Get PDFУ статті розглядається епічний літературний персонаж у творчості Т.Шевченка, аналізуються такі його характеристики, як внутрішній світ, портрет, монолог, взаємодія з іншими дійовими особами, участь у розгортанні сюжету й композиції твору. Акцентовано на відмінності літературного персонажа в ліриці і прозі, розглянуто основні засоби поетики, за допомогою яких письменник створює образи персонажів. Особлива роль відводиться образу автора як конструктивній категорії, що виступає креативним центром творення світу персонажів і сам постає як завершений персонаж, авторське “я” зі специфічним набором характеристик і моральних пріоритетів.This article deals with the epic characters in the works by T.Shevchenko. A special attention is paid to the inner world of the characters as well as to their portraits, monologues, interaction with other characters, their function within the development of the plot and the composition of the literary work. The author of the paper emphasizes the crucial distinction between the literary characters of the lyric poetry and those of the prose works, and singles out the main literary devices serving to create a literary character. The author’s image in the text is stated to be a constructive category which stands in the centre of the system of characters and is itself a full-fl edged character, i.e., the author’s self with its psychological parameters and moral guidelines

Barka in terms of their chronotope, pointing out their nostalgic and patriotic note. Get PDFThe paper is an attempt at an analytical insight into the current Ukrainian literary process, with due regard to the conditions of postmodernity which realizes itself as an overall slapstick comedy. L. Kostenko’s novel “The Notes of a Ukrainian Looney” is viewed here through the prism of its conception of a human being and of the world. It is thus seen as an invective and a warning against the globalist hypocrisy and civilizational irresponsibility; as a thoroughly structured intellectual novel aimed at comprehension of the apocalyptic everyday life in modern times. The author also considered the peculiarities of the writer’s use of documents and running commentaries within the structure of the novel.Здійснено аналітичний зондаж сучасного українського літературного процесу в контексті постмодерного сьогодення, що позиціонує себе як буфонадний балаган. Проаналізовано роман Ліни Костенко “Записки українського самашедшого” крізь призму специфіки розбудови образу людини і світу. “Записки…” – це твір-застереження, інвектива людству та його глобально-цивілізаційному фарисейству й безвідповідальності, своєрідно структурований інтелектуальний роман, в якому репрезентовано цілісний есеїстичний концепт осмислення повсякденної апокаліптики сучасності. Get PDFThe article deals with the multifaceted activities of Ivan Franko in the field of literary studies, ethnography, linguistics, economics, and political journalism. Here, the Slovakian historian Miroslav Daniš sets a stress on the Ukrainian intellectual’s Byzantine studies. The author calls him a Ukrainian pioneer in this branch of literary science, pointing out that Franko assumed Byzantology to be one of the components of Slavic history writing, especially that of Ukraine, and traces the scholar’sacquaintance with the works of leading European researchers of that time, K. Krumbacher and A. Almazov. M. Daniš also highly appreciates Franko’s three-volume work “Apocryphal writings and legends in Ukrainian manuscripts”.У статті йдеться про різнобічну діяльність І. Франка переважно як ученого в царині літературознавcтва, етнографії, мовознавства, економіки та публіцистики, але основний акцент словацький історик М. УЧАСТЬ ВАСИЛЯ ДОМАНИЦЬКОГО В ДІЯЛЬНОСТІ ВИДАВНИЦТВА “ВІК”
Get PDFThe paper explores the initial activity of Kyiv publishing house “Vik” and Vasyl Domanytsky’s participation in its work. The history of the publishing house has not been properly studied yet. The vast majority of sources used by the scholars contain many inconsistencies, and the existing research works don’t pay attention to the causes of the differences, but rather exacerbate the problem due to uncritical attitude to the sources. The author, therefore, focuses on three issues: 1) the time when the publishing house was founded; 2) its employees; 3) Domanytskyi’s participation in its work. Researchers date the origins of the publishing house differently, within a wide period of 1894–1897. Most of them rely on a limited range of printed sources that may contain some mistakes. Based on the crossed analysis of the ‘main’ (popular) sources with the involvement of those less popular among specialists, the author identified the causes of differences in the works of the scholars and made an attempt to explain the causes of such inaccuracies. The new archival materials not only confirmed the results of studying the printed sources but also helped to establish the earliest documented date directly related to the work of the publishing house. This date may be reasonably taken as a starting point of its history. Studying the archival documents of the censorship department allows making some assumptions about the staff of the publishing house, which although remains insufficiently studied. The list of personalities is still limited to the five most famous members of the publishing circle. The findings also help to clarify the terminus post quem of Vasyl Domanytskyi’s involvement in the work of the publishing house. The results obtained are important not only for the further study of the history of Ukrainian book printing but also for highlighting the relationship of publishers with the censorship in the Russian Empire and the work of the Kyiv “Moloda Hromada” circle.
