“The other women’s language”: Poetological features of the Ukrainian female prose writings in the 1990s

Це зумовлює формування певних специфічних художніх особливостей жіночої прози: полемічну загостреність, суб’єктивізацію й ліризацію, включення автобіографічних елементів, застосування нового символіко-міфологічного типу психологізму, ускладнення наративу.This article comments upon the origins of the new women’s self-conception peculiar to the Ukrainian female prose writings of the 1990s (O.Zabuzhko, T.Zarivna, S.Yovenko, S.Maydanska, N.Tubaltseva). This conception specifies the poetics of the contemporary women’s prose in Ukraine, with its polemical emphasis, highly subjective (autobiographical) and lyrical quality, a peculiar type of psychological analysis based upon symbolical and mythological structures, and the ultimate complication of the narrational texture

Зокрема, тут наматеріалі новел Мирослава Ірчана розглядається роль міфологеми ритуального жертвоприношення, однієї з чільних моделей української прози 1920–19307х рр. ХХ ст., як важливого сюжетоконструювального чинника. Такий підхід сприяє розкриттю глибинних механізмів сюжетотворення на рівні “психічного фундаменту” (К.Юнг) самого автора, а також підтексту твору як опозиції діонісійського й аполлонівського начал. У статті досліджуються також композиційні особливості аналізованих творів.This article deals with the problem of implicit mythological structures in the works of fiction. Making references to the short stories by Myroslav Irchan, the author of the article interprets the ritual sacrifice, which he considers to be one of the principal mythologems in the Ukrainian prose of the 1920s–1930s, as an important plot7constructing factor. Such an approach helps to reveal the basic plot7constructing mechanisms on the plane of the writer’s “mental foundation” (Carl Gustav Jung) and to articulate the implications of the text described as an opposition between the Dionysian and Apollonian principles of human nature and society. The article also demonstrates the peculiarities of the analysed stories’ composition

Авторка звертає увагу передовсім на бунінські пейзажі, виконані у стилістиці імпресіонізму, аналізує образи сконструйованих ним героїв — українських селян, наголошуючи на єдності соціально-критичного та ліричного аспектів у поезії та прозі письменника, вказує на особливості передачі Буніним живої народної мови.This article was written in an attempt to define the specific character, forms and intensity of Ukrainian cultural influence upon the Russian literature of the 20th century; allowing for the traditional emphasis on the Russian cultural ascendancy such an influence is called a “reverse influence”. The author takes notice of Bunin’s nature descriptions treating them as examples of impressionistic aesthetics, shows the originality of his “Ukrainian” characters (e.g. Ukrainian peasants) stressing the unity of social7critical and lyrical aspects in the writer’s prose works, finally, analyses the peculiarities of Bunin’s rendering the Ukrainians’ familiar speech

Full text linkОдна з найпопулярніших тем періоду раннього модернізму – тема смерті. Саме феномен смерті створює таку межову ситуацію, у дискурсі якої можна спостерігати зміни в системі цінностей як окремої людини, так і цілої епохи. У запропонованій у статті класифікації розглядаються три типи смерті залежно від тих чи тих естетичних парадигм європейського мистецтва – смерть позитивістська, або освоєна; смерть романтична; смерть модерністична, або ж дика. У творчості молодомузівців тема смерті найбільше висвітлена в поезії П.Карманського та прозі М.Яцкова.One of the most popular themes of early modernism was the theme of death. It is the phenomenon of death that causes borderline situations, thus marking the important changes in the system of values, either of an individual or of the epoch as a whole. In this article we classify the aesthetic approaches to death into three major types: the positivistic death, the romantic death and the modernistic death. Each of these types is peculiar to a certain cultural period. Among the members of “Moloda Musa”7group the theme of death was most frequently mentioned in the poetry of P.Karmansky and in the prose of M.Yatskiv.
