Get PDFThrough the prism of intertextuality as a basic notion of culture, the paper explores the correlations between theconcepts of “image”, “archetype”, “motif”, “symbol”, and “artistic detail”. The categories of “archetype” and “motif”are stated to be the organic element of the intertextuality structure. Since the former category strikes its root in thepsyche and the latter one should be treated as its artistic derivative, one has every reason to single out the archetypalmotifs. Nevertheless, besides all the possible combinations of archetypes, discourses, quotations and motifs, theauthor must be also capable of a sort of emotional and intellectual breakthrough into the unexplored.Крізь призму інтертекстуальності як загальнокультурної категорії у статті розглянуто поняття “образ”,“архетип”, “мотив”, “символ”, “художня деталь” в аспекті їх кореляції. У структуру інтертекстуальностінайбільш органічно вписуються категорії архетипу й мотиву. Get PDFThe paper focuses on a phenomenon of continuous substitution of the verb “канати” for the verb “конати” (to die) in all contemporary editions of Taras Shevchenko’s works. On the basis of editions published in Shevchenko’s lifetime, and also considering the autographic corrections of the writer, the author stresses the need to revert to the original spelling of the word “канати”. The paper also contains some remarks on semantics of this primary word form.У статті завважено ту обставину, що в сучасних виданнях творів Т. Шевченка дієслово канати в усіх випадках такого авторського слововжитку замінено дієсловом конати. Спираючись на аналіз прижиттєвих видань творів Т. Шевченка, а також беручи до уваги його власноручні текстуальні правки, автор доводить потребу відновлення автентичного Шевченкового тексту, тобто повернення до слова канати, формі й семантиці якого він тут же дає мовознавче тлумачення

Get PDFThe paper argues that the main spatial metaphors of sexuality found in writers’ diaries of the 1st half of the 20th century were related to arts (music, dance, theatre) and creative work. Ukrainian authors, in contrast to West-European ones, also used nature as a metaphor of sexual attraction. Such metaphors refl ect the author’s gender identity and the specifi cs of his/her sexuality. The object-homoerotic aggression against women is exposed, for example, when a homodiegetic narrator tells about dance’s desire to rape melody; and in case the author prefers erotic contemplation, the narrator shows passion as a theatrical act.У статті з’ясовано, що найголовніші розлогі метафори сексуальності у щоденниках письменників І пол. XX ст. були співвіднесені з мистецтвом (музика, танок, театр) і творчістю. Українські автори порівняно із західноєвропейськими використовували також природу як метафору сексуального потягу. Метафори відбивають гендерну ідентичність refl ect author’s автора та специфіку його сексуальності. Так, об’єкт-гомоеротична агресія щодо жінок оприявнюється гомодієгетичним наратором через бажання танка зґвалтувати мелодію. Якщо ж автор віддає перевагу еротичному спогляданню, пристрасть розгортається в тексті як театральне дійство тощо
