Religion in the Market Era
No full textThis book aims to expand the limits of the social-scientific study of religion and define a coherent model of recent global transformations of religion, challenging the paradigm of secularisation and post-secularisation. Using a wide-ranging selection of case studies, including global Islam, post-Soviet Eastern Europe, and China, the author argues that since the 1980s, religion has been dramatically shaped around the world by neoliberalism and consumerism. Providing a global, macro-level history of how religion has changed in the past four decades, this book contends that the rise of economics as a dominant social sphere is central to understanding the ongoing changes in contemporary world religions

International Student Visibility
No full textThis book narrates the ubiquitous relationship that international students have with their destination community, asking why students are not part of these communities despite being visible actors not only as students but as neighbours and as workers in the service industries and the gig economy. This book examines international students living and working in Australia through a cultural and communications lens, bringing together almost a decade of interviews and online surveys. It provides insight into their transnational identities and social and cultural practices in real-world and digital spaces. Despite being an integral part of the ethnographic landscape of the places they occupy, this book argues that international students are often not an integrated part of the wider community. To remedy this, international students have found ways to explore and communicate their experiences as transient migrants in Australia. This book thus goes beyond canonical academic commentary on the international student experience – which often views them as vulnerable migrants – to suggest that students create a sense of community and belonging while providing the wider Australian public insights into the international student experience through the creative arts. This book will appeal to scholars, upper-level students, and researchers with interests in international and comparative education, sociology of education, urban education, cultural studies, migration studies, and youth studies

No full textProposer une réflexion sur les processus concomitants de développement agricole et de mise en œuvre de politiques environnementales au Brésil ; interroger l’invisibilité de pratiques agricoles derrière le « vert des cartes », malgré la reconnaissance des savoirs locaux et de droits territoriaux associés : tel est l’ambition du livre. Ce dernier s’appuie sur les résultats de vingt ans de recherches en Amazonie et dans le Cerrado. Observer les dynamiques des pratiques agropastorales dans ces espaces révèle des innovations techniques et sociospatiales, mais aussi le caractère sélectif des politiques socio-environnementales et leur rôle dans la production des marges. No full textThe fifth volume of the New Senfl Edition (NSE) provides the first scholarly editions of Senfl's newly dated Magnificat settings (composed around 1523), whose transmission exclusively in central Germany is presumably due to Luther's widespread interpretation of the text. In addition, the volume offers a new edition of Senfl's Mass Ordinaries, which now also contains a previously unknown mass, as well as an updated overview of the various performance possibilities with which Senfl conceived his masses. The volume offers numerous illustrations, as well as critical reports discussing each work, providing comprehensive information on the texts, plainchant models, an evaluation of the sources, as well as the context of the works' history.Der fünfte Band der Neuen Senfl-Ausgabe (NSE) bietet die ersten wissenschaftlichen Editionen von Senfls neu datierten Magnificat-Vertonungen (entstanden um 1523), deren Überlieferung ausschließlich in Mitteldeutschland vermutlich auf Luthers verbreitete Textauslegung zurückzuführen ist. Extensive and comprehensive atmospheric environment management practices have been carried out in countries around the world. At present, atmospheric environmental governance is entering a new stage of pollution reduction and carbon reduction. Remote sensing technology has the unique advantages of large temporal and spatial scope and low cost and has become an important means by which to quantitatively monitor atmospheric composition, reveal pollution mechanisms, and account for carbon emissions.
