Diversity and ecology of Australian dinosaurs with insights into dental ecomorphology
The following dataset contains all of the data used within chapters 2-6 of my thesis. The dataset contains numerous types of data including: 3D models, R code, biomechanical (Finite Elemental Analysis) analysis files and all associated models, microwear imagery (solely chapter 4). The data also includes field specimen information and where those specimens are housed, geological thin section imagery, and the associated google earth and field note files. Specifics on what each folder has is presented below:

Chapter 2 contains all information needed for the published article on an ankylosaur from Queensland. Includes synchrotron scans and microCT scans, as well as the associated mimics files and 3D PDF's of the models created. 

Chapter 3 contains all files relevant to the field project at Surat, Queensland. It contains microCT models and associated data, fieldnotes, fossil location data (Google Earth), geological thin section imagery, and a list of all collected specimens and where they are housed at UNE.

Chapter 4 contains microwear imagery of Lightning Ridge sauropod teeth taken using the scanning electron microscope at UNE.

Chapter 5 contains a large datasheet of sauropod tooth measurements and the associated R scripts.

Chapter 6 contains 3D models of Australian sauropod teeth from Queensland and all associated biomechanical models and files utilised within this study
It’s not about the bike: a holistic view of the lifelong benefits of sport
Internationally Australia is known as a ‘sporting nation’ and holds both a rich history and tradition in sport. Despite this reputation, much of Australia’s sporting culture is grounded in youth grassroots sport participation or international elite level performance. Typically, such culture can contribute to views that participation in sport is framed upon physical benefits such as the performance of skills, winning, and elitism. The purpose of this presentation is to dispel views pertaining to physical pursuits and competition as the pinnacle endeavours of sport. Evidence will be presented to substantiate and advocate the holistic benefits of sport especially, mentally, socially and emotionally. Our research draws upon the Australian Masters Games and a regional Australian program for newly-arrived migrants that used sport as a vehicle to build social inclusion, promote holistic health and enjoyment of movement across the lifespan. We demonstrate how underrepresented populations such as older adults and migrant groups can obtain these benefits throughout life and thrive. Ultimately, participation in sport is about so much more than the bike and should be viewed as a recreational activity for all
Ketamine for treatment-resistant obsessive-compulsive disorder: Double-blind active-controlled crossover study
Background: Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) may respond to ketamine treatment. Aim: To examine the responsiveness and tolerability of treatment-refractory OCD to intramuscular (IM) ketamine compared to IM fentanyl. Methods: This was a randomised double-blind psychoactive-controlled study with single doses of racemic ketamine 0.5mg/kg, 1.0mg/kg or fentanyl 50µg (psychoactive control). Pre-dosing with 4mg oral ondansetron provided nausea prophylaxis. Eligible participants were aged between 18 and 50 years with severe treatment-resistant OCD. The primary efficacy measure was the Yale-Brown Obsessive-Compulsive Scale (Y-BOCS). Tolerability was measured with the Clinician-Administered Dissociative States Scale (CADSS). Repeated measures analysis of variance with orthogonal polynomial trends was used to assess the effect of drug treatment on Y-BOCS and CADSS scores. Results: Twelve participants were randomised and 10 completed the study (7 females, 3 males, mean age 33years). Two participants dropped out due to not tolerating dissociative effects associated with the study medication. The reductions in Y-BOCS scores were greater and statistically dose-related for both ketamine doses than fentanyl (dose [linear], F(1, 9) =6.5, p=0.031). Score changes for all treatments were maximal at 1–2h with a steady separation of scores out to 168h. Ketamine was associated with short-term dissociative and cardiovascular effects. Conclusions: We provide further preliminary evidence for the efficacy and tolerability of IM ketamine in an outpatient cohort of OCD. Additional work is required to establish the optimal dosing regimen and longer-term role of ketamine for OCD. These findings are encouraging given the well-known limitations that exist for treatments in this area
Impact of COVID-19 on the food safety practices of food insecured individuals: interruption of the interdependence food safety and food security association
Objective: The objective of this study was to identify the indirect impact of COVID-19 on the food safety of individuals potentially experiencing a food security crisis. 

Methods: Structured food safety questions were formed for the food safety practice assessment and standardized “Food Insecurity Experience Scale” questions were used to assess individuals’ food insecurity experience. The food safety items were taken as dependent variables (effect to be tested), and the food insecurity items were taken as independent variables (the cause that determines the impact). Ordinal logistic regression using the Polytomous Universal Model (PLUM) was used for inferential analysis.

Conclusions: COVID-19 has improved the food safety practices of individuals, yet detrimentally impacted their food security. As a result, encouraging the sustainability of optimal food safety practices, planning and implementing food security resilience strategies, establishing emergency preparedness taskforces, taking lessons from COVID-19, and being prepared for future pandemics are recommended
How do different portrayals of childbirth on social media influence fear of childbirth and birth preferences in nulliparous pregnant women?
The submitted dataset was used in the Honours thesis, “Birthing in the Age of Social Media: The Influence of Social Media Content on Fear of Childbirth and Obstetric Preferences During Pregnancy.” The dataset contains three files, including the cleaned jamovi data file, jamovi output, and final manifest content analysis structure. All data was collected anonymously using Qualtrics. The jamovi data file contains the survey responses of 407 participants who were first-time (or nulliparous) Australian pregnant women. Respondents indicated their socio-demographic details, obstetric details and preferences, fear towards childbirth using the Fear of Birth Scale (FOBS), estimated social media use, and the five most frequently seen features within childbirth-related social media content. A total of 348 respondents were retained for the final analysis which was performed using jamovi. The jamovi output includes descriptive statistics, a two-tailed independent samples t-test, two chi-square tests of independence, and additional post-hoc analysis. The dataset also includes the final meaning units, codes, subcategories, and categories generated from the manifest content analysis performed on open-text responses. Open-text responses listed additional features seen within childbirth-related content that were not listed in the survey options
Adding non-floral resources increases wild insect abundance but not yield in Australian hybrid carrot crops
Many insect pollinator-dependent crops heavily rely on managed honey bees for pollination, yet flies and other wild taxa can be highly abundant and efficient, thus having potential as complementary pollinators. However, unlike bees, fly pollinator life history requirements and foraging behaviour are often unsupported in agroecosystems, or completely unknown. We aimed to determine the effectiveness of different non-floral resources in attracting fly pollinators and supporting their life history requirements, and whether higher fly abundance would result in improved seed yield in hybrid carrot crops. We introduced three decomposing organic resources (carrion, manure, and carrot plant material) to four commercial carrot farms in Northern Tasmania, Australia and sampled fly activity on carrot umbels around each treatment. In total, we recorded 46 adult insect species visiting carrot umbels across all treatments, consisting of 32 Diptera (flies), eight Coleoptera (beetles), four Hymenoptera (bees, wasps and ants), and two Hemiptera (true bugs). We collected 10 fly species and one beetle species as larvae from the resources. Both the carrion and carrot treatments supported five different larval species, while the manure supported two. Only Lucilia sericata, Australophyra rostrata, and Oxysarcodexia varia were more abundant on carrot umbels around treatments compared to the control, and seed yield around the treatments did not differ to the control. Our results suggest that the inclusion of non-floral resources can fulfill the life history requirements of flies in agroecosystems. However, determining whether the addition of non-floral resources also results in increased yield, requires further investigation
Effects of Feeding Methionine Hydroxyl Analogue Chelated Zinc, Copper, and Manganese on Growth Performance, Nutrient Digestibility, Mineral Excretion, and Welfare Conditions of Broiler Chickens: Part 2: Sustainability and Welfare Aspects
This study investigated the effects of the dietary supplementation of mineral methionine hydroxyl analogue chelates (MMHACs) zinc (Zn), copper (Cu), and manganese (Mn) on excreta nitrogen and mineral levels, housing conditions, and the welfare status of broilers. Three-hundred eighty-four day-old Ross 308 male chicks were randomly distributed to four dietary treatments, each consisting of eight replicate pens of twelve birds per pen. The treatments were (1) inorganic trace mineral ZnSO4 (110 ppm), CuSO4 (16 ppm), and MnO (120 ppm) (ITM); (2) MMHAC Zn (40 ppm), Cu (10 ppm), and Mn (40 ppm) (M10); (3) inorganic trace mineral ZnSO4 (110 ppm), tribasic copper chloride (125 ppm), and MnO (120 ppm) (T125); and (4) MMHAC Zn (40 ppm), Cu (30 ppm), and Mn (40 ppm) (M30). Three feeding phases including the starter (days 0–10), grower (days 10–21), and finisher (days 21–42) were used. The findings showed that birds offered MMHACs at both levels had significantly lower Zn and Mn levels, and birds offered the T125 diet had higher Cu levels in the excreta compared to those fed the other diets on days 10, 16, 21, 28, and 42 (
Right-to-Repair, Product Durability and Obsolescence: A Legal Perspective
A growing worldwide consensus is that action is required to improve product durability. Equipment such as motor vehicles, farm and construction equipment, and consumer products have become more sophisticated, as have the cost and complexity of repairs. Manufacturers may restrict access to repair manuals, software upgrades and spare parts. Alternatively, the product design may preclude ready access to undertake repairs. The article explores the concepts of right-to-repair, product durability and obsolescence, and the protection of consumer rights. The European Union (EU) is arguably at the forefront of the consumer protection movement. It has introduced many initiatives that have been adopted, wholly or in part, by nations worldwide. The key EU initiatives in response to the "right-to-repair and "product durability and obsolescence" movements are described and analyzed. It was found that the EU initiatives and legislation are consumer-centric and provide a template for such legislation in other jurisdictions. One area of the EU initiatives that should be addressed is surrounding product recycling. As far as possible, sellers, producers and specialist recycling companies should be prohibited from exporting their waste to another country and must meet the best workplace safety and environmental protection practices. As recommended by the EU, governments should encourage the reuse of products and the setting up of systems promoting repair and reuse activities. Finally, the authors recommend an enhanced research program to allow the recycling of consumer "waste" on an industrial scale
Advancements in Medicinal Plant Identification Using Deep Learning Techniques: A Comprehensive Review
Deep learning has emerged as a transformative approach in medicinal plant identification, addressing the critical need for accurate and scalable solutions to support biodiversity conservation, traditional medicine, and sustainable healthcare practices. This systematic literature review examines 30 papers on deep learning for medicinal plant identification, revealing diverse approaches across global contexts. Convolutional neural networks emerge as the primary technique, achieving high accuracy, particularly with leaf-based identification. Data collection methods vary, with manual fieldwork predominating. The review highlights challenges in scaling to larger species sets and using crowdsourced data, though strategies like data augmentation show promise. Plant state and maturity impact model performance, warranting further investigation. The geographical distribution of studies emphasises the global relevance of this research, with India and China contributing the most. Mobile applications offer potential for deployment and data collection but lack robust user feedback mechanisms for model refinement. The review identifies gaps in continuous model updating and suggests exploring incremental and zero-shot learning. Overall, the field shows promise but requires more balanced datasets and context-aware approaches to maximise real-world impact in medicinal plant identification
Measuring What Outcomes Matters Most to People When Accessing Suicide Postvention Support: A Qualitative Study
Funding for suicide postvention services, which provide support after a suicide death, has increased in Australia and globally. This rise accompanies a need to demonstrate outcomes of support. However, articulating and quantifying these outcomes presents ethical and logistical challenges. Funders' priorities may differ from those of service users. To discern the value and explore effective measurement of postvention outcomes, focus groups were conducted with postvention staff and lived experience representatives from an Australian postvention service. Transcripts were analysed using Braun and Clarke’s Reflexive Thematic Analysis. Results highlighted the complex context of measuring outcomes in suicide postvention and emphasized the need for flexible approaches to service provision and outcome measurement. The study suggests that the most significant benefits, as perceived by participants, are the ‘fow-on’ effects of postvention. It supports the notion that outcome measures require careful consideration, with trade-offs evaluated to understand what is truly valuable in suicide postvention services
