    This research examines the learning of mathematics-learning cooperatives the type of Team Assisted Individualization with contextual approach and it is relation with improved mathematical connection quality of high school (Junior High School) Private in the city of Bandung. The purpose of this research was: know how to increasiing learner mathematical connection quality who follow the method of contextual approach Through Cooperative Learning the Type of TAI compared with students who follow the teaching of mathematics with the conventional models, implementation approach contextual approach in class and the difficulties faced students of middle school in solving about the connection mathematics. The study instrument apply was a black-and-white exam mathematical connection quality. The results obtained in the form of the pretest and posttest scores then processed with statistical methods test the difference of two averages. The output indicate that improvement of connection quality of middle school student who follow the method of contextual approach Through Cooperative Learning the Type of TAI is more increased compared with students who follow the teaching of mathematics with the conventional models. Implementation contextual approach can improve the ability of connection mathematics students middle school, the difficulties faced students middle school in solving about the connection mathematics is indicator using math in the part of another study or in daily life

    IMPROVING STUDENTS’ READING COMPREHENSION THROUGH SMALL GROUP WORK TECHNIQUE AT THE SEVENTH GRADE STUDENTS OF SMP ROSA JAYA

    The objective of this research entitled Improving Students’ Reading Comprehension through Small Group Work Technique at the Seventh Grade Students of SMP ROSA JAYA on academic year 2016/2017 was to find out whether or not the technique was effective to improve the students’ reading comprehension. In this research, the method that the writer used was one group pretest-posttest design and quantitative research method. The instruments of the research were pretest and posttest which contained five questions which should be answered based on a text they read. The pretest was given to find out the comprehension of the students at the beginning before the treatment, and the posttest was given to find out the ability of the students after they were given treatment. The research population was the students of the seventh grade of SMP ROSA JAYA which consisted of three classrooms, and the sample of the research was 30 students selected using random sampling technique. The data of this research were collected by giving the students pretest and posttest. The collected data were analyzed by using t-test formula. The result of this research showed that: the mean score of pretest was 59.67. The mean score of posttest was 77.83. The t-observed was 4.812. The t-table critical value was 29 and significance level at 0.05 was 2.045. Based on the data analysis, the writer concluded that the alternative hypothesis was accepted because the tobs was higher than the ttable (4.812 > 2.045). It also meant that Improving Students’ Reading Comprehension Through Small Group Work Technique at the Seventh Grade Students of SMP ROSA JAYA on Academic Year 2016/2017 has significantly shown that the technique could improve the students’ reading comprehension

    TEACHING STUDENT’S READING COMPREHENSION USING TWO STAY TWO STRAY TECHNIQUE

    Reading comprehension is an important part of the reading process. In learning English, students may face some difficulties in learning reading, even though they are students of Senior High School. Therefore the teacher should teach them by appropriate technique to solve their difficulties. This research was conducted to find out the effectiveness of using two stays two stray technique in teaching student’s reading comprehension. It was conducted by quantitative research design with pre-experimental one group pretest-posttest design involving 32 of tenth-grade students of Senior High School in Cianjur. The instrument used in this research was tested (pretest-posttest) which given before and after treatment. The result of data analysis in this research shows the t score is 25.106, it is higher than t table with a degree of freedom (df) 31 and level of significant (2-tailed) at 5% (0.05) which has the value of 2.039. Because t score > t table  (25.106 > 2.039), then Ha is accepted. In other words, there is the effectiveness of using two stays two stray technique in teaching student’s reading comprehension

    TEACHING ENGLISH VOCABULARY USING CROSSWORD PUZZLE GAME AT THE SEVENTH GRADE STUDENTS

    Teaching English is one of activity in the classroom. A game can use to improve students’ vocabularies mastery in the process of teaching learning, so students do not get bored while studying English. This research is attempted to verify the effectiveness of the Crossword Puzzle Game in teaching vocabulary at the seventh grade students of SMPN 10 Cimahi. The main objective is to figure out whether the crossword puzzle game is effective to improve the students’ vocabularies or not. The method is used quantitative research and pre-experimental research design conducted in one class. The populations of this research are the seventh grade students. And the sample is one class of the seventh grade students, which is class VII.E that consists of 32 students. The data is collected with the pretest and posttest as an instrument. The data analysis shows the result of mean score of posttest is higher than mean score of the pretest. The result of computation using Wilcoxon based on the table of test statistics, asymptotic significance (2-tailed) = 0.000 which is lower than 0.05. It means the alternative hypothesis is supported. Therefore, teaching English vocabulary using crossword puzzle game is effective to improve the students’ vocabulary. Keywords: Teaching, Vocabulary, Crossword Puzzle Gam

    Improving Students' Interest by Using Matching Card Media

    There are so many words in English. Learning these words is a big problem for students of English. However, there are ways to solve this problem. One way is to become familiar with the process of word formation. This process enables students to understand how a word is formed. This analysisis in important and use ful to learn because they are very commonly used in English. Developing some skills in taking words apart will help students better understand what they read, what the meaning of a word, and finally increase students' interest. The purposes of this research are to find out wheter using matching card media can improve students interest in learning english and what the students responses. The subject of this research was class XI Slb ; which consisted of 8 students. This research was done in two cycles. The researcher used short answer tests, observation checklist tables, and field notes as the tools of collecting data. The research finding showed that the students interest to learning english language improved   the first cycle to the last cycle. The result of the students 70 %  improved their  interest , improved their in speaking  40%, improved student writing 70%,  recognize word formation and matching card process 70%,  participate in class discussion 25%, and get better class attendance. From the result above, the-writers believe that matcing card is very use ful to improve students' intererst and has positive impact towards the students learning process

    AN ANALYSIS OF DEIXIS USING “BEAUTY AND THE BEAST†MOVIE SCRIPT

    This study deals with the English deixis. The objectives of this study are to analyze type of deixis and to find out the frequency of each deixis in the movie entitled Beauty and The Beast. This study was conducted by using descriptive qualitative research. The source of data was taken from the movie script of Beauty and The Beast. Documentary technique is used in collecting data. The findings showed that there are three types of deixis found in the Beauty and The Beast movie script and there are nine frequencies of deixis, namely person deixis in greater occurrences than another. Type of person deixis is used 128 times or (84,21%), which consists of first person used 53 times or (34,86 %), second person used 52 times or (34,21 %), and third person used 23 times or (15,13 %). The next, spatial (place) deixis is used 12 times or (7,89 %) and the last, temporal (time) deixis is used 12 times or (7,89 %) which consists of present used 5 times or (3,28 %), past used 5 times or (3,28 %), future used 2 times or (1,31 %). The least frequently used by the Beast in Beauty and the Beast Speech film`s dialogue was first person deixis used 53 times or (34,86 %). Keywords:  Pragmatic, Movie,  Deixi

    TEACHING SPEAKING THROUGH (IGA) INFORMATION GAP ACTIVITY AT TENTH GRADE OF MAN 4 KARAWANG

    Speaking is the one of language skill that is used in communication to deliver the intention of utterances. speaking is an activity that can not be separated with teaching and learning process. speaking has become a skill that should be owned by teacher. Information gap activity is the activity that each student have different information that should be completed with exchanging the information with their friend because there is a gap between the information. The objective of the research is whether information gap activity effective to the students’ speaking ability. The writer used quantitative research design and for the method is pre-experimental method. The participants of the research is X IPA 2 of MAN 4 Karawang consist of thirty two students. The data conducted through pretest and posttest and computed using SPSS 24. The result of the test is effective. From the normality of distribution test, the result of the test is normal, significance value on Kolmogrov Smirnov is 0.078 on pretest and 0.073 on posttest. It means the data is normally distributed because the value is higher than 0.05. The result of significance value is 0.312 it is higher than 0.05, as a result the test is homogen. Beside that, in one sample t-test, the result of significance two tailed is 0.000 and lower than 0.05. from the data above, it can be concluded that the null hypothesis of this research that is “Information gap activity is not effective to teach speaking†is rejected. In other word, it was proven that teaching speaking using information gap activity is effective to be used by teacher.Key words: Speaking, Information gap

    LAYANAN BIMBINGAN DAN KONSELING DALAM MENINGKATKAN KEDISIPLINAN SISWA

    Terlambat ke sekolah merupakan perilaku tidak disiplin peserta didik karena disiplin itu adalah persesuaian terhadap keadaan, dimana seseorang mampu menggerakan, mengatur dan mengendalikan dirinya dalam segala hal dan pengendaliannya berada dalam dirinya masing-masing dan harus disesuaikan dengan nilai-nilai agama dan norma-norma yang berlaku dimasyarakat. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui Layanan Bimbingan Konseling Individual Dalam Meningkatkan Kedisiplinan Siswa, kemudian untuk mengetahui hambatan dan hasil yang telah dicapai dalam Layanan Bimbingan Konseling Individual di SMPN Satu Atap Cikoneng Kabupaten Bandung. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menempuh langkah-langkah : menentukan lokasi penelitian, menentukan metode penelitian, menentukan populasi dan sampel penelitian, menentukan jenis dan sumber data, menentukan teknik pengumpulan data, Dari data yang penulis peroleh, maka  penulis mengambil kesimpulan bahwa layanan Bimbingan dan konseling  dalam meningkatkan kedisiplinan Siswa SMPN Satu Atap Cikoneng, guru bimbingan dan konseling mampu menjadi  pembimbing, contoh dan teladan, pengawasan dan pengendali. Dimana guru bimbingan dan konseling senantiasa mengawasi perilaku peserta didik pada jam-jam sekolah. Agar tidak penyimpangan perilaku atau tindakan yang indisiplin. Â
