Get PDFThis publication contains two previously unknown poems by Yevhen Hrebinka. The poem “To My Guys” written in Ukrainian in the early 1840s can be read as a kind of literary and cultural manifesto which upholds the new Ukrainian literature’s right for existence. The second one, written in Russian, is an Easter greeting, the recipient of which, as the author of the article is convinced, is a Russian cultural worker Vladimir Dal. The paper also surveys the formation history of Hrebinka’s poetry corpus and supplies a brief commentary on both published texts.У складі статті вперше опубліковано два поетичні твори Є. Гребінки. Вірш “До своїх хлопців” (написаний українською мовою на початку 1840-х років) прочитується як своєрідний літературно-культурний маніфест, яким обстоюється право буття нового українського письменства. Другий твір (російською мовою) – великоднє поздоровлення; автор публікації переконаний, що його адресат – російський культурний діяч Володимир Даль. Jahrhunderts (Teil 1: DieRomantik)” translated from German by Olesia Kostiuk, this article focuses upon the prose works by N.Gogol, whichare analysed from the stylistic and partially from the comparative point of view. The book itself was published inMunich in 1964, and it is thus no wonder that its author sometimes makes use of the outdated methods of literaryresearch. Nevertheless, the present essay can be of substantial interest for the readers from mainland Ukraine,since till now it has remained unknown to the Ukrainian audience and appears here for the fi rst time.Стаття становить собою фрагмент книжки Д. Get PDFIn this article, the author argues that the fragment of the novel “The Woodcocks” by M. Khvyliovy, as well asthe vast majority of the novels published in the 1920s, incorporates features of different genre subsets (novelsdepicting life at a health resort, intellectual novel, philosophical novel, ideological novel, pamphlet-novel etc.),and therefore cannot be defi ned solely as a political novel. The main ideas, composition, set of characters,oppositions, and genre peculiarities of M.Khvyliovy’s novel were thus examined here as a part of intertextualsystem linking “The Woodcocks” to the novels “The Brothers Karamazov” and “The Idiot” by F.Dostoyevsky(according to M.Laslo-Kutsiuk, “The Woodcocks” were actually written as a parody on the fi rst of them), aswell as to the texts by other authors, and by M.Khvyliovy himself.У статті стверджується, що фрагмент роману М. Хвильового “Вальдшнепи”, як і абсолютна більшістьроманів 1920-х років, містить у своїй структурі широку парадигму жанрових різновидів (“курортний”,інтелектуальний, філософський, ідеологічний роман, роман-памфлет тощо), не обмежуючисьвизначенням “політичний роман”. Bilingualism – episode or trend? On contemporary Russian-language poetry in Ukraine
Get PDFСтаттю присвячено сучасному стану російськомовної поезії в Україні, зокрема білінгвізму, що виникав і виникає в мовній культурі перехідних епох, і тому, як відбувається цей складний процес. Своє головне завдання авторка бачить у відповіді на запитання, чи випадковий перехід на українську мову російськомовних поетів. Вирішенню цієї проблеми допомагає спроба побачити сучасних білінгвів у контекстах українських постмодерністів 90-х років і “київської поетичної школи”.The paper examines the modern condition of the Russian-language poetry in Ukraine, focusing on the phenomenon of bilingualism which seems to be a typical sign of transitional periods in cultural history, as well as on its processual aspect. Thereby, the author raises a question, whether the usage of Ukrainian language by the Russian-language poets should be considered a coincidence or a steady pattern. In order to fi gure out the answer, the modern bilinguals are set into the context of Ukrainian postmodernism of the 90s as well as of the so called “Kyiv poetic school”
