Produção textual colaborativa entre IH e IAG: Uma experiência com o Story.com
Full text linkIn the digital age, access to various platforms and media has expanded the ways teaching and learning interactions extend beyond the traditional classroom. This shift is driven by multimodal language practices that transcend physical boundaries and establish multiple connections, including those between humans and machines. This article explores a collaborative text production experience involving Human Intelligence (HI) and Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI) through the Story.com platform. The experience was conducted in a multiliteracy workshop with a mixed-grade class of 4th and 5th-year students at a public school in rural Mossoró, Brazil. Theoretically and methodologically grounded in sociocultural literacy studies (Kleiman, 2005; Oliveira, 2008; Tinoco, 2008), multiliteracies pedagogy (Kalantzis; Cope; Pinheiro, 2020) and Applied Linguistics (Scheifer; Rego, 2020), this qualitative study analyzes a data excerpt focusing on collaborative writing initially between two students, and subsequently between them and the Story.com platform. The findings indicate that collaboration writing between HI and GAI requires iterative prompt creation for story generation, the development of reading practices and critical analysis of the generated versions, and the ongoing refinement of the multimodal story. We conclude that the use of GAI can enable the development of multimodal artifacts, such as multimodal texts, thereby contributing to the expansion of text production in contemporary settings.O processo de ensino e aprendizagem na era da cultura digital, com acesso a diferentes plataformas e mídias, tem ampliado formas de interação para além do espaço escolar. Isso é possível porque práticas multimidiáticas de linguagem transpõem limites físicos e estabelecem múltiplas conexões, inclusive entre seres humanos e máquinas. Cientes disso, neste artigo, objetivamos analisar uma experiência de produção textual colaborativa entre Inteligência Humana (IH) e Inteligência Artificial Generativa (IAG) com o uso da plataforma Story.com. Essa experiência foi desenvolvida em uma oficina de multiletramentos com uma turma multisseriada de 4o e 5o anos de uma escola pública na zona rural de Mossoró/Rio Grande do Norte/Brasil. Fundamentado teórico-metodologicamente nos estudos de letramento de vertente sociocultural (Kleiman, 2005; Oliveira, 2008; Tinoco, 2008), na pedagogia de multiletramentos (Kalantzis; Cope; Pinheiro, 2020) e na Linguística Aplicada (Scheifer; Rego, 2020), este artigo de base qualitativa analisa um recorte de dados que focaliza a escrita colaborativa entre dois estudantes, inicialmente, e, depois, entre eles e o Story.com. Os resultados dessa análise sinalizam que a escrita colaborativa entre IH e IAG requer a elaboração de sucessivos prompts para a geração dos contos, o desenvolvimento de práticas de leitura e análise crítica das versões produzidas e o processual refinamento do conto multimodal. Sendo assim, compreendemos que o uso da IAG pode possibilitar o desenvolvimento de artefatos multimidiáticos, como textos multimodais, contribuindo para a ampliação da produção textual na contemporaneidade
“Respeite meus cabelos, brancos!”: como o racismo algorítmico atua em bancos de imagens digitais
No full textThis study aims to highlight how algorithmic racism manifests itself in digital image banks, particularly in representations of female beauty. It is a qualitative-quantitative and exploratory research, grounded in the concept of algorithmic racism and its relationship with structural racism, artificial intelligence, and data coloniality. For the analysis, the three main stock image websites used in Brazil were selected—Shutterstock, Getty Images, and Canva—based on searches for the keywords “beauty,” “skin care,” and “hair beauty.” From this dataset, content analysis was applied to the first results displayed by the platforms themselves, considering that such selections are determined by algorithms. The analyses show that most of the collected images depict white women with straight hair, contrary to the mixed-race reality and Black majority of the Brazilian population. These findings underscore the need to rethink how algorithms operate and their social—and especially racial—implications. Furthermore, it is essential to broaden the debate on media representations that perpetuate erasures and symbolic violence, as demonstrated here through algorithmic racism.O presente trabalho tem como objetivo apontar como o racismo algorítmico se manifesta em bancos de imagens digitais, especialmente nas representações sobre beleza feminina. Trata-se de uma pesquisa quali-quantitativa e exploratória, ancorada no conceito de racismo algorítmico e em sua relação com racismo estrutural, inteligência artificial e colonialidade de dados. Para a análise, escolheram-se os três principais sites de banco de imagens utilizados no Brasil: Shutterstock, Getty Images e Canva, a partir da busca das palavras-chave “beleza”, “skin care” e “beleza cabelo”. Desse universo, foi aplicada a análise de conteúdo sobre os primeiros resultados apresentados pelas próprias plataformas, considerando que tais escolhas são feitas por algoritmos. As análises mostram que a maioria das imagens coletadas são de mulheres brancas e de cabelos lisos, na contramão da realidade miscigenada e de maioria negra no país. Esses achados evidenciam a necessidade de repensar o funcionamento dos algoritmos e suas relações sociais e, principalmente, raciais. Além disso, acredita-se ser indispensável ampliar o debate sobre as representações midiáticas que sustentam apagamentos e violências simbólicas, demonstrados, aqui, pelo racismo algorítmico
Agência crítica em Linguística Aplicada: negociações a partir de sobrevivências e reexistências no contexto brasileiro
Full text linkThe initial aim of this article is to present a historical overview of critical studies in the field of Applied Linguistics, recognising how the transgressive nature of these studies has influenced research into languages and literacies in the Brazilian context. It then argues in favour of the importance of ethnography as an indispensable contextual practice for the construction of research that claims to be critical in this field. In this scenario, investigations into survival and reexistence in the context of Brazilian Applied Linguistics emerge as plausible inspirations for a truly critical academic approach. To support this assertion, we turn to scenes from two relevant works in the field, endeavours in which the researchers seek to build horizontal and collaborative relationships with the participants in their investigations. The analyses of these scenes show the importance of ethnographic contact so that the negotiations between the literacy agents involved can enable a shared construction of knowledge, capable of democratising it and making it accessible and relevant to the research participants, who are the effective co-constructors of each of these works, and their communities.O presente trabalho tem como propósito inicial fazer um apanhado histórico dos estudos críticos no âmbito da Linguística Aplicada, reconhecendo como o caráter transgressivo desses estudos influenciou e impactou as investigações sobre linguagens e sobre letramentos no contexto brasileiro. Em seguida, argumenta-se em favor da importância da etnografia como prática contextual indispensável para a construção de pesquisas que se pretendem críticas no campo já mencionado. Nesse cenário, investigações sobre sobrevivência e reexistência no contexto da Linguística Aplicada brasileira emergem como inspirações plausíveis relacionadas a um fazer acadêmico crítico de fato. Para sustentar essa afirmação, recorre-se a cenas de dois trabalhos relevantes do campo, empreitadas em que pesquisadores buscam construir relações horizontais e colaborativas com os participantes de suas pesquisas. As análises dessas cenas tornam evidentes a importância de um contato etnográfico longitudinal para que negociações entre os agentes de letramentos envolvidos viabilizem uma construção compartilhada de conhecimentos, capaz de democratizá-los e de torná-los acessíveis e relevantes também para os participantes das pesquisas, efetivos co-construtores de cada um desses trabalhos, e para as suas comunidades
Movimento Negro Educador, saberes emancipatórios e a construção de um projeto democrático
Full text linkThis article resumes the discussion about the emancipatory knowledge constructed by the black population, systematized, redefined and disseminated by the Educator Black Movement. Among them, political, identity, aesthetic-corporeal, intersectional and indignation knowledge stand out. The pedagogical and political strength of this social movement and its impact on the process of education and re-education of the State, its institutions, society itself and itself are recognized. This process reflects the continuous action of the Educator Black Movement to transform power structures and redefine ethnic-racial relations. The separation of knowledge presented throughout the article is a didactic and argumentative resource, since, in social life, they manifest themselves in an intertwined and interdependent way. Depending on the context and circumstances in which they operate, some may stand out more than others. Finally, it is argued that the emancipatory knowledge built by the Educator Black Movement in the struggles for democracy proposes a project for a nation that recognizes and values diversity, a project that does not remain silent in the face of racism, that fights for equity, justice and human rights, that rejects the class division imposed by capitalism and that reinforces the importance of a democratic State and the rule of law truly committed to social transformation.Este artigo retoma a discussão sobre os saberes emancipatórios construídos pela população negra, sistematizados, ressignificados e disseminados pelo Movimento Negro Educador. Entre eles, destacam-se os saberes políticos, identitários, estético-corpóreos, interseccionais e da indignação. Reconhece-se a força pedagógica e política desse movimento social e seu impacto no processo de educação e reeducação do Estado, de suas instituições, da própria sociedade e de si mesmo. Esse processo reflete a atuação contínua do Movimento Negro Educador na transformação das estruturas de poder e na ressignificação das relações étnico-raciais. A separação dos saberes apresentada ao longo do artigo é um recurso didático e argumentativo, pois, na vida social, eles se manifestam de forma imbricada e interdependente. Dependendo do contexto e das circunstâncias em que operam, alguns podem se sobressair mais do que outros. Por fim, discute-se que os saberes emancipatórios construídos pelo Movimento Negro Educador nas lutas pela democracia propõem um projeto de nação que reconheça e valorize a diversidade, um projeto que não se cale diante do racismo, que lute por equidade, justiça e direitos humanos, que rejeite a divisão classista imposta pelo capitalismo e que reforce a importância de um Estado democrático e de direito verdadeiramente comprometido com a transformação social
O discurso digital reportado em uma perspectiva enunciativa benvenistiana no ecossistema Twitter (X)
Full text linkThis article aims to analyze how some forms of marked heterogeneity, especially the reported discourse in the digital environment, begin to integrate the resources that speakers have to communicate and enable interaction through texts in these environments. We investigated the reported discourse in the Twitter (X) ecosystem in a tweet made by the Folha de S. Paulo's account (@folha). From a Textual Linguistics perspective, the discussion is based on hypotheses and methodologies of Digital Discourse Analysis, on Authier-Revuz’s reflections and on Benveniste’s theory. Qualitative in nature, the analysis consisted of the following steps: (i) description of the data generated by the tweets; (ii) compliance with the incidence of clickable elements based on enunciative non-linear reading; (iii) identification of language resources and elements; and (iv) conclusions on what we could observe. The analysis highlights that the formal apparatus of enunciation incorporates technological resources to handle enunciative and textual functions. This compositionality is constructed by multisemiotic language, including digital technology and always considering the participants interaction. We conclude that regarding the formal apparatus of enunciation, in the digital environment, there are specific ways of carrying out the discourse. The I and the you find representation in resources such as @ and hyperlinks.Este artigo visa analisar como algumas formas de heterogeneidade marcada, especialmente o discurso reportado no ambiente digital, passam a integrar os recursos de que os falantes dispõem para se comunicar e possibilitam a interação por meio de textos nesses ambientes. Para isso, investigamos o discurso reportado no ecossistema Twitter (X) em um tuíte feito pela conta da Folha de S. Paulo (@folha). Por uma perspectiva da Linguística Textual, a discussão é feita a partir de hipóteses e metodologias da Análise do Discurso Digital, da reflexão de Authier-Revuz e da teoria de Benveniste. De caráter qualitativo, a análise consistiu nas seguintes etapas: (i) descrição dos tuítes dos dados gerados; (ii) observância da incidência de elemento clicável a partir da deslinearização enunciativa; (iii) identificação dos recursos e elementos linguageiros; e (iv) conclusão a partir do que observamos. A análise evidenciou que o aparelho formal da língua incorpora os recursos tecnológicos para dar conta de funções enunciativas e textuais. Essa composicionalidade do texto é construída por linguagem multissemiótica, em que incluímos a tecnologia digital e sempre considerando a interação entre os participantes. Concluímos, no que diz respeito ao aparelho formal da enunciação no ambiente digital, que há formas específicas de realizar a alocução. #Etarismo (feminino): alteridade e outrização na plataforma online Instagram
Full text linkThis article seeks, based on #ageism on Instagram, to analyze, given Bakhtin's assumptions, the speeches made by famous women in the media on this topic, in the year 2023, as well as the appreciation expressed in the responses expressed, essentially the negative ones, raised by these speeches. To do this, we use the concepts of Dialogical Discourse Analysis (ADD) as a theoretical-methodological foundation, mainly on alterity between subjects, such as studies related to gender and ageism. Given this issue, the idea of social media platforms allowing the emergence of this natural feminine reality was put forward as hypotheses, revealing the prejudice against aging. Furthermore, research regarding otherization and online platforms are also specific to the theoretical basis of this investigation. From this research and analysis of the corpus carried out, it was found, based on the projects of saying mobilized in the selected videos and advertisements, that there is an otherization of the more mature woman, since she is constantly judged and considered inferior to the younger one. Furthermore, we comment that social media platforms contributed significantly to the discussion regarding female ageism, which was best seen through the relationship of (negative) alterity between subjects on the Instagram platform.Este artigo busca, a partir da #etarismo no Instagram, analisar, visto os pressupostos de Bakhtin, os discursos tratados por mulheres famosas na mídia sobre esse tema, no ano de 2023, bem como a valoração expressa nos enunciados respostas, essencialmente os negativos, suscitados por esses discursos. Para isso, utilizamos como fundamentação teórico-metodológica as concepções da Análise Dialógica do Discurso (ADD), principalmente sobre a alteridade entre sujeitos, tal como estudos referentes ao gênero e etarismo. Visto essa questão, colocou-se como hipótese a ideia sobre as plataformas de redes sociais permitirem um surgimento dessa realidade natural feminina, revelando o preconceito contra o envelhecimento. Além disso, pesquisas respeitantes à outrização e sobre as plataformas online também constituem a base teórica desta investigação. A partir dessas pesquisas e análise do corpus realizadas, constatou-se, com base nos projetos de dizer mobilizados nos vídeos e enunciados selecionados, que há a outrização da mulher mais madura, posto que ela é constantemente julgada e considerada inferior à mais jovem. Para mais, observou-se que as plataformas de redes sociais contribuem significativamente para o levantamento de discussões referentes ao etarismo feminino, tendo sido isso melhor vislumbrado a partir da relação de alteridade (negativa) entre sujeitos na plataforma Instagram
