The study examined the influence of employees' participation in decision-making on their work engagement. Literature was reviewed to deepen the concept of the study. The population was all the employees of the institution and questionnaires were used to gather the data. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyze the data. The study found that employees' participation in decision-making and work engagement was high, however, the Pearson r correlation found no correlation between employees' involvement in decision-making and work engagement and therefore, the hypothesis is rejected. The study recognized its limitation because of its limited population and the variables measured. It is important to conduct further studies to include a wider and bigger population and more variables that affect work engagement

Strategic leadership and employee productivity in open universities as supported by demographic profile and supporting factors

This study focused on strategic leadership and employee productivity in open universities. A literature was conducted to provide a deeper understanding of these concepts. This study utilized the quantitative descriptive assessment and correlational research design utilizing the frequency, percentage, mean, and bivariate correlation. The sample included the 240 graduate students enrolled in the open universities in University of Northern Philippines and Lyceum of the Philippines University, Batangas in consortium with Divine Word College of Vigan. Results indicated that the demographic factors: gender, age group, level of education, and income per month and supporting factors: training policy and budgeting factors are determinants for strategic leadership and employee productivity in an open university. However there is no significant relationship between demographic profile with the supporting factors: training policy and budget. Likewise, there is no significant relationship of the demographic factors between the components of strategic leadership and employee productivity. The study suggests further research with larger sample and additional variables to more comprehensively assess the outcomes. &nbsp

The effect of seasonal heat on teaching and Learning and Mitigation Strategies: Philippine’s context

The Philippines, due to its geographical location and diverse topography, is particularly vulnerable to extreme weather conditions, including heat waves intensified by climate change. These heightened seasonal temperatures have significantly impacted classroom environments, making them increasingly unsuitable for effective teaching and learning. Hence, this study examined the challenges experienced by elementary teachers and the strategies implemented to mitigate the impacts of heightened seasonal heat. A descriptive phenomenological approach was employed to collect data through structured interviews with fourteen (14) purposefully selected public elementary teachers in the Schools Division of Laoag City, Ilocos Norte. The thematic analysis identified five primary challenges: increased teacher stress and burnout, diminished learners’ focus and concentration, reduced participation and engagement, heat-related illnesses and rising absenteeism, and inadequate classroom ventilation, including malfunctioning electric fans. In response, teachers implemented instructional modifications and varied pedagogical strategies, utilized outdoor and nature-based learning activities, provided hydration support and comfort measures in the classroom, classroom ventilation and airflow management, and strengthened classroom comfort through improved ventilation.   Despite teachers demonstrating resilience to heightened seasonal heat, the findings suggest that educational authorities and policymakers should invest in climate-resilient classroom infrastructure, including adequate ventilation and climate control systems, and provide specialized training to support teachers in managing environmental stressors and enhancing their teaching effectiveness

Promoting inclusive education in private schools: LGBTQIA+ educators’ role

This study explored teachers’ perspectives on the role of LGBTQIA+ educators in promoting inclusive education in a private school in Ilocos Norte, Philippines. Utilizing a phenomenological approach, the study involved twelve (12) teachers who provided detailed responses through open-ended questionnaires administered through google forms. Thematic analysis revealed six major themes: (1) LGBTQIA+ educators as agents for safe and inclusive environments, (2) authentic beings and advocates for inclusivity, (3) active advocates of diversity, (4) challenges faced within school contexts, (5) support systems aiding their advocacy, and (6) the need for improved institutional mechanisms. It was found that LGBTQIA+ educators significantly contribute to fostering inclusive education that is rooted in safety, equity, and acceptance within the school. On the other hand, participants also cited persistent discrimination, cultural resistance, and lack of institutional support as challenges faced by LGBTQIA+ educators in achieving effective inclusive education. The study emphasizes the need for stronger policy implementation, teacher training, and leadership support to reinforce inclusivity within schools

Impact of school heads' instructional leadership on teaching and learning outcomes: Philippine’s context

This study explored the impact of school heads’ instructional leadership on teaching quality and student learning outcomes in the Schools Division of the City of Batac. The role of school heads has expanded beyond administrative functions to include active engagement in instructional leadership, setting clear academic goals, supervising instruction, and supporting teacher development. Guided by the frameworks of the Department of Education’s Results-Based Performance Management System (RPMS) and recent curricular reforms, this research examined how leadership practices influence classroom strategies and learner achievement. Using a descriptive research design, data were gathered from school heads and teachers to assess the extent of leadership practices and their perceived effects on instructional delivery. Findings revealed that effective instructional leadership, characterized by clear vision, consistent monitoring, and responsive professional support affect teaching performance and engagement. However, disparities in classroom outcomes indicated that leadership impact varies depending on the consistency of implementation and contextual factors unique to each school. The results underscored the need for targeted capacity-building programs, strengthened policy support, and context-sensitive interventions to bridge gaps between policy intent and classroom practice. Insights from this study may serve as a basis for enhancing instructional leadership frameworks in similar educational settings across the Philippines.   &nbsp

The interplay dynamics of workload and burnout: Proposed strategies to mitigate

Teacher burnout is a big problem in education right now, especially because teachers must do more work. This study also aimed to find out what parts of school-related tasks lead to burnout and how these factors affect teachers' job performance. A qualitative and descriptive phenomenological approach was used to gather data by doing open-ended interviews with some elementary school teachers. A thematic analysis was also employed to find patterns and themes that came up in their answers. The results of the findings showed that teachers are experiencing high levels of workload, which significantly leads to burnout. As much as teachers want to provide quality job performance, the results revealed a strong correlation between workload and burnout, which affects teachers in various ways. Based on the respondents' answers, the effects include physical and emotional exhaustion, extended work hours, overwhelming administrative and instructional duties, and fluctuating motivation and job satisfaction. These factors collectively hinder teaching effectiveness and negatively impact overall well-being, not only mentally but also physically. This study highlighted that proper workload management is essential to reducing stress and preventing burnout among many teachers. It is also highly recommended that school administrators implement high-support systems and the right policies that promote teacher wellness and improve working conditions in the educational setting
