    No full text
This chapter aims to share some reflections on the strength of black women. Which I have been building over the last 10 years, based on the pleasant approach to the Red de Mujeres del Norte del Cauca (Redmunorca), black feminist epistemologies and the recognition of my maternal/paternal peasant and Afro-indigenous ancestry linked to territory of Valle del Cauca and Cauca. I am based on the experience of accompanying Afro-descendant women and the return visits to the territory of Cauca - Colombia, during the years 2014 and 2015, within the framework of the research project Psychology and social peace initiatives in Colombia, of the PsicoPaz Research (2013- 2023). And also, in informal conversations with several of them between 2016 and 2024. I address the presence of feminine strength and the participation of black women in collective, ritual and festive spaces, as polyphonic expressions of resistance for transformation, collective action and spirituality/ancestry. I owe to this meeting the inspirations that mobilized this text that emerges to light today, to honor the ancestral black feminine strength.

    Territorio laboral capitalista

    No full text
This book uses territory as a gateway to understanding the form of class struggle in contemporary capitalism. Drawing on a critical account of authors in the Marxist tradition, such as Richards Edwards, Domingo Pérez Valenzuela analyzes the role that territory plays in class struggle, considering that every power relationship generates territoriality and that modern private enterprise, as a capitalist labor territory, is a fraction of geographic space where socio-material power relations between capital and labor emerge. Reviving Thompson and Briken's proposal not to separate political economy from labor relations, D. Pérez interweaves, throughout his reflection, the control of the labor process with territorial control, with the perspective of consolidating a geographic political economy of the labor process; a pending task, given that territorial control over the production process has been little studied

    Pharmacovigilance

    No full text
Pharmacovigilance or drug safety may be defined as a science that relates to the "collection, detection, assessment, monitoring, and prevention" of side/adverse effects of drugs. It is also essential to monitor for adverse effects even after a drug or therapy has been on the market for some time, as new ones may emerge. This book addresses several fundamental issues in three major sections well-presented in easy-to-understand formats. The authors of this book contributed the latest research, and each chapter has been reviewed and updated to enhance the book's educational value, clarity, and readability

    Entre désir et devoir

    No full text

Chapter 2 Ascriptivism, life forms, and recognition. On the social constitution of normativity

    No full text
This volume explores the importance of constitutivism for legal studies. Constitutivism is the view that the normative force, or authority, of practical reasons is grounded in principles, capacities, aims, or functions that are essential to, and thus constitutive of, agency. While the implications that the constitutivist approach has on the fundamental metaethical disputes and central ethical debates have been extensively explored, the literature on the relations between constitutivism and law remains scarce, unsystematic, and sporadic. This collection brings together world-renowned practical philosophers and legal theorists to fill a noticeable gap in the literature. The authors systematically and innovatively address key dimensions of the relationships between constitutivism and the theoretical study of law, as well as programmatically offering novel insights into the conceptual connections between constitutivist claims, fundamental legal concepts and practices, legal issues, and, ultimately, the law as a distinctive concept. The book will be of interest to academics and researchers working in the areas of Legal Philosophy, Legal Theory, Jurisprudence, Moral Philosophy and Metaethics

    Translating and Receiving Korean Media

    No full text
In recent years, Korean culture has been incredibly successful internationally, from the films of auteur directors like Bong Joon-Ho (Parasite) to shows like Squid Game and K-pop music. At the same time, media from the UK has also been successful in South Korea, with popular shows such as Killing Eve and Life on Mars. Written by scholars working across translation studies, film and media studies, this volume examines the ways in which Korean media has been received and translated in the UK, as well as how British media has fared in South Korea. Case studies explore how Korean media is (re)packaged and categorised for a Western audience, and how paratextual material (trailers, adverts, fan reactions) mediates films and shows for international audiences. The book also examines how the Korean remake of Life on Mars localises the British show, how Squid Game has been audio-described, and how slower media models can suggest more sustainable forms of consumption and distribution. Demonstrating how interdisciplinary research can shed light on different aspects of global media culture, this volume will be essential reading for scholars and students working on the translation and international media circulation. It will especially appeal to readers interested in the interactions between British and Korean media.
