Interculturele competentie in het universitair onderwijs in Nederlands als vreemde taal
No full textThe value of intercultural competence in everyday life is undeniable. It expands our cognitive horizons, fosters openness to others, and enables us to recognize and critically analyze cultural differences and similarities. In foreign language teaching, intercultural reflection contributes to a deeper understanding of cultural and linguistic diversity in the modern world. This study focuses on strengthening intercultural skills in the teaching of Dutch as a foreign language. Using a mixed methodology, Mikołaj Buczak investigates how many bachelor's students in Dutch Studies at the University of Wrocław, Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, and John Paul II Catholic University in Lublin develop their intercultural competence. He also examines how this development is supported during practical Dutch courses at these Polish universities. The results offer insight into the role of the intercultural component within the complex context of international Dutch Studies

No full textIn the historical period between the last decades of the thirteenth century and the first half of the fourteenth century, famine was one of the basic forms of inequality; in the economic systems of those times, which were largely characterized by the presence of the market and the circulation of money, its appearance, in its true sense of an increase in the prices of human food, and in particular those of cereals, prevented access to the market for all those who did not have sufficient income or any other right to food. At the same time, the increase in the price of agricultural products was also a sign of an economic crisis. All of this gave rise to great inequalities and very serious social conflicts, which the political authorities sought to control by means of special offices responsible for monitoring the continuity of food supplies to urban markets. The essay examines how all these economic and political changes took place in the city of Rome and in the territory from which the necessary agricultural products were imported

No full textWastewater treatment has evolved over the past thirty years, shifting from merely designing systems for discharging into natural water bodies, such as activated sludge and trickling filters, to addressing broader human health concerns such as recycling wastewater, tackling poor waste treatment, and implementing pollution prevention. This reprint, encompassing 13 papers, delves into challenges and innovations in wastewater treatment, sustainability, and contamination management. Research highlights include E. coli dynamics in septic tank storage and fecal coliform concerns in effluent-dominated streams, emphasizing public health. Source-separation sanitation concepts offer ecological and economic benefits. Studies reveal microbial community shifts due to aeration and tetracycline, while CO2 emissions from rainwater and reclaimed water use are examined for carbon-conscious planning. Flocculation advances enhance pollutant removal efficiency, and unconventional technologies target pharmaceuticals such as lidocaine. Innovations extend to biosorbents such as fungal biomass for dye removal, TiO2-modified filters, and high-rate anaerobic processes for agro-food wastewater. No full textThe monograph presents responsibilities, competences and the procedure before the Special Highest Court (SHC) and defines the constitutional position of this body in the Constitution of Greece. SHC is a judicial authority with special jurisdiction in the Greek legal system. It is included in the bodies of constitutional protection, and its role goes beyond the function of the constitutional court. In addition to the analysis of normative acts, the monograph presents the theses of the most important judgments issued by the SHC.PublishedW monografii przedstawiono zadania, kompetencje i tryb postępowania przed Najwyższym Sądem Specjalnym (NSS) oraz określono pozycję ustrojową tego organu na gruncie greckiej konstytucji. NSS stanowi organ władzy sądowniczej o szczególnej właściwości w greckim porządku prawnym. Jest zaliczany do organów ochrony konstytucji, a jego rola wykracza poza funkcję sądu konstytucyjnego. Oprócz analizy aktów normatywnych w pracy zaprezentowano również tezy z najważniejszych orzeczeń wydanych przez NSS

No full textWie verändert sich das Arbeiten und Lernen des Bildungspersonals in der Beruflichen Bildung, Erwachsenenbildung und Hochschulbildung unter den Bedingungen der digitalen Transformation? Diese Frage steht im Zentrum der Monografie, die aus einer erziehungs- und bildungswissenschaftlichen Perspektive eruiert, inwiefern sich die Konzepte von New Work und New Learning als Deutungsrahmen für die tiefgreifenden Veränderungsprozesse eignen. Die Monografie verbindet dabei einen historischen Blick auf die Diskurse um New Work und New Learning, ein Literaturreview sowie qualitative Studienergebnisse. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass sich das Arbeiten und Lernen des Bildungspersonals zunehmend durch flexible Strukturen und individuelle Gestaltung auszeichnet. Lernprozesse nehmen häufiger die Form kurzfristigen, problemorientierten Lernens an und erfordern neue Kompetenzen. Zugleich gewinnen kollaborative und erfahrungsbasierte Lernformen an Relevanz, insbesondere in organisationsübergreifenden Netzwerken. Diese Entwicklungen sind von Suchbewegungen geprägt - nach Orientierung, nach pädagogischen Praktiken, nach einem veränderten professionellen Selbstverständnis und nach ambidextren organisationalen Strukturen, die Suchprozesse unterstützen. Die Monografie bietet Einblicke in diese Suche und leistet so einen Beitrag zu Fragen der Transformation pädagogischer Professionalität und Professionalisierung im digitalen Wandel. Latest Research in Post-COVID (Long COVID)
No full textCoronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has undeniably led to the worst worldwide healthcare outbreak of the twenty-first century. Our understanding of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2 virus), the agent that causes COVID-19, has dramatically improved over the past several years. Currently, healthcare systems are facing another COVID-19 outbreak in the form of long COVID or post-COVID-19 syndrome—that is, the development and presence of long-lasting symptoms after an acute SARs-CoV-2 infection. To date, more than 100 potential long-lasting post-COVID symptoms have been attributed to SARS-COV-2. This Special Issue, which is entitled “Latest Research in Post-COVID (Long-COVID): Pathological and Treatment Studies of Sequelae and Complications” as part of the journal Biomedicines, focuses on potential gaps regarding the identification, timeframe, mechanisms, and treatment strategies associated with the management of this post-COVID-19 condition. The issue includes fourteen published papers covering the following topics: (1) treatment of this post-COVID-19 condition; (2) neonatal repercussions of SARS-CoV-2 infection; (3) risk factors of severe COVID-19; (3) phenotyping of post-COVID pain; and (5) other topics
