    Food plays a major part in shaping human–animal relations, from nurturing farm and zoo animals to bringing wild birds into suburban gardens. Food-mediated interactions create personal interspecies bonds, enrich and alter environments, change species distributions, enable new relationships and reconfigure social perspectives, but also lead to many concerns over health and disease, for example, as well as conflicts over spaces and resources. However, previous attention has almost exclusively focused on the purpose-driven, utilitarian and economic aspects of feeding, rather than the affective and emotional encounters that motivate many feeding practices. Presenting new research and interdisciplinary case studies, The Hand that Feeds considers animal feeding from historic to modern times. The volume explores the nuances and complexity of non-utilitarian feeding relationships, across urban and rural divides, in the wild, on the farm, at the zoo and in the garden, and how our feeding relationships have altered animal distributions and behaviours. The authors scrutinise contrasts between which species are promoted and which are persecuted, and how the species we choose to feed reflects broader world views and cultural values.     The Military Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (MSOTL) field offers meaningful methods for educators to advocate for evidence-informed teaching, learning, and curriculum development on a global scale. The chapters included in this edited volume highlight such practices and measures and, in doing so, create the kind of educational synergy that has been the hallmark of the MSOTL community since its first informal gathering in 2019. This initiative expanded the traditional SOTL emphasis on/by civilian universities to create space for a military perspective in this growing field. This edited volume represents a further broadening of the relevance and applicability of the scholarship of teaching and learning for the military educator. The chapters illustrate a unique set of academic disciplines (ranging from meteorology to military history), methodologies (qualitative and quantitative), and learning levels (ranging from the community colleges to top-level schools). The volume connects WP with emerging approaches such as the water-energy-food nexus, sustainable food systems, and the circular economy.     Die Dimension des Künstlerischen ist bisher kaum Gegenstand musikpädagogischer Reflexion. Trotzdem ist sie, wie Matthias Handschick und Wolfgang Lessing nachweisen, für die Initiierung und Moderation gestalterischer Prozesse von erheblicher Bedeutung. Anhand von vier kooperativen Kompositionsprojekten an Schulen zeigen sie, wie um Kriterien und Konzeptionalisierungen des Künstlerischen gerungen wird und sich bestehende Vorstellungen dabei verändern und schärfen. Dabei stellt sich heraus: Als inneres Gravitationszentrum, das musikpädagogisches Handeln nachhaltig prägt, lässt sich das Künstlerische kaum durch alternative Konstrukte ersetzen – auch dort nicht, wo es sich einer konsensfähigen Bestimmung entzieht

    This volume addresses the complexities of service delivery to migrants in irregular or marginalized situations, to persons with diverse linguistic, cultural or religious backgrounds, and to those who need navigational assistance to reach the services they need. Barriers in service access are generated in the interaction between organizations and their most disadvantaged groups of users. Healthcare services that are accessible to migrating populations reinforce their autonomy and are in the best interest of all. The case study, which was conducted from 2017 to 2020, is based at the San Maurizio hospital of Bozen-Bolzano, the largest hospital in South Tyrol, a multilingual and autonomous province in Northern Italy bordering Austria and Switzerland. It explores the agency of healthcare practitioners in shaping accessible services when attentive to patient needs, connected to national advocacy networks, and supported by hospital administration. With this study the author hopes to provide a broad view of this transdisciplinary field of study and practice and to offer a roadmap for practitioners who may play a role as brokers of accessible services in healthcare organizations

    For over forty years, William Head on Stage (WHoS) has operated as an inmate-run prison theatre, making it one of Canada’s longest-standing prison arts initiatives. Staging Prison Theatre in Canada: Setting the Spotlight on William Head on Stage delves into the story of WHoS through the voices of the men involved, offering a unique criminological perspective that situates their experiences within the prison context. The analysis explores how WHoS creates an alternative space within the social and emotional realities of incarceration. By unlocking participants’ capacities, skills, and confidence, the initiative fosters a sense of agency and community both inside the prison and beyond. WHoS becomes a space for transformation, offering men opportunities to re-imagine themselves and build meaningful connections. This work underscores the broader significance of arts-based initiatives like WHoS, not only within prisons but also in the fields of criminology, theatre, and community engagement. It offers valuable insights for correctional administrators, criminologists, theatre practitioners, scholars, students, and anyone interested in the intersection of art and rehabilitation
