Get PDFThis article outlines the concept of monodrama developed by famous stage-director, dramatist and theatretheorist Nikolai Yevreinov, which was guided by the principles of empathy and identifi cation on the part ofthe spectator as well as of internal centralisation of action and isolation of a single subject of the action as agenre-creating factor. Against this background, Yu. Shcherbak’s play “The Wall” was interpreted by means ofintertextual analysis and thus categorised as monodrama with a single personage that incorporates severalintertextually motivated planes of subjectivity.У статті окреслюється концепція монодрами відомого режисера, драматурга й теоретика театру М.Євреїнова, що побудована на принципах емпатії та ідентифікації глядача, внутрішньої централізаціїдії і виокремлення єдиного суб’єкта дії як жанротворчого чинника. Get PDFThe article deals with gothic detective genre represented by two texts of a contemporary Ukrainian writer Andriy Kokotiukha: “The Dark Water” and “The Legend of the Headless”. The main characters, the detectives Vitaliy Melnyk and Larysa Gayduk, have been compared from the gender point of view. The collision between irrational experience and the attempts at its rationalization is defined here as the basis of the detective stories’ psychological conflict. The author argues that both novels combinethe gender patterns of hard-boiled detective and the gothic fi ction.У статті розглядається жанр готичного детективу, репрезентований двома творами сучасного українського письменника Андрія Кокотюхи: “Темна вода” і “Легенда про Безголового”. Зіставлено центральні образи героїв-слідчих: Віталія Мельника і Лариси Гайдук у гендерному аспекті. Розкривається колізія між ірраціональним досвідом та спробами його раціоналізувати як основа психологічного конфлікту детективів.
