ENHANCING STUDENTS’ SCIENTIFIC LITERACY THROUGH A DISCOVERY LEARNING MODEL ASSISTED BY SCIENCE MODULES ON MADURESE BATIK
Students’ scientific literacy in Indonesia, especially at the junior high school level, is still low, thus requiring an innovative learning approach. Integrating local wisdom, such as Madurese batik, into science learning makes learning more contextual. This research aimed to analyze the effect of discovery learning assisted by a Madurese Batik science module on students’ scientific literacy improvement. A one-group pretest-posttest design was utilized for this study, involving a sample of 31 students from class 7 at SMPN 2 Bangkalan. The research instrument used an essay test on scientific literacy competency. The analysis technique used the Wilcoxon and the N-Gain tests. The findings indicated a significant improvement in students’ scientific literacy (Wilcoxon sig. = 0.000), with a moderate N-Gain of 0.65. This study implies that integrating local wisdom into discovery learning can be an effective strategy to enhance students’ scientific literacy

Hibridisasi Pendidikan Islam dan Neurosains: Implementasi Paradigma Integrasi Keilmuan dalam Pendidikan Islam
This study aims to analyze the integration of Islamic education and neuroscience as a hybrid paradigm in contemporary education. Islamic education ontologically emphasizes the unity of the spiritual, intellectual, and physical in the educational process, while neuroscience provides a scientific basis for brain function, emotions, and behavior in learning. Using a descriptive qualitative approach based on literature review, this study found significant intersections between the two in forming a holistic educational paradigm. This hybridization is realized through the development of an educational model that is not only oriented towards intellectual development but also towards the formation of character and spiritual awareness of students. This integration can be implemented through curriculum design, Islamic neuroeducation-based learning strategies, and the strengthening of faith values in pedagogical practice. This study recommends further development in the realm of educational practice, so that the integration of the values of revelation and reason can become the foundation for the transformation of adaptive and transformative Islamic education in the modern era. This study aims to analyze the integration of Islamic education and neuroscience as a hybrid paradigm in contemporary education.
Gaps and Challenges in Child Marriage Regulation: An Indonesian and Australian Legal Perspective
Child marriage remains a persistent global issue, including in Indonesia and Australia. Despite legal frameworks that set a minimum age for marriage, the practice persists due to loopholes, socio-cultural factors, and weak enforcement. This study adopts a comparative legal approach by analysing statutory regulations, court decisions, and relevant academic literature within the contexts of Islamic law, Indonesian law, and Australian law. Findings reveal that the challenges in regulating child marriage are not purely juridical but are significantly influenced by psychosocial conditions. In Indonesia, the prevalence of marriage dispensations and cultural norms that tolerate early marriage creates a tension between legal norms and social realities. In contrast, Australia, while having a stronger legal framework and a relatively low prevalence, still allows dispensations for those aged 16–17 and faces cases of forced marriage within migrant communities, compounded by limited national data. The study’s contribution lies in demonstrating the importance of a legal-psychosocial perspective for understanding and addressing child marriage regulation. Protecting children’s rights, therefore, requires not only normative reforms but also comprehensive social interventions that address underlying cultural and structural drivers
Infrastruktur PAUD di Indonesia: Antara Standar Ideal dan Realita Lapangan
The government has established various policies and national standards related to facilities and infrastructure for PAUD, but implementation in the field still shows significant gaps, especially in areas with geographical limitations. This study aims to assess the infrastructure condition of PAUD institutions in Subang District, as well as identify challenges and efforts made in meeting ideal standards. The method used is a qualitative case study with data collection through interviews, observation, and documentation. Participants in this study consisted of PAUD teachers and representatives of the local education office. The results show that infrastructure limitations such as lack of proper classrooms, sanitation and play areas are still a major issue. These challenges are exacerbated by budget constraints, difficult geographical locations, and suboptimal cross-sector support. The findings confirm the importance of more contextualized policies, cross-sectoral collaboration and strengthened infrastructure support to realize inclusive and quality ECD in all regions of Indonesia
Nurturing Nationalism: A Qualitative Study of the Role of the Ansor Youth Movement and Muhammadiyah Youth in Defending the Nation as a Form of Civic Involvement
This article explores the strategic contributions of two Islamic-based youth organizations. Ansor Youth Movement and Muhammadiyah Youth are working to actualize the values of national defense and strengthen civic engagement amid contemporary socio-political challenges in Indonesia. The background of this study is rooted in the urgent need to revitalize the concept of national defense, which is no longer limited to militaristic dimensions but also involves the role of citizens in maintaining social integration, interfaith tolerance, and national unity. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study method, conducted in Tangerang Regency, Banten Province. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and document analysis, then analyzed using data reduction, thematic categorization, and interpretive meaning analysis. The findings reveal that the actualization of national defense by both organizations is implemented through cadre education, leadership training, and public advocacy grounded in national and religious values. Their involvement in cross-identity social actions, collaboration with the government, and efforts to counter intolerance serve as tangible forms of active citizenship. Furthermore, the development of social capital through solidarity, norms of reciprocity, and trust networks has proven crucial in strengthening civic resilience and national security. This article recommends the enhancement of harmony between youth organizations, government institutions, and educational entities in constructing an inclusive, critical, and value-based model of citizenship
The Tradition of Ledug Sura in Islamic Education (Case Study in Magetan District)
Globalization has increased the development of various aspects of religious and cultural life in Magetan Regency. The increasing era of globalization is accompanied by the continued advancement of Islamic education, as well as customs that need to be preserved. This research focuses on Javanese customs, specifically the Ledug Sura tradition, during the Islamic New Year celebration, with a particular emphasis on Magetan Regency. The purpose of this research is to determine the importance of religious values in this tradition, which can be incorporated into Islamic education while also respecting the customs that exist within that culture. The method employed is a qualitative case study approach, which involves directly observing this tradition in action. The results of the study indicate that the Ledug Sura tradition serves not only as a means of celebration but also as an important medium for disseminating Islamic educational values among the local community. The impact of the Ledug Sura tradition in Magetan, accompanied by Islamic teachings within it, ensures that the younger generation does not forget their customs and remains committed to their teachings. The conclusion of this research highlights the importance of Islamic teachings in customs, especially in Javanese culture in Magetan Regency, as well as the spread of its traditions

This study aimed to examine the psychological needs of substance abusers in Duhok City, Kurdistan Region of Iraq, using a mixed-methods approach to analyze 47 incarcerated individuals in the adult male and female reformatory of Duhok, and also collected official records from 2018 to 2024 related to substance convictions and individuals who visit health sectors with the intention of treatment. The assessment tools contained six psychological domains through semi-structured questionnaires to be analyzed for measuring the psychological needs. Participants reported significantly lower levels of psychological needs than expected (39.543 vs. 41.5, p < 0.05), with self-esteem being significantly affected and competence being less affected. Males reported stronger social bonds than females. Quantitative analysis revealed significant increases in substance-related convictions: adult males increased from 40 (2018) to 494 (2022) and 228 (from Jan to Jul 2024), totaling 1,830 convictions. The number of females who were convicted due to drugs is 138, while juvenile males recorded are 122, among 11–17-year-olds who are trafficking and consuming drugs. Treatment pathways have shown a shift from public to private health care. Azadi Hospital's cases have decreased from 160 (2019) to 90 in 2023 and only 20 (from Jan to Jul 2024), while private clinics treated over 1,000 patients annually. These findings highlight the urgent need for comprehensive psychological interventions that address low self-esteem, gender-specific programs, fill the psychological needs, and improve access to healthcare to address the region's worsening substance abuse crisis
