Contributions of Madrasah Diniyah Takmiliyah Awaliyah to Advancing Qur'anic Literacy

Al-Qur'an literacy is a significant challenge in Indonesia, where most students have low reading and comprehension skills. This phenomenon is exacerbated by changes in learning culture, such as children's preference for gadgets and digital entertainment, which reduces the time available for reading the Al-Qur'an. This study aims to analyze the contribution of Madrasah Diniyah Takmiliyah Awaliyah as a driver of Quran literacy in Padangsidimpuan City, as well as to explore learning strategies, supporting factors, and obstacles to its implementation. The method used is multisite qualitative, with data collection through participatory observation, interviews, and documentation in two madrasas. The results show that the Qur'an literacy program at Madrasah Diniyah Takmiliyah Awaliyah, including tahsin, tahfiz, and tilawah competitions, is effective in improving reading and comprehension skills, as well as fostering a love for and internalization of the values of the Qur'an. The success of the program depends on teacher competence, parental involvement, and a conducive learning environment. The implications of this study confirm the strategic role of Madrasah Diniyah Takmiliyah Awaliyah as a non-formal institution that strengthens Al-Qur'an literacy, shapes religious character, and prepares a generation of Muslims with noble character and Qur'anic competence

Low self-esteem can lead to negative compensatory behaviors, while high self-esteem can lead to online aggression. These behaviors are contrary to Islamic values that promote morals. This study examines the relationship between self-esteem and cyberbullying behavior of Islamic students. This study aims to analyze the relationship between self-esteem and cyberbullying behavior among Muslim students in Islamic universities on social media platforms. A descriptive-correlational quantitative survey approach was used to collect data from a sample of 295 students. Pearson correlation analysis was conducted to assess the relationship between self-esteem and digital bullying behavior. The findings showed a strong positive correlation (r=0.724) between self-esteem and bullying behavior on social media, with a significance value of 0.000<0.05, indicating this relationship is statistically significant and very strong. The findings also indicate that decreased levels of self-esteem are associated with increased incidence of cyberbullying behavior. This study provides implications for increased understanding of cyberbullying in Islamic higher education settings. The findings guide the creation of focused initiatives, policies, and additional scientific studies targeting the reduction of cyberbullying. Given its emphasis on different demographics, this study is important because it provides a new angle in a broader research domain

The achievement of teacher performance does not only depend on the strategy or approach used, but also depends on the leadership model. The principal of SMPIT Al-Multazam applies a transformational leadership model based on total quality management to improve teacher performance. This research analyzes the principal's role in applying transformational leadership in realizing professional teacher performance. This research uses a case study-based qualitative method, with data collection methods of observation, interviews, and documentation studies. The results found that principals' transformational leadership significantly contributes to improving teachers' motivation, parents' involvement and the implementation of systematic evaluation, which overall improves the quality of education in schools. The active involvement of all stakeholders, including parents, also proved important in supporting the learning process. This study recommends that principals continue to encourage professional development for teachers and increase parental involvement in the education process. Thus, the application of total quality management principles based on transformational leadership can be a model for other Islamic education institutions. The implications of this study show that the application of transformational leadership based on total quality management not only improves teacher performance but also creates an environment conducive to holistic learning

Religious Moderation and Student Harmony: A Phenomenological Study of Duha Prayer Practices in Indonesian Overseas Schools

Religious moderation needs to be instilled from an early age, not only through formal education, but also through daily practices. One example is the duha prayer in congregation, which as a sunnah practice requires tolerance from those of other religions. The practice is implemented in the Sanggar Bimbingan Gombak Utara in Malaysia, so this research aims to analyze the implementation with the focus of the study on efforts to build harmony, and the obstacles faced. This research uses a qualitative approach based on phenomenology, with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation studies. Data analysis used the miles and huberman technique. The results reveal that the efforts made to build harmony include the implementation of an inclusive approach, integration of religious moderation in the curriculum, and parental involvement. The obstacles faced include a non-complex understanding of religious moderation and socio-cultural resistance. In the practice of duha prayer, students are accustomed to respecting differences in religious teachings, respecting time, and maintaining good friendships. The results of this study support Vygotsky's social constructivism theory, which emphasizes the role of social interaction in building shared understanding and values

This article examines the teaching of classical Islamic texts (or kitab kuning) in traditional Islamic educational institutions in contemporary Gayo Land. The study is based on research conducted at Dayah Bustanul Arifin 2 in Bener Meriah Regency, Aceh Province, Indonesia. This research is a qualitative research, where data collection is done with: interviews, observations, and documentation, with the data subsequently analyzed using the Miles and Huberman analytical model. The article demonstrates that Dayah Bustanul Arifin 2 plays a role in transmitting traditional Islamic practices in contemporary Gayo Land. It also confirms the research by Martin van Bruinessen, Karel A. Steenbrink, and Zamakhsyari Dhofier on traditional Islamic educational institutions, pesantren, and kitab kuning. The study finds that pesantren in Aceh, known locally as dayah, are traditional Islamic educational institutions that teach Islamic doctrines according to the views of past scholars, both from the Middle East and the Nusantara region, as expressed in their scholarly works written in Arabic language and script. These works cover a range of religious disciplines and represent the intellectual heritage of the Shafi‘i school, the Ash‘ariyya doctrine, and the Sufism of Imam al-Ghazali. The use of classical teaching methods such as sorogan, bandongan, and memorization further underscores that Dayah Bustanul Arifin 2 reinforces and transmits traditional Islamic practices in contemporary Gayo Land. This also affirms that dayah, as a traditional Islamic educational institution in Aceh, retains its resilience and appeal to advance and develop into a professional educational institution

Implementation of the Multiple Intelligence Approach in Qur'anic Memorization Learning: Analysis of Strategies and Students Social Interaction Patterns

Memorizing the Qur'an often faces challenges related to the diversity of students' learning styles. Each individual has a different way of learning, which is caused by differences in intelligence types. Therefore, an approach that accommodates this diversity of intelligence is important in learning, one of which is the Multiple Intelligences approach developed by Howard Gardner. This approach emphasizes that every individual possesses various types of intelligence that can be optimized, such as linguistic intelligence, musical intelligence, interpersonal intelligence, and intrapersonal intelligence. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Multiple Intelligences approach in Qur'an memorization learning, focusing on the potential application, strategies, and challenges faced in its implementation. The method used is a qualitative case study approach, with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that the application of learning strategies tailored to students' dominant intelligences has a positive impact on improving Quran memorization. The implications of this study suggest that the Multiple Intelligences approach can enhance Quran memorization outcomes and students' learning motivation, consistent with Howard Gardner's theory of Multiple Intelligences
