Post–Trent Council Exceeding the Boundaries of the Enclosure in St. George’s Convent at Prague Castle as the Confirmation of “Age-Old” Prestige
The article deals with the infringement of enclosure boundaries set by the Council of Trent, using the example of the Benedictine convent at St. George’s Basilica at Prague Castle (the 17th and the 18th centuries). It defines a few key moments when the exceeding of the boundaries was possible without the dispensation of a relevant ordinary officer. In the field of an active enclosure, it was mainly the participation of a St. George’s abbess in the coronations of Bohemians queens, in the case of a passive enclosure, the visits of the members of the ruling dynasty and the presence of official guests at the coronations of princessabbesses. In the case of female convents, similar runnings counter to Tridentinum conclusions do not probably have an equivalent parallel in the Czech lands, although some of them, but to a much smaller extent, can be found in the Prague Convent of the Discalced Carmelites. The article deals with the infringement of enclosure boundaries set by the Council of Trent, using the example of the Benedictine convent at St. George’s Basilica at Prague Castle (the 17th and the 18th centuries). COMPUTATIONAL MODEL OF THE AVIATION DIESEL ENGINE FOR HIL TESTING
This article deals with the development of a computational diesel engine model for the aerospace industry and HIL testing. The model is assembled from the blocks of own libraries in the Simulink software. To verify functionality, it was implemented on hardware for HIL testing, and responses to inputs generated by a simple real-time control algorithm were monitored. The aim was to verify and optimize the computational model for subsequent HIL testing with the prototype ECU
EVALUATION OF PARKING SITUATION IN PRESOV AND NITRA
This paper is about current state of parking problem in two different housing estates. We have done a traffic survey in housing estate Klokocina situated in city of Nitra and similar survey in housing estate Sekcov in Presov. We have counted cars, which parked on the streets and also parking spaces. City offices in both cities had given us the necessary documentation about numbers of registered cars and flats in these areas. The results from traffic survey are alarming. The car parks have insufficient capacity and many cars stop at forbidden or dangerous areas of the streets. This paper includes results, which were used as a base data for transport planning. We have focused on the most critical areas of housing estates, where the problem with parking was emerged
The Poetics of the Constructed Environment in J.G. Ballard’s High-Rise
This article analyses major constituents of the poetics of the constructed environment in James Graham Ballard’s novel High-Rise (1975). The novel’s high-rise is contextualised within the framework of contemporary architectural development as well as Ballard’s overall work, with its particular emphasis on novels dealing with prototypically modern urban constructions. The interpretation of Ballard’s narrative seeks to examine the chief aspects of the space of the tower block as well as the tenants’ response to it. The paper endeavours to highlight the author’s tendency to examine the interconnected relationships between humans and contemporary architectural structures in his fiction

Preacher and Bishop Heinrich von Wildenstein († 1409): Life of a Man Who Spoke at the Funeral of Charles IV
Heinrich von Wildenstein is known to have preached at the funeral of Charles IV in 1378, but there was no biographical study of this preacher until now. The paper focuses on portraying a life of the cleric, who maintained close contact with the papal curia in Avignon and Rome, who held three episcopal offices during his lifetime (in Krujä, Trieste and Pićan), and he also stayed in Bohemia in the 1370s. He is documented to have resided at the court of emperor Charles IV in Prague, as well as at the court of bishop Albert von Sternberg in East Bohemian town Litomyšl. The paper also tries to clarify a question of Heinrich‘s origin.Heinrich von Wildenstein is known to have preached at the funeral of Charles IV in 1378, but there was no biographical study of this preacher until now. The Anabaptist Physicians, Barber-Surgeons and Midwives in the 16th and 17th Century
The Anabaptist physicians, barbersurgeons and midwives played an important part in the medicine of the 16th and 17th century. They were required by both the Bohemian and Moravian nobility, regardless of their theological radicalism, for their skilfulness and for the increasing demand for physicians in the 16th century. In consequence of their longterm absence in the Anabaptist communities, caused by the travels to the noble patients, the physicians and barbersurgeons were predisposed to be independent and reluctant to submit to the order prevailing in the Anabaptist communities. Still, they belonged to the most prominent members of the fellowship. The Anabaptist midwives were, similarly to the physicians and barbersurgeons, demanded by the Moravian nobility, but for the lack of sources, the substance of the Anabaptist midwifery remains unknown. The Anabaptist physicians, barbersurgeons and midwives played an important part in the medicine of the 16th and 17th century. “Whenever I Had a Free Moment, I Was Writing Something.” The Works of Justina Siegemund in the Context of Female Natural-Scientific Writings of Early Modern History in German-Speaking Areas.
The study analyses four early modern scientific treatises from the German speaking regions written by women, namely the midwife Justina Siegemund, the astronomer Maria Cunitia, the entomologist Maria Sibylla Merian and the doctor Dorothea Christiana Erxleben. These female authors were rare phenomena in the fields of their interest, and they had to make considerable efforts to legitimize their research and publication activities. On the basis of comparison of their treatises the study tries to find out the potential existence of some patterns of “women’s writing” in the field of natural sciences in the Early Modern Period. The other question is to what degree did those patterns change over the period of hundred years which lays between the publication of the first and last of the analysed books. The study analyses four early modern scientific treatises from the German speaking regions written by women, namely the midwife Justina Siegemund, the astronomer Maria Cunitia, the entomologist Maria Sibylla Merian and the doctor Dorothea Christiana Erxleben. Rags and Junkwomen: from a Pension Offence to an Industrial Raw Material and Rubbish Women Collectors
A junkwoman/Lumpensammlerin ‒ a collector of waste rags, glass and bones appeared in the society in a broader context. Someone perceived her as a peculiar character of that time; others considered her to be the poorest being, and for the others she was a necessary labour force recycling solid municipal waste. Financial authorities were interested in her because she collected rags that were in a special customs regime and under official supervision. Permission to such work was issued by the district council, but a junkwoman ranked neither among tradeswomen nor doortodoor sellers. She became a subject matter for artists, journalists and cabaret performers.A junkwoman/Lumpensammlerin ‒ a collector of waste rags, glass and bones appeared in the society in a broader context. SAFETY MANAGEMENT SY STEM AS A TOOL FOR ASSURING THE SAFETY OF AIR T RANSPORT
Aviation safety is an essential aspect that determines the quality of air transport. Efforts to maintain the highest possible level of safety should be therefore the most important objective for all stakeholders in civil aviation. The paper deals with safety of air transport and the basic tool for maintaining the level of safety – safety management system
