays a central role in transmitting Islamic educational values across generations. Through mediums such as advisory pantun, gurindam, religious syair, customary proverbs, tunjuk ajar Melayu, as well as folktales and legends, values of faith, law, and morality are conveyed subtly yet profoundly in everyday life. This study aims to explore the transmission process of Islamic educational values embedded in Malay oral traditions, focusing on their meanings, functions, and contexts of delivery in Langkat Regency. A qualitative approach was employed, utilizing text analysis, interviews, and cultural observation. The findings reveal that oral tradition serves not merely as a medium of entertainment or literature but also as a deeply rooted instrument of da'wah and education within the local culture. The identified values include: (1) divinity (tawhid), (2) morality and social ethics, (3) patriotism, (4) love of knowledge and education, and (5) the sustainable preservation of ancestral culture. These findings highlight the successful acculturation between Islam and Malay culture and suggest that oral traditions can serve as a relevant and contextual model for character education in the modern era

Globalization and technological developments have posed significant challenges to students’ character education, including weakened morality, rising individualism, diminished appreciation of cultural values, and reduced sensitivity to religious teachings. This study aims to analyze the implementation of integrating Minangkabau local wisdom and Islamic values in character education at SMAN 1 West Sumatra, as well as the strategies employed by the school to optimize this integration. The study uses a qualitative case study approach, involving in-depth interviews with school leaders, teachers, and students, participatory observations, and analysis of school documents and visual archives. Full text link
Santri in Dayah are required to use foreign languages in the school environment. Those who violate this rule will receive sanctions. Previously, corporal punishment was often given to students who did not comply, but this is clearly contrary to Law Number 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection. In this regard, this study aims to analyze the problems faced by Dayah Ulumuddin Lhokseumawe in enforcing the language discipline of students after the enactment of the Law, as well as the efforts made in disciplining foreign language students. This research method uses a descriptive analysis-based qualitative method, in which case observation interviews, and documentation studies become data collection techniques. The results of the study reveal that the problems faced by teachers in disciplining foreign-speaking students are the teacher's concern that the disciplinary actions taken by students will be legally problematic, which results in a decrease in the enthusiasm of teachers to enforce the discipline of foreign-speaking students. The disciplinary efforts made are revising the punishment for language violations into educational punishments, innovating language coaching programs, balancing rewards and punishments, increasing learning motivation, and socializing child protection laws to those responsible for enforcing foreign language discipline. This research has implications for the effectiveness of foreign language discipline enforcement among dayah students

The challenges of globalization and modernization can blur students' Islamic identity, especially in learning fiqh nisa', due to the influence of outside cultures that are often contrary to Islamic values. Therefore, learning innovations are needed that encourage active student involvement and provide direct experience from the reality of everyday life. Among the forms of learning innovation is combining Student Centered Learning (SCL) and Experiential Learning (EL) in learning fiqh nisa'. This research analyzes the innovation with a focus on the form, contribution, and constraints of innovation. This research was conducted at the Personality and Leadership Development Program of Muhammadiyah University of Malang. The research method used is qualitative, with a phenomenological study approach. The results revealed that the forms of learning innovations implemented were problem-based learning and social experience projects. This innovation contributes to increasing student involvement, linking material with real life, and developing critical thinking. The obstacles are the lack of teaching skills, limited resources, resistance to change, time constraints, and the challenge of connecting Islamic values with modern reality. The research findings support Imam al-Ghazali's theory of at-Talim min Khilal al-Khibra wa at-Tatbiq, which prioritizes learning through experience and application
