    No full text
This study addresses the need for engaging and effective instructional media in teaching recount text writing for eighth graders students at MTs Nurul Huda Grogol Masangan Bungah Gresik. Using the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE model Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation the research developed a series of digital pictures tailored to students' and teacher’s needs, identified through questionnaires and interviews. The media was created using Canva and CapCut, providing visual support to help students organize and express their ideas in writing. After expert and practitioner validation, followed by classroom tryouts, the product showed promising results. It enhanced student engagement, facilitated the writing process, and improved overall outcomes. These findings suggest that the digital picture series is both effective and appropriate for supporting recount text instruction at the junior high school level

Enhancing Writing Skills through Intercultural-Based Metacognitive Strategies

    No full text
This systematic literature review explores the impact of interculturally-based metacognitive strategies in improving academic writing in higher education. The study examines the various components of these strategies, including declarative, procedural, and conditional knowledge, and their role in improving writing proficiency, especially for ESL and multilingual learners. Key strategies such as planning, monitoring, and evaluating were found to significantly influence students' writing outcomes by fostering metacognitive awareness and promoting critical thinking. Moreover, the integration of cultural awareness with metacognitive practices enriches students' ability to adapt their writing style to diverse academic contexts and audiences. This research highlights the role of immersive learning environments and learning strategies in strengthening these skills. Despite the benefits, challenges related to the gap between theory and practice and cultural nuances in strategy implementation remain. The review concludes by emphasizing the need for further research to address these challenges and optimize the integration of cross-culturally based metacognitive strategies in academic writing curricula

Empowering EFL Readers Through Gamified Jigsaw Strategies in Non-Fiction Narratives

    No full text
This study aims to enhance EFL students' reading comprehension of non-fiction narrative texts through the implementation of a Gamified Jigsaw Strategy. Conducted as a Classroom Action Research with eleventh-grade students in Karawang, the study followed a cycle of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. Students engaged in Jigsaw-based group discussions complemented by gamified activities using platforms such as WordWall, Educaplay, Genially, and Padlet. The findings indicated a significant improvement, with 75% of students achieving the minimum standard score for English. The integration of gamification successfully maintained student engagement despite scheduling challenges, while the use of culturally relevant texts fostered emotional connections that enhanced comprehension. Although limitations prevented the implementation of a second cycle, the first cycle demonstrated that the Gamified Jigsaw Strategy is an effective approach to empower EFL learners' reading skills. Future research is recommended to refine this method and explore its broader applications across diverse educational contexts

A Quantitative Study of the Relationship between Vocabulary and Grammar Mastery and English-to-Indonesian Translation Ability

    No full text
This quantitative study investigates the extent to which vocabulary and grammar mastery contribute to students' ability to translate English texts into Indonesian. Using a predictive correlational design, the research involved 30 English Education students who had completed a translation course. Data were collected through three instruments: a vocabulary test, a grammar test (each comprising 20 multiple-choice items), and a translation task. Translation outputs were evaluated using an analytic scoring rubric focusing on semantic accuracy. The data were analyzed using multiple linear regression. Results indicated that vocabulary mastery had a significant positive impact on translation performance (β = 0.705, p < .001), whereas grammar mastery showed a weaker and non-significant effect (β = 0.226, p = .070). The regression model accounted for 68.6% of the variance in translation outcomes (R² = 0.686), suggesting that both vocabulary and grammar are important, with vocabulary emerging as the stronger predictor. These findings highlight the crucial role of vocabulary knowledge in achieving accurate translations. While grammar remains relevant, its contribution was not statistically significant in this study. The results provide useful insights for language instruction, underscoring the need to prioritize vocabulary development in translation training to enhance students’ competence in transferring meaning accurately between languages

This study aims to examine the implementation of the recitation method in enhancing the engagement of Paket C learners in English language learning at SKB Karawang. This research employed a descriptive qualitative method, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate that the recitation method is effective in increasing learning activeness, as reflected in improved participation, willingness to ask questions, involvement in discussions, and the ability to evaluate learning outcomes. The implementation process includes task assignment, execution, and accountability, which foster learner independence and critical thinking skills. Supporting factors in the implementation include positive psychological conditions and guidance from tutors, while inhibiting factors involve learners' physical conditions and an unsupportive learning environment. Therefore, the recitation method can be considered an effective strategy to enhance the learning activeness of learners at SKB Karawang

This study explores the effectiveness of a Canva-based digital poster design training in empowering micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in Kp. Pasir Handap, West Bandung. The training aimed to enhance participants’ technical skills, digital literacy, and confidence in using technology for promotional purposes. Employing a one-group pretest-posttest design, the study involved ten MSME participants with limited prior experience in graphic design. Quantitative data collected through pre- and post-training questionnaires revealed significant improvements in participants’ understanding and use of Canva’s basic features. The training also incorporated adult learning principles (andragogy) to ensure contextual and practical learning experiences. The results suggest that simple, targeted digital training can effectively bridge technological gaps among rural entrepreneurs, contributing to improved marketing capabilities and supporting the broader agenda of digital transformation in Indonesia’s informal sector.

This study aims to describe the strategies of communication, information, and education (KIE) implemented by health cadres in increasing community participation at Posyandu Virgo 6, Bekasi Regency, and to identify the challenges encountered during implementation. A descriptive qualitative approach was used, with data collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The informants included the head of the cadres, two cadre members, and two posyandu participants. The results showed that KIE strategies were carried out through interpersonal, educative, participatory, and adaptive approaches. Communication was conducted directly using simple language, visual media such as posters and the maternal and child health (KIA) book, and dialogue-based education. These strategies proved effective in raising awareness and increasing community attendance. However, cadres faced several challenges, including limited understanding among some residents, shortage of cadre personnel, lack of educational media, and absence of supporting facilities such as toilets. Therefore, support from multiple parties, including cadres, community members, village government, and health workers, is needed to ensure that the implementation of KIE strategies at the posyandu can operate more effectively and sustainably

The advancement of digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI) presents new opportunities in Indonesian language learning, particularly in supporting students’ writing creativity and increasing engagement in elementary education. However, the use of AI-generated illustrations, especially those resembling Pixar-style visuals, remains rarely integrated into Project-Based Learning (PjBL) models. This study aims to describe students’ responses to the implementation of AI-assisted digital picture story media in Grade VI Indonesian language learning. The media were developed from students’ written stories, which were then transformed into digital picture stories using AI-generated illustrations as the final project product. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach with a survey design involving 33 students. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire covering six aspects: media quality, learning convenience, interest in AI illustrations, learning experience through PjBL, benefits of the media for writing skills, and students’ motivation and engagement. The findings show that the overall student response reached 85.66%, categorized as very positive. Specifically, media quality received 87%, learning convenience 84%, interest in AI illustrations 89%, PjBL learning experience 86%, benefits for writing skills 80%, and motivation and engagement 88%. These results indicate that integrating AI-assisted digital picture story media through PjBL enhances students’ interest, creativity, and motivation, and has strong potential as an effective innovation in Indonesian language learning
