No full textThe widespread use of digital technologies and the rise of the information society bring about significant transformations and social changes that impact law and legal skills. In light of these extensive digital shifts permeating every facet of our society, this volume acknowledges the need for enhanced clarity and provides insights into a wide array of substantive and procedural legal issues. These include the international legal regulations governing state conducts in cyberspace, as well as matters related to the private realm of digitalization, where cross-border business transactions and personal rights alongside family matters present unique challenges and concerns. No full textDer vorliegende Band ist der erste einer Reihe, die zentrale Themen der Sprachwissenschaft einführend behandelt. Ziel ist, Studierenden bzw. am Phänomen Sprache interessierten Personen eine (weitere) Möglichkeit anzubieten, sich eigenständig mit grundlegenden Belangen des Untersuchungsgegenstandes auseinanderzusetzen. Der erste Teil betrachtet Sprache im Hinblick auf die allgemeinen Gegenstände dieser Welt. Es geht also um die Frage, welche Phänomene im Universum vorkommen, um auf diese Weise Klarheit darüber zu gewinnen, wie sich Sprache zu diesen verhält. Der zweite Teil behandelt Sprache unter dem Aspekt ihrer Evolution. Hier richtet sich der Fokus darauf, wie sich die menschliche Sprache entwickelt, was eigentlich das Besondere an ihr ist und wie sie sich von den Kommunikationsarten anderer Lebewesen auf diesem Planeten unterscheiden lässt

No full textThis volume is the result of a scientific collaboration between the Laboratory of Elites, Knowledge, and Cultural Institutions in the Mediterranean (LR 11 ES 28) of the University of Manouba (Tunisia), the FIDR Inter-University Research Center, and the University of Padua. It examines the phenomenon of extremism, which has been experienced by most human peoples and civilizations in its various forms, contents, and dimensions: historical, religious, political, and social. Based on historical experience, extremism has not only been founded on religious ideas (as is often the case today), but also on secular ideas in the past (the colonial phenomenon since the 19th century) and in the present (far-right movements in Europe and America). Since the 1970s, the phenomenon has entered a new phase, involving the use of organized violence for geopolitical and strategic reasons, from leftist movements to nationalist movements, as well as the currents of the “global jihad” (Al-Qaeda and its derivatives). During the second decade of this century, this phenomenon has expanded geographically and become more complex with the emergence of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (Africa and Europe). In this context, the research presented in this volume attempts to examine this phenomenon across the ages and to analyze its dimensions and origins using a comparative methodology

No full textThe here collected contributions relating to the 46th International Conference of the Representation Disciplines Teachers, organized jointly by Sapienza University of Rome, Roma Tre University, and San Raffaele Roma University, aim to offer the scientific community a reflection on the theoretical and methodological aspects related to the concept of èkphrasis, a term that, in the field of representation, concerns descriptive, analogical, and digital activities that generate new knowledge in several areas of application. The Conference aims to place at the center of the discussion an interpretation of the concept of research that, without neglecting an idea of study, protection, and enhancement of environmental and cultural heritage, focuses on the needs of contemporary society and its possible developments, making use of innovative theoretical, methodological, and operational activities, including those characterized by an interdisciplinary approach. According to this interpretation, research can also be seen as a foreshadowing of the definition and testing of experimental proposals aimed at exploring new areas of investigation: this opens up imaginative and utopian perspectives in the relationship between the sciences, the arts, and the disciplines that contribute to common goals, through the experimentation of methods, techniques, and languages for conceiving, prefiguring, designing, and representing
