Enhancing employees’ grit through the practice of transformational leadership and participation in decision-making
The study aimed to examine the influence of transformational leadership and employees' participation in decision-making on the employees' grit. To deepen the theories of the study, the literature was reviewed. The study applied descriptive assessment and a correlational research design. The study population consisted of all employees of the institution where the study was conducted. The questionnaires were used to gather the data, and descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyze the data. The study found that transformational leadership, employees' participation in decision-making, and employees' grit were high. The Pearson r correlation indicated that both transformational leadership and involvement in decision-making are significantly correlated with the employees' grit. Therefore, the hypothesis of the study is accepted. However, the study recognized its limitations because of its limited population and coverage. It is recommended to conduct more studies concerning strategies that enhance employees' grit
Effective teaching strategies to address numeracy gaps in struggling learners
This study investigated the effective teaching strategies employed by elementary mathematics teachers in addressing numeracy gaps among struggling learners in selected private schools in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, and Sanchez Mira, Cagayan. Anchored on constructivist and learner-centered learning theories, the research sought to identify the specific numeracy difficulties experienced by learners and the pedagogical practices teachers adopt to address them. Using a descriptive research design, the study involved ten (10) elementary mathematics teachers who participated through an online questionnaire consisting of structured checklists and open-ended questions. Both descriptive statistics and thematic analysis were applied in interpreting the data. Results revealed that learners frequently experience difficulties in fractions, decimals, basic operations, and word problem solving, often arising from weak number sense, poor conceptual understanding, and limited ability to apply mathematical ideas to real-life contexts. Teachers addressed these gaps using visual aids and manipulatives, gamified and technology-based instruction, peer tutoring, remediation, differentiated teaching, and contextualized learning tasks. These adaptive and learner-centered approaches were found to enhance engagement, comprehension, and confidence in mathematics. The study concludes that inclusive, evidence-based, and contextually relevant strategies play a vital role in improving numeracy performance. It recommends sustained professional development for teachers, early diagnostic interventions, strengthened home–school partnerships, and integration of technology-enhanced instruction to promote equitable and lasting numeracy improvement in Philippine education
Investigating teachers’ learning strategies and challenges in developing reading readiness among primary learners
This study, titled “Investigating Learning Strategies of Teachers for Reading Readiness in Primary Learners,” aimed to explore the instructional strategies used by teachers to develop reading readiness among young learners and to identify the challenges they encounter in implementing these strategies. The study employed a descriptive research design and involved ten primary school teachers from Bacarra Central Elementary School, Santo Cristo Elementary School, and the Special Education Center in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte. Data were collected through online interview questionnaires and analyzed using qualitative content analysis.
The findings revealed that teachers use a combination of strategies such as phonics instruction, storytelling, play-based and interactive activities, visual aids, and shared reading to enhance foundational literacy skills, including phonemic awareness, vocabulary, and comprehension. However, teachers faced challenges such as varied learner abilities, limited parental support, lack of resources, and time constraints. The study concludes that effective reading readiness instruction requires the collaborative efforts of teachers, parents, school administrators, and policymakers to create a supportive, literacy-rich environment that nurtures young learners’ reading skills and motivation
Effectiveness of ICT integration in improving learners’ performance in the schools division of the city of Batac
Information and communication technology (ICT) has revolutionized various aspects of modern society, and education is no exception. It is for this reason that this study explored the impact of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) integration on learners' performance. Involving 443 teachers in the public schools of the Schools Division of the City of Batac, a descriptive-correlational research design was employed. A self-perception survey tool facilitated data collection, analyzed using means and Pearson's r. Results reveal a selective and intermittent pattern in teachers' ICT usage, emphasizing presentation software, online research, and search engines. Overall, schools exhibit high ICT integration, particularly in leadership support, alignment with curriculum goals, and promotion of active learning. A positive correlation links teachers' ICT patterns and the overall integration status, contributing to improved Mean Percentage Scores (MPS) among students. Recommendations include encouraging diverse ICT tool use, providing ongoing professional development, fostering innovation, allocating resources for equitable access, conducting regular assessments, and establishing partnerships with external organizations for expertise and resources in ICT integration
Unpacking the effect of attitude toward work on the different dimensions of employees’ commitment
The study aimed to examine the influence of attitude toward work on the organizational commitment of employees. To deepen the concept of the study, literatures were reviewed. The study applied descriptive assessment and correlational research design. The population was all employees of the institution. Questionnaires were used to gather the data and inferential statistics were used to analyze the data. The study found that attitude of employees toward their work and organizational commitment were high. The analysis of variance suggests that overall, there is a significant correlation between attitude toward work and organizational commitment. However, taking it singly, there is no correlation between attitude toward work and normative organizational commitment. Thus, the study suggests that management need to enhance employees’ organizational commitment through improving affective and cognitive attitude toward work.
Culture-based lesson exemplar (CBLE) on least mastered learning competencies in science 4
This study presents the development of a Culture-Based Lesson Exemplar (CBLE) in Science 4, strategically tailored to address the least mastered learning competencies, with the aim of elevating learners' proficiency. Employing a Research and Development (R&D) methodology, the research conducted an actual count of Public Grade 4 Science teachers from the Schools Division of Ilocos Norte (SDOIN), Schools Division of the City of Batac (SDCB), and Schools Division Office of Laoag City as its respondents. To address the research objectives, three research instruments were employed: a survey-questionnaire, content validation, and a level of acceptability assessment. The CBLE in Science 4 is meticulously crafted to facilitate teachers' guided comprehension of scientific concepts and enhance Grade 4 pupils' mastery of the subject matter. This instructional material seamlessly integrates local icons, narratives, resources, and scenarios that reflect the rich Ilocano culture while preserving the core scientific concepts. The CBLE underwent rigorous content validation, encompassing objectives, content alignment, values formation, technical attributes, and instructional quality. Furthermore, its level of acceptability was gauged through the input of a group of end-users. The research findings indicate that the proposed CBLE demonstrates very high validity and garners a high level of acceptability. Consequently, this meticulously developed material serves as an invaluable supplementary resource for educators aiming to enhance the mastery, performance, and comprehension of Grade 4 learners in science. The validation process yielded an overall mean rating of 4.75, affirming the practical utility and quality of the developed material for educational purposes
