Plenoptic Imaging and Processing
No full textThis open access book delves into the fundamental principles and cutting-edge techniques of plenoptic imaging and processing. Derived from the Latin words "plenus" (meaning "full") and "optic," plenoptic imaging offers a transformative approach to optical imaging. Unlike conventional systems that rely solely on the pinhole camera model to capture spatial information, plenoptic imaging aims to detect and reconstruct multidimensional and multiscale information from light rays in space. Chapter 1 begins with the introduction of the basic principle of the plenoptic function and the historical development of plenoptic imaging. Next, Chapter 2 describes representative plenoptic sensing systems, including single-sensor devices with lenslet arrays, coded-aperture masks, structured camera arrays, and unstructured camera arrays. Then, Chapter 3 introduces gigapixel plenoptic sensing techniques capable of capturing large-scale dynamic scenes with extremely high resolution. Further, chapter 4 examines typical plenoptic reconstruction methods, including light-field image reconstruction, image-based, and RGBD-based geometry reconstruction. After that, chapter 5 tackles the challenges of large-scale plenoptic reconstruction by introducing sparse-view priors, high-resolution observations, and semantic information. Finally, chapter 6 discusses the frontier issues of plenoptic processing, including the gigapixel-level video dataset PANDA and corresponding visual intelligent algorithms
Weirding Landscapes
No full textThis open access book investigates human-environment relations in the context of the anthropocenic Arctic. Through an archaeological and anthropological study of landscape, it wields “weirding” – a creative mode of engagement with the world – as a means of coming to terms with the stranger, experiential dimensions of a planet populated by diverse non-human entities often bearing monstrous characteristics. Such entities are exemplified by climate change itself, at once human-induced and a force of its own volition that maintains an elusive “presence” as a co-inhabitant of the Anthropocene. The book focuses on the landscape of Ritničohkka, a fjell in Sápmi, Finnish Lapland. Ritničohkka is erstwhile home to a diminutive “glacier”, whose “weird”, anomalous characteristics crowned the fjell until it several years ago melted into history. Taking a broadly autoethnographic approach, it considers perceptions of, and affective experiences in, this rough and relatively remote, “otherworldly” environment, discussing diverse ways of encountering and relating to the Arctic in the context of scientific fieldwork

No full textDas vorliegende Open-Access-Buch ist an der Schnittstelle der Didaktik der Politischen Bildung, der Bildung für nachhaltige Entwicklung und der empirischen Bildungsforschung verortet. Es wird der Frage nachgegangen, wie eine politische Urteilsbildung von Jugendlichen zu komplexen Problemstellungen einer nachhaltigen Entwicklung didaktisch unterstützt werden kann. Es wurde ein problem-, konflikt- sowie erfahrungsorientierter didaktischer Zugang, bei dem schulisches und außerschulisches Lernen miteinander kombiniert wurden, im Politikunterricht der gymnasialen Oberstufe im Rahmen einer Interventions- und Interviewstudie untersucht. Die Arbeit bietet Erkenntnisse zu didaktischen Anregungspotenzialen einer politischen Nachhaltigkeitsbildung in der Schule
